  1. Well I am watching Honpo and keeping my antennas up.. also scanning this thread for ideas... Whatever we pick needs to popular for at least 50 people.... I think now that we have broken the 25 person barrier, we can enjoy even better pricing and service.... After that,.. who knows..higher numbers may even allow us to order a watch repped specifically for us....
  2. Devedander,... both those are the older versions....no more worries,.. you've got the best watch, for the best price... and from the best dealer... Also a thanks to Torresp, for the report and band idea ! Looks like Jay is holding up his agreement...! By the way, when anyone posts their ideal watch for our next GB... please chime in and vote on the choices,.. most voted will be IT !
  3. Where do you see that ? Never mind.. that's the old version.... http://www.silix-prime.com/product.asp?id=1326 Check the hands....
  4. Indeed Jkerouac,... Two Tone, I missed your other posts,... and after what I have experienced from you, kind of doubt they were as bad as you feel they were. I wish there were more like you !
  5. 3 days.... Try five months,.. I say lean waaaayyy back, No, Run in the other direction... Any other direction...
  6. ... or am I the only one ... ? Seems like they take an extra ten minutes at least per day out of my time... and I am on broad band... However if they are profiitable for the board then it's worth it,. though I would rather find alternative ways....
  7. Hi Guys... My e-mail exchange from Jay regarding hand checking. > Hello Jay, > > One item that we need to address for all, > which may be creating a slow down of follow through is > the issue of hand inspections. > > After one member posted that his watch from you came > in with the broken paint on the edge of the dial, > many people are wondering if they will receive the same > problem. > > Are you performing the personal inspections, or is the > shipper ?? > > We need to get past this issue before we can move on. > > Thank you Subject: Re: Weekly Group buys.... From: "Watch Silix" <silixprime@gmail.com> Date: Thu, November 9, 2006 10:56 am Hi Kevin Yes, we are performing the handpick by ourself. And so far we have got one report of the chipped paint, but that is the only one case, I believe this will be last one. We replied to him promptly to replace the defective watch. I am very unhappy that after we stressed the problem in the beginning with our workers there is still one watch slipped through our fingers. We have stopped more 5 watches with this defect already at our checkpoint, but unfortuantely there is still one got through. Please assure ur group buyers we are checking carefully and will keep doing it. Now we check other brands for this defect as well. And also please tell ur group so far tthere is only one report, after over 10 watches hsipped. Let me know if there is anything else we could do to assure the buyers. Nice day. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As you can see, Jay is tackling this issue with all his might.... So Please... if anyone has not followed through with his order.. please do so.... the future of group buys is in jeopardy here.... You will find his ordering information below.... Thank You ! Okay, Please find below ordering information for Jay. But before, some important info. He says also that he believes that he can obtain, the box sets at the same price at EL. Okay, as for ordering, Jay requests that each of you contact him direct at "Watch Silix" <silixprime@gmail.com> for your paypal addresses, as he has set up several for safety.
  8. I'm glad that Iwc is gaining popularity,... and also chime in on Zenith to finally come into the fold, and would welcome Blancpain.... Panerai it seems.. like Rolex, has limited amount of styles, that after a while, keep only hard core enthusiasts returning. For me, you need to do more than change a name, and dial or bezel color to keep me coming back, as I crave a variety of different case shapes, sizes, faces and hands. If you play it safe,.. you lose my interest. For instance, after buying maybe five Pams, I have sold four, retaining only the 212 as the best example of Panerai, in mine eyes. However if the MARE NOSTRUM were to arrive, I would be on it in a heartbeat ! As for Rolex, after buying maybe six,.. found myself never wearing any, thus sold them all, never to return. Their static style, though at times I can admire in photos, {for instance in Relaxman's new post},.. still can't see myself buying. Not to mention that they are so common on the street, in both genuine and especially reps..... which adds to the ban I currently have on them.... but who knows... I may, after taking a break, find myself magnetically drawn to them, again..... stranger things have happened...
  9. Some people are better off at the mall...
  10. Thanks Omni, and You as well Ubi,.. WatchMaster's has the stick markers, and now I prefer the roman.... seems they are easier to place, making mis-alignment less of a factor... I just picked up a non-jumbo on Trc trading.... just to check it out for size... I will also inquire with EL or River for the Jumbo however....
  11. Hi Omni, Your gift to Ubi of that beautiful Nautilus..I find is difficult to locate... I would greatly appreciate, if you could point me in the right direction...
