  1. Thanks ... and please, show tolerance for those who don't worship hourly at the alter of Bond..
  2. Daily beaters are a must for anyone but a couch potato,.. I work a white collar job, but still do alot of hiking, working on hobbies and my home,.. fixing my kids bikes, yard work, exercise, playing sports,... ect. ect. ect... My choice, that came around by random chance is Narikaa's $125 Jlc memovox w/ alarm,.. on croc.. A Highly under-rated piece that has function, style, elegance, but it's also a rugged, heavy, hearty and happy piece of 316L that takes a knocking but keeps on clocking.... I get more envious looks from men, and inquisical glances from women, when sporting this, than any other watch I own.... and now never wear any other.... Hmmm... I just realized this fact.. I think a yard sale is in order.....
  3. Glad to hear it T. Looking foreward !
  4. Fantastic.... Are the lugs now at 22mm ?
  5. Shhhhhh... be quiet,....he might hear us laughing & come back.....
  6. Seems like everyday I log in here and find some other 'issue' that I never thought about or cared about before.... Almost like we are passing along pet peeve viruses,.. Okay class,..Quiet down now,...Today's peeve is green lume.... ,... I have always loved that green glow,... This has to stop..... I will not forsake the green....
  7. Never dealt with Lucky,... but George's pricing and indeed mbws were in the $430 or so range for a drsd years ago, so I can understand a slight increase at this point for inflation.. I do wish however that the mbw ralex would come in with better dials and crown guards out of the box,... then it would be the perfect price compromise for those of us that are not into heavy modding, but still enjoy a more accurate replica. I was wondering however if the mbw name is being used to over-price some of their other offerings, for instance, I was looking at a Patek Nautilus, and noticed how mis-aligned the markers were,.. Do they expect us to find and install a genuine dial for that as well ? If another brand would come along a bit more refined than mbw, I think they would lose business by the bus load.... I know I would jump ship right away...
  8. I think blue shark looks great,.. I had a seamaster that I put a thicker, less refined blue shark strap on, which I thought was very handsome as well.
  9. Haven't seen it yet, and I must admit that I had serious concerns about Craig, me being a hardcore Connery fan, but from what I hear he does a fantastic job as a newly commissioned 00, that has yet to cultivate the suave ways of the the mature bond. He's raw, rough and direct...perfect for Craig,.. however Craig in an interview said that he was signed on for three move movies, thus the rough edges will smooth out over time... leaving the Bond that we are more familiar with... I look foreward to the transformation... however remember the early Sean Connery who was much more physical than the later Bonds, especially the pretty boy Roger Moore, or the totally mis-cast and vertically challenged Dalton...so if Craig brings that tough & ready aspect back to Bond,.. then I am all for giving him a chance...though I doubt he will ever move Connery out of the top spot...
  10. Thanksgiving was a originally a native American holiday to thank mother earth for her bounty, when many tribes would host great feasts after harvest, showcasing the many varities of foods that are granted to us by the mother. It was also used as a way to bring families and tribes together. Turkey was the main meat served, as it was the prominent bird on the north east coast of America. When the Mayflower Europeans, the Pilgrims, arrived in the Americas, not knowing how to survive here, were starving, so the natives invited them to their ThanksGiving meals, thus the tradition was passed along and became a holiday for everyone here, including Canada, where we give thanks for any blessings that life has bestowed on us, and also, as originally intended, a time for family to reunite, over a feast of Turkey and all the trimmings....
  11. Thanks Mike,....it's been a blessing having you as one of our mods... !
  12. I heard that they have gotten better and the bills pass the pen test.. but now I know it's fact.... I'm pretty sure the guy knew what he was doing, as they find ways to spend the money that are outside of cameras or, if possible, the law... Sucks big time, but this ragged rat, will pay somewhere down the line when he least expects it... what goes around, comes around...
  13. Same here Neil... a prayer for you & family, is going out ..
  14. Well be sure to place it into a nice sealed cherrywood case to be given upon your passing to that relative that is more interested in his inheritance, than your legacy... Hey,.. I think I will do that as well... but mine will be a highly accurate patek replica in the Quarter million range....
  15. I have owned both and found the Tita model lacked much detail that the Stainless model possessed in spades... that is if you appreciate artistically designed contrasts between polished and brushed areas throughout the case and band, which is a specialty craft that Iwc does to perfection.. Stainless hands, and also Lume,..{which may be weak in this model however can be relumed..} is totally absent in the Tita model... with it's white painted hands and markers. Lasty, the heavy metal feel of the case , while the band slides smoothly like liquid flowing over the wrist, while the tita feels lite, rough & pebbly and the band moves as if rusted, as does the crown when setting time or date, also emits the same sound of squeeeek... Needless to say I still own the stainless model... and the other..... well..
  16. No thanks.... I have already had my share of hand-me-downs,....
  17. I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and or, Holiday Season If this is one for you ! ! I am personally thankful for this fantastic community of watch lovers, the new releases we have enjoyed this year, and to this new city that my family and I have moved to, which boasts clean air friendly people, and so many new and scenic roads to explore !
  18. Why oh Why doesn't this sort of thing ever happen to me ??.... I would be lucky to get a rust crusted Timex, and a beat up casio...
  19. Funny.... ........ Regarding the chips around the dial however,.. no not normal.. King said three out of ten come in with that flaw... depending how bad however determines everything.... if you have to have a mag glass to see it.. then well.... Personally however I am a perfectionist... and though I rarely bother dealers... I do perfect things best I can,... Just figured how to straighten some dial markers... {my worst pet peeve}
  20. That, is a handsome combo.... I will be going the strap route for sure...
  21. Wel well,... if you spent that much then by all means you deserve all the service and returns that you desire..... Thanks for filling me in... I feel responsible for Jay and vice versa, since I brought him into our fold.. and want to keep him around for group buys... hope you understand....
  22. Hey Deve, I thought you knew of the potential flaws of this model, from the GB thread ? Anyway Jay is returning those for good ones... {by the way, was not your first Ingen returned due to customs charges...?} If so this is placing quite a bit of negative hole charges onto Jay, that totally wiped out his small profit long ago.... so please be aware...
  23. One aspect of the mbw vintage, that I found a disadvantage vs the modern, was the size... I had a drsd that I sold, due to the small diameter, which I had hoped would not bother me,... but it did..
  24. Oh I think some well built, maintained reps, can last the test of time, just as well as any gen... and vice versa.... Then again on the flip side of that, are the watches, rep or gen that have never been opened for decades and still keep time like the stars..... Go figure....
