Post A New Release Poll & Win A Free Watch..
Richard Tracy replied to Richard Tracy's topic in General Discussion
Hi, Thanks for the thoughtful post.... In answer I must that that these are Jay's rules... If I were forced to answer for him why... I could only point to mbw, who is about as elusive as a dealer can be, because mbw goes further than other dealer dares in accuracy, but mbw too leaves portions of the watch to be modded by the new owner. Jay is an open dealer with a few websites,... thus is vulnerable to problems.... and what you are asking of him is to open his vest and close his eyes.... If however a new watch was quickly released, I believe it would give Jay a period of safety... Only my guesses,..feel free to chime in.... -

Post A New Release Poll & Win A Free Watch..
Richard Tracy replied to Richard Tracy's topic in General Discussion
Thanks much for the positive input Tvt.... I agree with you about the Sea Hawk... I do want to say however, with all due respect to Angus, knowing that his customer base is solid and, loyal,.. that, price-wise, he cannot compete with any release that Jay could put out. This is a fact with smaller dealers,.. they just don't have the buying power. You may pay twice as much, for the same watch that I could get for you here in a group buy.... With regards to finding a new popular model.. you may be right.. but then, we have such genius here with wonderful eyes for potential that I'm sure that we will find something... -
Post A New Release Poll & Win A Free Watch..
Richard Tracy replied to Richard Tracy's topic in General Discussion
I doubt it,... first of all you have to be a paid member,.. and 2nd most people are too lazy or busy to post even a word... let alone a poll... Besides these polls will be quick & easy...Either you like the watch.. or you don't.... and of great interest and benefit... Not one of those good for nothing polls... Of course if this is against board policy..or you think it will use up too much bandwidth.. just say the word... -
Okay, I have the way to make this work.... Before,.. the threads would spin out of control to where they were too long for most to take the time to read them, therefore the information was lost on many. Here is a better way. Every Paid Member who thinks they know a watch which will become a best seller, will post the photo in their own poll thread, and let everyone know why they should vote for it. Sell it to us,.. Convince us. a. The Top Three watches will all win the a Free Current Release from Jay. b. Winner of Jay's choice will also receive the first replicated watch in a box set. c. Jay may also reproduce choices #2 and #3 later which means that 2nd and 3rd runner up will also win their box sets as well. You will also be forever known as the father of a replica... Rules are as follows; 1. You must be a Rwg supporter to Submit a choice: 2. Your submission must be a watch that is a close to an all occasion as possible. A watch which can be worn from sports, to dinner to the office. Size range of 38 to 42mm max. 3. Movements are eta-2836/2824/2892/6497/7750 Which means no strange complications, as alarms ect... If you need help, please inquire in a post to the experts. 4. It must be a watch which has never been replicated before. No improvements on current watches will be considered, this time around, so pleeese.. let's not go there. All Polls Threads must Say in the Topic Title : My Replica Submission You can submit as many watches as you can find including the Sea Hawk. Contest will close on January 2nd 2007.... Any questions,.. please post them now..
-
The problem with that is the Law... I believe that manufacturers are purposely creating watches which are off by certain degrees. We may be able to do that,.. later and off the radar... As for now he's seeking a new model for release.... By the way, nice Chopard Dadog....
-
Thanks Ken... good ideal... This Poll I closed.... I will do a bit more research and hopefully discover watches which will garner much more interest... as I don't see any of the choices becoming a blockbuster....does anyone ?
-
Thanks for the input,.. I also agree that any watch with a value less than $3000 is not worth considering... As for the ability to vote on more than one... does anyone know if the board software will permit it ? Personally I don't see the Seal Hawk becoming a huge seller,.. the thickness at 20mm automatically cuts too many people from the possibliity of ownership... it's too overbearing for many to handle.
-
Okay, maybe an idea to allow a person to vote more than one watch... However the numbers of total votes are only 121.. too low even it this were a vote for two watches total... Is it the watches chosen ? Maybe too many people were influenced to either vote or not, when the Sea Hawk was campaigned by the highly influential TTK, then Admin ? I could see that being the case.. as I personally find the thing a bent sardine can. 20mm thick ? That's half the width of a 40mm watch .... Jeeze... Part of me thinks Neil is playing a Joke on us... Or am I the only one ?? Well if you feel that way... about it, or any of the watches.. then, Please,... let us know... This is Your Board,.. Your opinion counts ! Let's hear it !
-
Double post... hmmm my connection is really screwing up lately...
-
We need numbers enough to demonstrate a high interest to justify a sizable investment by one individual, into manufacturing a whole line of replicas. I have seen better numbers in a group buy .... {which by the way, this is Not. Your vote does Not obligate you to purchase } 121 total votes out of eight watches are sleepy numbers... This is a fantastic opportunity that has never been in play before,.. Before this, manufacturers simply decided what we wanted for us, as well as the flaws that we would just have to live with. Well, Now We have a chance to develop a solid relationship a Premier Dealer and Manufacturer... Think about it.... If we can do this right... we will have the power, not only to click and produce any watch we want, but we can also have the flaws that we all hate on the current releases fixed... So everyone, drink the stimulant of your choice and wade in here... we need Full Participation, not only in ideas, but in helping to locate photos, post and answer questions....
-
If the total vote count were high, then that would be the issue...But as you can see..well... I believe that most of the members of the other forums worthy of the name are also members here. I also want to keep this in the Rwg family,.. Thanks for the suggestion however,.. I appreciate anyone taking the time to respond... Anyone else... ? Just for the record,.. This is NOT a Group Buy,... so your vote does not obligate you to purchase your choice... we are only trying to find a popular new release that would be a best seller. What is in it for us ? If this first project is a success, it will give us the power to directly influence manufacturers with our desires, for watches to be replicated. It also means we would also be able to iron out those little wrinkles from the current and past releases. Last but not least a fantastic relationship with a top notch dealer who may give us wholesale pricing... Come on people.. let's wake up and get busy !! Lend the board your minds....
-
Forget the Sea Hawk,.. or possibly any replica suggestion to the industry via our community. As of now with only 121 total votes and 32 odd votes for the sea hawk, there is not nearly the interest to proceed further..... Either we chose the wrong watches or most people are here just for quick and easy amusement refusing to take any time or effort into anything more than quick glances or a cheap buy. If you think you have the answer.. then please take a moment to give a bit of yourself to the rest of us.... If the majority are more apt to take, verses give, .. sooner or later the tank will run dry...
-
According to the numbers,.. something is wrong. Either we have not chosen the correct watches, or not many people are interested in selecting a watch to replicate. As of now we don't have the numbers to justify a submission to Jay for investment. I would like some ideas.....so please, chime in...
-
ByTor is one of the best of us,..No Doubt.
-
Thanks Phobo... I too, hope for another result... wishing a 40 to 42mm watch will win this first time.... but we will all go with the flow, and hope for the best...
-
I know someone is going to hate me for this,..but I feel that it's very important that we get this right the first time. So... if you like a particular brand, but hate the watch choice,... then post what you feel would be better, .. keeping in mind of course the movements, of eta-2836/2824/2892/6497, and now eta 7750, and cost of gen to as close to $6,000 as possible, plus the labor to produce. Just keep within the brands already posted... If the chart changes, I may have to reset the vote... But only once...

