  1. Impressed with the capabilities of the watch, or at least in rep form what it represents, however the advertisement on the lock ring is a bit much. "Original Gas Escape Valve Ring Lock System".... who is that speaking to ?
  2. Wearer most definitely ! I'm into tool watches. Once upon a time I was really into chronographs, and I used them for timing many funny day to day events as if I were adding hours into my life by controlling and maximizing my ability to get through various jobs or chores in the fastest yet most complete ways possible. This became a bit dangeous however when it came to driving, because when in this mode, I found myself doing some pretty crazy stunts to get through traffic,.....however the most life threating was timing fun with the wife.. Now my watches are divers, that I'm using for underwater breath control retraining, and my all time favorite, the Jlc Alarm,.. which I use to build up my internal clock by setting an alarm, then reaching to turn it off, within as few seconds as I can before it rings without knowing the time. This I find fascinating. Time is everything after all,...
  3. Must be nice,... Seems like everytime we log in a watchsmith is on, or going on vacation.... Man am I in the wrong field,...
  4. My most reliable replicas have been Asian, 21 Jewels.. Gave quite a few to my teen age sons years ago & they beat the hell out of them playing sports, hiking and all sorts of abuse, and yet they still run. My favorite,... a handwind asian alarm which I still wear daily for close to two years, never serviced and it still keeps excellent time and wakes me whenever I need it to... I have had more problems with Eta than Asian,...
  5. Also enjoy the topic ! For me it's also the MBW 1680,... There was such a build up to them, like an orchestra with a full violin section, everyone was raving about them, the cost was high which added to the suspense, not to mention that it was coming from the famous MBW.... It took a while to arrive to my post office, and when it did I dropped everything I was doing and rushed over... After I frantically tore open the package however, the excitement deflated as fast as pin in a helium balloon. I just couldn't understand the allure,... it simply looked cheap from the plastic crystal to bland & boring dial,.. When I put it on I hated it even more,.. that little triangular case sitting high & dry on my wrist like a boat stranded on land, it
  6. Though it hints of favoritism to allow some & not others, if I were on staff, with all the contributions that Ubi has given us, I could also deny him nothing. Not to mention that whatever Ubi offers is an instant Gem ! It may also encourage others to follow his example, which is deserving in freedoms not given your common member.
  7. Loving the VC & the Chopard,.. The Van Der Gang is also beautiful, though it seems to be inspired by Iwc,...
  8. One of the most detailed & entertaining reviews I have ever had the great pleasure to read.... Lucky for me, it was on a Saturday morning,.... This watch jumped to the very top of my list,... Thanks Much !
  9. An empty promise. My people barely survived the worst events of violence perpetrated against any group in human history, 400 years of it and it still goes on, and it one reason I understand all too well that deadly power is a responsibility that should not be placed in the hands of your common mob. As has been proven time & time again, on a daily basis, most people misuse the privilege. Simple math comparing the numbers of legal gun owners who saved a life, even their own, to the times when a gun was turned against a neighbor, school mates, family members, that car in the next lane, or oneself, kills your argument as quick as a 45 slug to the head.
  10. 40-42mm will be around long after the bean, tuna & sardine cans vanish into a distant embarrassing memory, like bell bottoms & platform potatoe toe shoes. They are not only classic, but so much more classier....Imo
  11. Some of us are not so financially well off that we can casually brush off any extra bank notes being pilfered from our pockets,
  12. As usual The point is being faded by misguided loyalty, I say misguided because our loyalties should be to the majority, the community, the people, after all these boards are for the benefit of the membership, not the profiteers. As to the main point, the problem is not with price, but with backdoor maneuvers, and dishonesty, and if this were the first time, I would say give them the benefit of the doubt, but is isn
  13. You know me, I like to stir the pot & see what scents rise... Here is a question that I hope will bring up some interesting conversations. Are you happy that you stumbled into the rep world or do you regret it from a financial stand point ? Before we begin, can we keep the sober-minded rhetoric out of this debate ? None of this, "I have learned so much about watches" or "The friendship here is why I'm here. " or such boring goody two shoes dribble... Let's keep it to "My Wife Left Me because I blew the Rent on that New Big Bang." For me, I honestly regret the money I've wasted. In the beginning it was that old standard rationale, comparing the cost of reps to gen, which gave me the green light to burn through 150+ replicas at light speed,.... Am I alone ? How many people really have that robotic, vulcan like control, which allows them to purchase one or two reps a year ? What I learned from all this is that I would be more than happy with a Genuine Omega SMP Pro, for the rest of my life..... Problem is, I really don't think I have the control any longer, because this stuff is worse than Crack ! RWG I wish I never met you ! If you were a Woman I would have left you the moment you pulled up your dress and pulled your pantaloons to the side giving me that view and whiff of paradise...
  14. Why choose ? The best deals are usually from private sales, but if you cannot wait for a watch to arrive on the secondary market, or require security of replacement that a private seller cannot offer, then the right dealer is necessary.
