  1. Like many here, I found RWG while looking for a good Panny rep. After what seemed like months of reading and buying several flawed reps, I started building one on my own. This was my project watch... River's Case, JimmyZFu crown guard, Lello Crown, Don Strap, Davidsen Hands shaved down, Chinese movement: It's not perfect, but It was my "grail" watch and I put a lot of time into "building" it. I wore it a lot, but I haven't worn it in months. To make matters worse, I bought a gen Rolex Submariner from an AD this weekend...I don't think this one is going to see any wrist time now. So RWG, what's your opinion: Should I keep it or sell it? -- m4rcus
  2. Thanks for the clarification. That's disappointing. -- m
  3. Rob1, How does the rotor look? Does it really have stickers or is it engraved? Thanks, -- m
  4. My steelfish crown was really hard to screw down at first. I was actually worried about stripping the threads. I shipped it off to The Zigmeister for a relume and it returned smooth as butter. Don't know what The Zigmeister did and I didn't mention it to him. He must of adjusted something when we put it back together after teh relume. -- m
  5. The AD didn't happen to look like this, did he?
  6. Umm...guess I'm a little late to the ballgrame here, but would anybody mind telling what the AD's reaction was? Just wondering.
  7. Great review and pictures. I've been starring at my steelfish and comparing it to the gen pics for weeks and haven't seen the differences you pointed out. Thanks for taking the time to write this up. -- m
  8. Looks great IMHO. I changed mine to an gen blue rubber strap and I think I'll leave it that way. The lugs are 22 mm. -- m
  9. Okay here goes...SOSF Relumed by The Zigmeister....excuse my limited photo skills... And the lume shot... I requested that he lume the markers at 12, 3, 6, and 9 on the retaining ring...like the gen SOSF. It looks great. Now, if I could only get the pearl redone...somehow.
  10. I just got it back yesterday, but I'll try to get some soon.
  11. Congrats on a fine choice. I'm looking forward to your pics. I just got my blue dial SOSF back from a The Zigmeister relume. Looks amazing. How's the lume on yours? Mine originally was lumpy and cracked. Looks great now though. -- m
  12. I have my own personal boycott against the Asian 7750. Actually, I have stopped buying anything chrono. I've had problems with automatic chronos as well as quatrz chronos subdials not resetting. Funny thing is, I was shopping for a Tag Formula 1 last weekend and the AD had a killer deal on the chrono and base models. But the chrono wouldn't reset properly...and that was brand new. So, I ended up buying the base model Formula 1 instead. My Swiss Army quartz has a subdial that won't reset to zero also. I think I'm sticking to digital wrist watches when it comes to chronos. My Timex Expedition works just fine every time.
  13. Colin, Thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for. I'll ask the same to be done when I get mine relumed. -- m
  14. Colin, I'm sending my blue steelfish off to The Zigmeister to get relumed. Can you please answer one thing for me? Are the triangle and square markers on the retaining ring part lumed on the gen steelfish? I read somewhere that they are. If so I plan on getting The Zigmeister to do that part too. Thanks, -- m
  15. Looks really beautiful. The white dial seems to show the circular pattern better than my blue dialed one.
  16. Thanks The Zigmeister. I'll take a close look at the bottom pusher. -- m
  17. Oh...guess I didn't know it was "slipping." It doesn't seem to be since it continuously runs whether the chrono is running or not. I did see some references to slipping when I tried to search a few days ago, but coming up with the correct key word combination is kind of hard to do when your just guessing on what is happening. Guess I'll do some more reading. Thanks, -- m
  18. I bought a used Breitling Chronomat Evolution with the Asian 7750 a few weeks ago. It keeps good time and has been reliable until just recently. The 6 o'clock subdial has stopped resetting. It now moves each half hour without the chrono running but will not reset to zero. The 12 o'clock subdial resets zero and the chrono second hand does also. Is this behavior that has been seen before? I searched around a bit and didn't find anyone complaining about this particular behavior. Is there anything that can be done to fix it short of a complete service? Thanks, -- m
  19. Here you go...some quick pics: Steelfish SuperOcean: Chronomat Evolution: and I'll throw in a Chrono Avenger too: A few more shots: Hope that helps. Cheers, -- m
  20. I think you're right. The 12 o'clock marker doesn't seem to align properly when lined up with the bezel ring's divet. Give it one click clockwise and it is almost aligned but not quite, give it another click and it is too far off. I wonder if it can be fixed somehow by removing the bezel and reseating or slightly moving the bezel ring? Anyway, I'm glad that's what it is instead of the dial being misaligned. -- m
  21. Now that you've mentioned it...yep I think you're right. Something else is going on. I'm no expert though. I just thought it was the dial at first, but maybe it's the metal ring that the bezel rotates around on. It might be a bit off center causing a visual effect. I dunno. I know something is off a bit. Not much, just a hair.
  22. Yep...it tends to do that. The crystal is almost invisible at times. @rbj69 -- Yep, it guess the lume has it's good and bad points. It actually seems to be just like yours in uniformity, but the glow is really impressive. The only thing that I can think the watch needs (from my viewpoint) is a good relume and a the dial straightening. So, I'll probably send it off to get these things done after I see your finished product. -- m
  23. Thanks. I'll live with the dial...for now. I'll keep an eye out for the fix, that I'm sure you'll discover. -- m