What Can Be Expected From A Good Rep?
Richard Tracy replied to mrnixon's topic in General Discussion
MrNixon,.. It's not the topic, no, ... I welcome the topic,.and you. You, and your question is what makes this place such an interesting one, and what drives us, and this industry into higher realms. So this is not directed at you. No..I was referring to the waste of time,.. The Waste of time. {in a watch forum } We all know, that any mechanical item by it's very nature, is imperfect, especially watches, Also that the field of replicas to this point, is a garden that requires a bit more pruning or maybe better navigation through the paths. Why is it, I seem to see the same people, sitting there shouting... "There's a worm on the apples ... a grasshopper on the leaves,... " I say, grab a hoe, a shovel, pair of clippers and get to work,.. Crying, never made an ochard grow,.. so if you don't have a solution, or at least an inquiry into one, ...then please.. spare us your out of tune violin. What is, amusing, at times, is that some of us are having a totally different experience with replicas .... ever wonder why ? -
Can I take my vote back ? I want that Chopard !... What a Gorgeous Watch !
-
As listed above,.... Sorry, but you can only select One! No other pieces are going to be considered... Divers Chronographs Dress & Other Mentions Please note: 1. Since the vintage 300m is not easily available for purchase.. it was not added. 2. I did notice all the mentions of the JLC memovox, however the movement restrictions that Jay layed out prevent us from replicating it. Thanks for your opinions.....
-
Hmm that Chopard is Beautiful ! Okay.. about the post the poll... But before I do.. I need to Recap; 1. We were told by Jay to give suggestions for a First Time Replicate,.. which means, No updates or Improvement on past or current releases.. 2. Since Jay has to purchase a Gen to Model the Replica from, Rare and many Vintage pieces are out of reach. As of now we only have three watches that have received more than a few claps... however if I have missed anything... I will update,... Thanks....

What Can Be Expected From A Good Rep?
Richard Tracy replied to mrnixon's topic in General Discussion
What I find curious is the fact that some people have such a low 'opinion' of replicas, yet they still find the time to frequent our boards and post the negative while usually ignoring the positive aspects, which are many, and make logical sense depending upon your reasoning. I say anyone who cares enough to find out all they desire about replicas will find it here in honest reviews, and many discussions regarding them, posted by others who are serious about and enjoy this hobby. Constructive criticism,.. is one thing, however empty negativity is another thing entirely called bias. I don't want to come across as angry, but this is a replica enthusiast board, not a replica haters board... If you find yourself on the same side of a discussion every time,.. then I say it's time to examine why you just don't walk away and allow us what you perceive as our ignorance,.. and we see as our, spice rack..... -
Okay, since no-one will step up to help do the poll.. I will set up up when I return from my ride..
-
.........that darn ttk.... Just kidding..sort of.. .. though I prefer the 50 Fathoms....
-
I don't mind the SeaHawk, but let's keep it within normal size contraints.. How many people that love the Seahawk won't buy it if it's 42mm verses 44 ? Compare that to all the people who can't wear it if it's 44mm... Let's be practical this time around.. or there won't be a next time...
