  1. I can tell that you want this watch.. however We need to strive for the largest possible interest.. .. 44 x 20mm is Too wide & thick...it's like a tank... there are many, many people who will never buy it.. or could even pull it off..
  2. Some great ideas.. however this time around Jay requested a new watch.. not a remake or improvement on any existing model... As for the 7753 repped,.. we all wish... however again.. this is for repping a watch with certain movements that were already outlined... not a movement replication project...... at least this time around..
  3. What is that .. a pressure gage ? Seriously though.. we are concentrating on well known names...or am I the only one who's never heard of this company ?
  4. If you can find one that has not been done, is popular, and falls within the 5k price range.. then why not ? But you have to do the research... As far as Jay's input, . of course he's the final word, however he is allowing us to use our expertise as to what will be a big seller, we are the best market research... Very smart of him...
  5. Just noticed this link: http://www.p178host.com/gpgallery/seahawk_...wk_history.html Says the 'Pro' model is 44mm x 20.11mm Thick.... What are the differences besides size, between the regular and pro models ? If nothing serious,.. I strongly suggest we go with 40 to 42mm for our first project, as I know I won't be buying a watch that large and thick...sheesh it's like sardine can...
  6. Thanks .. Great find.. Great also to know that the watch is 40 to 42mm... not 44 as was stated ! Makes a huge difference.... !
  7. Hey.. Jay is here... If you get all the way to this thread.... Hello Jay ! We thank you for this chance to finally select a watch to replicate ! If you have any suggestions, please let us know.... So far we have settled on three possiblities, all within the $5,000 range or less... If we select the Vintage Omega, we may be able to talk one of our members into allowing you to use his...... .. if not, then, we have two choices....so far however we are still open to suggestions for two more days. Do you have any preferences for Stainless or Titanium ?
  8. You are correct,.. it is already coming soon...
  9. This was one of our top choices, however...Precious Time is making these,.. so we have moved on.... Great choice though...
  10. Just to be clear... Jay's instructions are for a watch which has never been produced... Are there not versions of this rolex watch already in play ?
  11. Hmmm,.. according to the Blancpain site, the limited edition 50 fathoms is sold out... http://www.blancpain.com/fifty_fathoms/50_th_anniversary/ If we select this one, Jay is going to have to buy used...
  12. Thanks...Klingsor,..This is a long thread, so just trying to make it easier for everyone.. Any more votes on the Vintage Rolex ?
  13. Photos please....
  14. Okay are we in agreement that so far the below three watches are in the running ? 1. Sea Hawk 2. Blancpain 50 Fathoms 3. Vintage SM 300 If there is a push towards another that I missed,..please underline it again, and as they say, sell your point. We still have two more days to discuss this. As we talk this over however, I think that we should strive for a medium area, between sizes, sport & dress and brand awareness. At least for our first chance at this. In other words, nothing too large, something that can be worn on all occasions, and a brand that is known and sought after,... or what could be the first in many builds for us, will turn out to be our last. I don't think that Jay will be too happy with us, if he dumps a huge investment into a watch that only sells to a minority... If anyone disagrees... please, make me see the light....but keep the future in mind, and see this as a seed that we must make grow,...
  15. I think we need to look at this from a dealer's perspective with regards to popularity in sales. Am I wrong in assuming that it starts with how many know about the brand, or the make of the watch we select ? Size has also to play a part,.. Some of us love 44mm watches, some 40, but what is the most popular and user friendly ? We also need to consider the thickness of the piece. What are the percentages of those who enjoy a 44mm piece that will absolutely not wear a 40 to 42mm, and vice versa ? Does a Dress, or Sports model hold the most potential ? Am I clear that the SeaHawk, Blancpain 50 Fathoms..the Vintage 300m are three of our major suggestions. ? What other sersious contenders am I missing ? Please chime in again, with the above thoughts in mind or add some flesh onto the guidelines that I am proposing....
  16. Gotta Agree,.. Love the Theme... makes me all chilly but warm at the same time.. like sitting by a bonfire, surrounded by falling snow...
  17. Beautiful........... I guess it eliminates the need to another.... Great Job PT...
  18. Thanks Pugwash... Like you, my vote goes for a watch that comes in both chrono and non,... {since Jay gave his okay to submit a chono as well}... makes for an easier and less expensive transition for building two watches. So no takers on setting up the poll ?
  19. I Just received reply from Jay that he's okay to build a 7750 based model as well.... It has to be a case that will hold an Asian and Swiss....and must be affordable for him to purchase and build. He also request that it be a watch that has never been repped. So we can submit two, chrono and non-chrono, ...
  20. Hey Gang.... I'm sitting in a pile of paperwork here today... does anyone have time to set up the watch build poll for us ? If you could include the posted photos of the main choices, that would be great... Thanks....
  21. Wow ! Some fantastic submissions.... Any suggestions on how long we should wait before we poll ? I don't want to miss anyone's ideas, and not sure how many of our members are missing today...or how frequent most of us sign in. I think however that it would be a great idea if we selected a watch that we could later upgrade into a chrono.... always a good idea to look ahead. As for the numbers,... We will be acting as gage for a popular release, that Jay will not only make available to us, but to his other non-forum clients as well,..so though we are under no pressure for numbers, if we were to get a decent amount, we could group buy the price down as usual. Ken is right, that in this case 50 would be a starting point, however I don't think it will be a problem if we select the right watch,... Then, who knows,.. this may be just the start of a new era for us. Also on a side note,... Eddie is creating a surprise Chrono for us that is bound to get some people pretty excited,.... Expect his release in about three weeks,.. He will also accept a group buy for it....
  22. I was wondering when this device was going to be understood... http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/space/11/30/a...reut/index.html Amazing !!!
  23. Let's keep in mind that we are limited to the following movements.. eta-2836/2824/2892/6497.
