  1. Thanks avitt. Your post was the one that I had read last night. I might be incorrect, so please correct me if I am wrong, but in your picture you are reconnecting the hand to the the hand post. Right? In my particular case, the hand and the hand post are still connected. The problem is that the hand will not sit down correctly onto the hour, minutes, second hand post. Maybe I just need a hand setting tool? Maybe I'm not pushing hard enough. Thoughts?
  2. Hey everyone, I received a Skyland V1 on Monday. It looks great, but the center seconds hand for the chronograph is slipping really bad. I have tried to push it down more securely and have tried to tap it in better. Neither method has worked. I have been doing the research and found the recommendation of gluing the hand with an epoxy like Devcon. The problem is, I can't figure out exactly how to do it. Do I but the epoxy on the outside of the hand's post, inside the post, or somewhere else. I'm kinda at loss here. Can someone point me to the a post that illustrates and/or spells out what I'm supposed to do? I'm really on the fence if I should attempt it or not. Last year I was a total putz with disassembling watches and now I can do it a lot better, but I don't have all of the tools to place hands on. I would like to try it and purchases the necessary tools, but kinda wish I could find a rep-friendly watchmaker in the US that would help me out. It looks like The Zigmeister is booked solid for several months and I've never used another watch repair person. Anyway...any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, marcus
  3. Understood, but we have to distinguish the two versions somehow. Since we will never know the name of the factories,V1 an V2 have to suffice.
  4. Thanks Rolexman....your pictorial has convinced me to buy the V1 from Josh on rubber strap. The half lume dot a 3 looks better to me than the full one on the V2 and the lume just looks better overall on the V1 pictures I've seen so far. I just ordered the blue dial V1 and have a gen blue divers strap...its going to look great.
  5. I've ordered at least four watches from him (I forget...maybe five)... One got stolen in transit to me. The envelope arrived torn open with the contents removed. Angus promptly shipped me another watch without complaint. One watch arrived with a defective crown guard (PAM 111E) and he shipped me another guard immediately. All of the other watches arrived as advertised. I would recommend him and will use him again in the future. Hope that helps. -- M
  6. I know what you mean. I pulled out the crown on my finance's Swiss Army watch once. Just setting the time and...oops...the crown and stem were out. BTW, I'm the complete opposite of the Hulk...6'1" 175 lbs.
  7. Maybe its just my luck. Maybe its when I've had a bit too much to drink. I always seems to find the crystal scratches the day after I went to a friend's house for a party or something. Memorial day was fun...my sub has the scars to prove it.
  8. I can't believe that I am the only one hard on watches. I can't seem to keep from scratching these things. Just today I scratched my "virtually scratch-proof" gen submariner crystal again! Yes, that is two scratches on the sapphire crystal for me! I have also managed to scratch my rep Tag Aquaracer's crystal multiple times. I don't even like looking at the bracelets. I'm always scratching them too. Oh look...another scratch. Fark! So...is anyone else a klutz like me or does everyone keep there collection in pristine condition?
  9. Ditto...I love this place. There are only a couple of forums on the entire intardweb that I read and I keep coming back to RWG. So, I donated (only 10 donations so far!)...and if it takes a monthly renewal I will also. Frankly, I have been confused on how to renew the subscription so if that clears up I'm in for good. BTW...when is that damn Concord C1 coming out!
  10. My future brother-in-law (that I got into replicas) got this recently. Its a very impressive piece. Overall it seems to be a great rep. BTW...nice pics!
  11. Yeah...I had several rep subs and broke down and bought a gen. I found it to be the most well rounded of my reps. I've sold most of my reps (all my pannies and brietling) but I have the SSD now and wear it a lot now...hope I don't break down a get a gen of that too.
  12. Excuse the extremely old picture...but I can't seem to take this off...
  13. Agreed, definitely a difficult choice...but currently I'd have to go with my sub... Please ignore the pizza sauce stain on the bezel at 11.
  14. Aquaracer for me...probably all weekend.
  15. Yeah, that was the first thing I did. It improved it a lot and took the wiggle out of the end link area, but the gap was still there.
  16. Yeah, I can't believe she picked it out. I've been asking her to compare reps to gens for a while now and she always seems to pick up on something that I didn't notice. The watch really is fantastic on the wrist. It's more comfortable than my SOSF, but seems just as heavy. The bracelet is finished really well and the clasp is top notch. Overall its a great watch with a few minor "tells"...but you'd have to have super eyesight to notice them while on the wrist.
  17. Well, I can now say that my fiance has better attention to detail than me. I've been staring at my newly acquired Tag Auqaracer since last Friday and didn't notice this, but she saw it somehow. The Tag emblem on the dial doesn't have the signature arrows on the "G" in Tag. You can see that the gen in World Traveler's post has the arrows. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=48707 Anyway here's a picture of my beaut. I simply can't get over the quality of the watch. I don't think it's going to be coming off my wrist for a while. BTW, I don't know if anyone has pointed this out yet...but the bottom end link doesn't seem to be flush on the left side on any of the rep pictures I've seen either. I looks to be off by just a mm or so...but I'm just being nit picky I guess. -- m4rcus
  18. Gen in my opinion. The lume is flat and the markers at 12, 3, 6, and 9 are lumed. The dial is way better that my blue SOSF. The dots aren't raised from the dial due to them being stamped in and the concentric circles are more defined...unless it has a gen dial swap. Probably more stuff if I had my SOSF with me to compare it to.
  19. Kinda off topic, but that was Primus...Wynona's Big Brown Beaver...1995's "Tales from the Punchbowl" album.
  20. Thanks guys. If that's the case what model would you recommend as a base to start mods on? I really like the tir-compax (I think that's what it is called...3-6-9 subdial arraignment) and the ~42 mm size Navi. Please help...I've been into the AD so many times just to stare at this particular one. I'm afraid of what I might do if I don't find something to satisfy my growing lust for this watch. My fiance would kill me if I ended up taking the plunge on another gen. -- m4rcus
  21. With all of the "super" reps that are out today...does anyone have the low down on when or if a "super" Navitimer (with double sided AR) is planned?
  22. Thanks for the info guys. I'm looking forward to seeing The Zigmeister's finished product too. Looks like he'll have a lot of 111E's to relume. I probably end up sending him mine too.
  23. I'm not an expert, but I have a four watch winder with double holder. I position the watches opposite of each other so that the crowns point out on both sides. I haven't had a problem with watches scratching each other.