  15. The Grandfather passes on but his seed continues ! I applaud TRC and will always cherish it's legacy !
  16. Great Post ! Thanks Omni,.. but if I had the words to express it as fluently as you did... It's not to offend, but to inform, though I do enjoy those that present their views in colorful ways, as it makes it fun ! Better to read it here than face it in real life I would think..
  17. Ubi, If you needed to, you could have read a bit further down the thread,... As for my 'feathers' they are sitting smooth Ubi, again, I'm simply trying to keep the thread on the path to which it was launched... try not to take it personal. Look, We already know that it's superficial to judge another being by his accessories, blah, blah blah, that's not the point of this thread and I believe that I have filled in every possible reason question you could have with regards to why I posted it,..which is for fun, release of held back opinion, or information... If I'm missing something, then please let me know, and I will try my best to reiteriate,
  18. Ubi, your posts, taken in the context of the purpose and subject of this thread, are against, because though it's an open thread, the normal rules of 'keep your negative opinions to yourself,' were already taken out of the equation to help keep it flowing in the path to which it was intended.
  19. Ubi, one point I'm trying to make is that that we dont' always have time to 'get to know a person', decisions are most often made in milliseconds, and in such cases are based upon the external, or unspoken messages. Also would you post against this thread if it did not bother you ? Though many of us would like to believe that we are immune to the perceptions of others, how much of that notion is factual ? The very quality of our lives are intertwined with how others view us as, most of us are not independent hermits. Yes, Variety is the spice of life, however if my brother in-law who has the best personality but dresses like a gangster complete with bling, bling, inquires as to why he has such a difficult time getting others to see who he really is, and I, that knows the answer to that question, an answer that could save him precious time in his efforts to obtain the trust of my mother and sisters, withhold it in some misguided notion of 'to each his own', am I really being his friend ? Our image is the 1st and sometimes a lasting impression to show to others who we are, so to expect everyone to bypass a 100 thousand years of defensive conditioning, on the basis of a notion that is evolved, yet opens us to possible harm in a world that is not, is expecting too much don't you think ? It has always been my opinion that we as outsiders, {and we are all strangers when leaving our own homes,} are responsible to understand as much as we can about the views of the world, then make sure that we don't allow silly external accessories, to transmit a message that contradicts our true personalties, or message. Too much of a burden to many, yes I understand that, however the fact remains that there is a cost is to be paid for ignoring perceptions, and is weighed against human relationships. In other words, we can fight the stong winds of perceptions with our sail boats, or understand and navigate them.. I choose to navigate, life is too short and trinkets nothing compared to people....
  20. True, however cannot the same be said about our clothing ? Our Hair styles ? Women from what I understand, judge men by their shoes. Do not some men judge others on their mechanical toys ? Let me ask you all,... Would not your brother be allowed to tell you how others perceived you, and would you thank him ? Are not perceptions reality to some people ? Have you ever picked a certain shirt, hat, pants, socks, jacket, that you found cool, then wore them somewhere and some looked at you like you were a clown ? Have you gone on a job interview, gone on a date with a new girlfriend, met her parents, or into a certain area without a thought to your accessories ? As a brotherhood here I just thought we could express what echos in certain circles without anyone taking it personal, and even exaggerate for the fun of it. Which brings me to my last hate,.... Ceramic Watches, and Rado in Particular !~ I've seen them, so thin and dainty, on men wearing silk shirts, unbuttoned half way down revealing four gold chains draped on their hairy chest, bands lose and floppy like jewerly, accented by their gold pinky finger rings and gold capped teeth, and would not do business with them... Sorry,.. my personal prejudice.. What does that say about me ? That I'm human and imperfect, trying to make decisions on who to trust, in periods of time as short as split seconds, with perceptions, that are sometimes all that I have. Think about this; If it bothers you what people on a board think or say, then how much more, would real world reality affect you, spoken or unspoken ? After all, these thoughts are only echos of what surrounds you in real life. Factors that can make or break any one of the many situations that balance the door of admittance or denial. Plus, some say that watches are the most important first accessory that a man has, to present himself to the outside world. Well that's it for me,.. I'm all spent...
  21. Soooo Funny !!! You should be a comedian !... Man Oh Man, I'm going to smile all day just thinking about this one.... !
  22. Hilarious !!! Also some thoughtful commentary from Omni and agree with much of what you said. Now in my 50's I seem to be going towards the old standard classics that defy trends. I also agree Subzero that the one Cartier which breaks the ranks is the Santos... Two tone watches are to me not bad,.. though though I don't own any, do find myself drawn to some like that Breit you own... Full on Gold however is too much, especially on a fake... which makes it double fake.. Am I the only one to dislike the color of pink gold, and see it as a gimmick to replace copper with gold, save the watchmaker money while charging the same price as the good stuff ? Any opinions on Alain Silberstein ?