  12. Thanks for the information... Band issues can be a pain, but are easily solved with a pinch, pull or file.. Jkerouac, you probably already know, this, but for those that don't.. I discoverd that a cheap, basic watch tool kit, combined with small needle nose pliers and a few files, and some cape cod cloths, has saved me a ton of headaches, bringing my satisfaction with reps to a degree that I have enjoyed with my gens, or even higher, considering the price differences... Regarding the chip found on Talkpenny's dial,.... I am now in the process of hammering out the reasons why this chip slipped past Jay... The best communication with any dealer has come from him, and I'm sure we will get to the bottom of this issue to get it ironed out, because the record, to this point, indicates that Jay would serve best conduit for all future group buys, not only in pre and post customer service, but in shipping flexibility and connections to new release watches that Honpo usually receives first..... Speaking on this last vein, does anyone have any suggestions for new releases that they would like to see discounts on ??
  13. Sorry to take this off track for a quick sec... but do these watches open from the front and back, or only the front ? Reason why I ask is that we have had someone post a fear that their holes were out of alignment.... I also have seen many pics of gens where the holes were off kilter, but it didn't seem to bother the owners, who were displaying them with the pride of a new child....
  14. Yes, and the good newz is that without any chips, I believe he only has to open his watch, and align the movement a touch and he's got his perfect Ingen.... That is if this Iwc has the same set up as the Gst...
  15. Dave,.. If I were you, unless I were in Canada, I would not send to The Zigmeister, but find some local person,... Dial replacements are a simple and cheap fix, that mostly any watchsmith can do. Regarding the savings,,.. don't forget that you could have ended up with the same dial, outside of the GB, then, every penny you spent would be on top of the full retail price.... As of now however, you have plenty of room to play with, to still come out on top... Stay positive bro.... keep your chin up...
  16. What I meant was visually,..and in size matters..
  17. Great... contact Jay and let us know what he says.... He may offer another alternative... I have also written him.
  18. I was almost tempted to purchase an RXW...as they seemed to have mixed he best of Panerai models, improved upon some aspects, and come in with a lower price..... Also since Pams are not that well known, it makes these a logical alternative.. However that nagging feeling of my distaste for 'Legal Reps' pulled my finger away from the trigger... I fully understand however that I am only one of a few with this problem...
  19. Hmmm,.. seems that Jay is not looking as close as he could either... How is the alignment ? I beginning to wonder if these dealers are buying in bulk, sight unseen and are forced to live with any flaw that is not mechanical related. According to King, 30% of these watches have the chip flaw.... so if I am right about the dealer's purchasing problem, we can expect that percentage to turn up here. I would say the best route is to take the perfect dials for replacement and allow some of our modders here to do the work for a discount.... Anyone want to chime in ??
  20. Bottom line is the dealer is replacing your toys.... All Hail RWG for that As for the amount of watches,...live & learn,.. and if married...I hope you have a separate checking acount, or in this case, savings account.. Plus a good place to hide your booty... I suggest the garage in the tool cabinet....
  21. The main problem came from those who refused to see that, .. what we all had in common, was a love for time, represented in mechanical form. All else was noise. Imagine, an unexpected rain storm, running under a temporary shelter, we meet strangers and smile, forgetting, if only for a moment, that false political programming which keeps us at odds, we are free to be individuals, sharing a bit of time and space. You may find however one person in 100, who attired in flags, lost of self, can not help but to shatter the reality of the moment by shouting slogans, attempting to build news paper walls of separation, under this little roof, with the rain pelting down outside..... Well, we left those people behind and moved to another shelter, and there they sit under that leaking roof, cutting, shooting and spitting at one another, while we are here, building a full lively community from a simple love of time pieces. Demsey was one of the few intellectuals with a good heart, if not misguided loyalty, holding on fast to an illusion of days past, and in essence with those who believe that you can make a better world, or forum by crossing swords of opposing opinions, verses growing new bonds from the base of shared commonalities. Ken, Admin and the Crew, knew this instinctually, thus we have here in solid form, the promise, the potential, that RWG1 let slip away, like a mirage. Our Little, Umbrella... ......"Hey, what kind of watch is that you have on ??"
  22. I selected the white face as well,.. the patina on the dial was very cheap looking. If however you came across a gen dial and it would fit,....on second thought... the bezel would also require a repaint,... I think that Paul is trying to clear out old inventory that did not sell well...
  23. Thanks Jim ....My list,.. will it ever be complete ??
  24. Great Post Omega1...and a Gorgeous SMP... mind telling us where you got it ?? Yes,... The Zigmeister is our very own Da Vinci ..an Artist Extraordinare + Mechanical Wizard all rolled into one...
  25. I think you may be right Swdivad.... I also am finding myself moving away a bit from tool watches.... something I swore I would never do....
