  1. Andy, the band comes from my "parts source" in China...
  2. The dial lined up perfectly it was just the stem height. IIRC it was too high and I decided if I machined a spacer then the case-back would run into the movement...
  3. I had the same thought and machined out the inside of a DW case, fit the movement and dial, and the crown position is way different.
  4. I decided to put the finishing touches on this watch after a lot of procrastinating and it made me wonder why it took me so long!! This is my first Franken and never would have happened if not for the generous nature of Ubi and Lani. In fact, now that I think back on things, it's their fault that I've become a Franken Junkie! Oh, my poor bank account... But, I digress, I'm here to highlight my completion of this project! This started life as a rep Daytona case and an A7750 from Ubi: ... and a gen dial from Lani. And Chris (at the now departed eurotimez) scored me a set of A7750 rep Daytona Hands: All of these parts assembled easily and I had this: I was pumped and loved it, but then the growing desire for the more correct bug bit me and I started noticing faults that prevented me from wearing it very much. In the nick of time justasgood came to the rescue with a gen Crown and that gave the project a new lease on life: Then the cyclops position, being in the "Rolex" position, started bugging me so it went back into the box. Several weeks ago the "spirit moved me" and I removed the cyclops and glued it back on in the "Tudor" position: I later engraved the case-back: Finally, for some strange reason, this morning I got up, pulled it out of the box, and decided to put on the finishing touches. All that was remaining was to drill the lugs, brush the tops of the lugs, and finalize on the bracelet. Here is how it turned out and I now have no reason/excuse not to wear it! Thanks for looking...
  5. Haven't worn this one for a while and it's headed out to the shop for some holes... Just returned from shop after "facelift".
  6. Looks good, M!!! Be wearing this today...
  7. Great lookin' watches, W and R!! No-Dates will rule the world!!!
  8. Jim, Thanks for the pic. I think there is also some Tudor specific engraving on the auto-wind mech as well. I have a gen 2784 I can look at it push comes to shove...
  9. I can't remember, is it the main plate or the auto-wind bridge/mechanism? I've thought about that and it should be doable...
  10. The Alps MD printers actually melt resin from a ribbon onto the printed surface. It's my fear that the zig-zag is trying to tell me something is going wrong with the printhead, who knows... I printed some "negative" decals and it was there, too. Funny thing, though, with the same identical printer settings I get a perfect image on clear acetate but that wouldn't make much of a dial. Here are two printed on the plastic, absolutely perfect...
  11. One step ahead of you...

Hmmm, get a Pentax? Seriously, though, with the zoom that came on my Pentax I have never had to use the macro lens I bought. Everything above is good advice and I really should dig my tripod out of the back of the closet (I think) someday...
  13. :thumbsupsmileyanim: :thumbsupsmileyanim: :thumbsupsmileyanim: Great choice for a first build, Tudors Rock!!! The only "wart" being the stubby CGs. I wish Josh could get whoever mills these cases to leave a bit more meat on 'em. Now that the bug has bitten you, ehat's next?
  14. In all of my searching the net while trying to create accurate artwork for dial decals I don't recall ever running across this particular style of dial in blue. I think it looks nice even if it might be a fantasy.
  15. farmer - wristiepocalypse, I LIKE that one!
  16. A little Pepsi action for today...
  17. It's hard to beat the clarity of a gen crystal...
  18. The "modern" 14060 no-date Sub still has/had lug holes so you could have your holes and Luminova too!
  19. This is a decal made with the same artwork but as a "negative" and the dial blank painted white. This is with my new 1200 x 6000 dpi printer but the "black" ink leaves a lot to be desired. But, this does look like something that has had a lot of sun and weather exposure so maybe it's perfectly "vintagized"?
  20. I have the artwork finalized for this particular decal and I think once I get some decal stock my printer likes it might be a go. There are zig-zaggy lines through some of the markers (printer issue) but they will be covered by the lume. I also misplaced my squeegee so it also has some bubbles under it but I think this might me turned into a "real" dial... I have ordered some different decal paper so we shall see what happens. This printed like crap the first time so I took a half sheet of the paper, sprayed it with Dull Cote, then printed and the print was much better. If I print this on clear acetate it is razor sharp.
  21. Quite often I'll just glue the dial spacer to the bottom of the dial. Once it is in the case and the case-clamps are tightened it's not going anywhere...
