Yup, Fri The 13th Is My Birthday........
Richard Tracy replied to Pete's topic in General Discussion
Have a great one Pete,.. Friday the 13th is a good of day as any,.. seeing that it's hundreds of years past the ordeal of the Great Knights Templar... -
Personally I think this whole gold testing idea, on replicas, is a waste of time.. and a form of cheapness, that does more harm than good in the long run with our dealers. I would bet that the gold percentage may be lower on some watches, but who cares ? The goal of purchasing a rep with gold is for me, to make sure that an accidental scrape doesn't uncover the metal under it, like with plating, and for that, 10, 11, 12, or 13% would do just fine.... It these were a genuine watches we were talking about, that could be passed on as heirlooms, melted down, or sold later at prices that reflect their gold content, then yes, it would be a rip off, but in Replicas with the prices just a pinch above the normal eta rep ??? Please,.. Let's stop looking for bugs under, the house..

I would simply request my watch back, without any personal animosity, just a business style disagreement. You always retain the right to request a return of your property or a refund on merchandise not delivered in months combined with no communication. I'm going through something similar with Neil at present, with him refusing to answer any request for an update in my order or refund request, on a watch that he claimed was in stock when I ordered back in June, then in stock again I noticed about a month ago. I think we just need to see this as business, but I would still have a beer with him if ever we met, just never would order from him again....

True-Stu, I would be less than honest, if I were to say, that I have never, caught my reflection in a mirror or in some piece of glass somewhere, and felt some of what you say... There are other times however, that I say to myself,.. '..This is one hefty, masculine, handsome piece of machinery here... What a Companion." as it sits there, this artfully crafted and polished slab of metal, blending perfectly with how I feel. Kind of like the last vestige of the Suit of Armour.. Anyone else ?

Dangerman, find below photos demonstrating my views. Both watches are 44mm but wear much smaller. Notice how a large face is dimished by the recessed bowls around the dial, the shorter hands completing the picture. Makes a visual difference, that has a postive impact for smaller wrists.. Also, Black Bezels can tone down a larger piece.

Hi, This model was discontinued about two years ago...it sports the correct length hands, and proper gas valve placement. King used to carry the newer version, {though not as accurate} don't know that happened though to them,.. Silix may have them but his site is too slow for me to find out... http://www.silix-prime.com/ give it a try..

Great post ByTor, as usual. So we see it's preference. My personal opinion it that it depends upon the size and features of the face of the watch, and your arm type, not just size. My wrists are on the small side, but are fit and strong looking from lifting, kendo and aikido. When I see slim arms that are smooth, veinless and non-muscular, I don't think it blends well with a large watch. I think a smaller, thinnner, or dress watch looks better with those types of wrists. However if you love a large watch regardless, I think the size and type face is of the utmost importance. For instance, a panerai 44mm 212 due to the bowl around the rim of the face which cuts the diameter of the face, is my favorite pam. I tried a 47mm Fiddy once, but sold it, not because the case was too large, the lugs did not overhang my wrist, but because the crystal and face was like a huge bubble. I also gave up a 43mm Iwc Jones for the same reason, the face was like a full white moon, however can sport a 44mm white face Vulcain because of the rim of recessed bowl. {the name of this feature slips my mind at present}. Another great watch for smaller wrists is the 41mm Memovox,.. simply one of my favorites.. Chronographs are also a nice way to break up a huge face, that would normally look to me like an alarm clock. Imo....

How Much Is Too Much To Spend On A Rep?
Richard Tracy replied to dabom's topic in General Discussion
Nope, conversations with Offshore & Nanuq, is more like it.. However note that I said... 'smartly priced' gens... which means in the same price range as reps... I thought someone may twist this,..and not surprised it's you.. -
Kudos to you as well Offshore, and to the rest of the Team... This is going to make for a much more civil trading forum...

How Much Is Too Much To Spend On A Rep?
Richard Tracy replied to dabom's topic in General Discussion
I agree that reps may never be heirlooms, but then again how much of your collection has to fit that category ? Even still, speaking on passing watches to our sons,..I have four, and have tested them with watches they assumed were genuine, and was shocked as they threw them around, played ball with them on, left them in gym lockers or on dusty tables surrounded by other guys they barely knew... After,..when I let them know they were replicas.. they just shrugged and laughed, but I let them know that watches were not in their future at least not from me... Though I don't think many in their generation care about timepieces the way I do... Back to the rep price issue, for me $600 is tops,... I think though that I will start searching for smartly priced gens with original style and real history, if such a thing exists.... and see where that takes me....if not far, then I can always come back to replicas.. -

Need Your Help Quick! Rep Or No Rep...?
Richard Tracy replied to goodfella's topic in General Discussion
I think the Term 'Replica' is too strong for that thing... -
I just wanted to post Jays' replies as promised,... these actually came in long ago, but my spam filter was being over zealous.... In response to the question of unshipped orders.... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Really? I am so suprised. We have shipped all of the group orders. Yes, there were a couple who got delayed, but that was mainly caused by some additional requirement by the buyers, they want to change the strap of the watches. By the end of last week, we have shipped all of the group orders. Please ask the buyer who's complaining email us. Strangely, I have not got him emailing me. He should have done that first. Do u agree? Nice day. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In response to my apologies.... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ No problem. We try to do the best to meet their demands, even at this price. They just should have to complain to me first before posting around. So we could have chance to communicate and solve any problem. But I have thank u a lot for the goos work u have done. Let's arrange another one soon. :-) Nice day. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jay... a Top Notch Dealer ....

Remember The Slightly Frustrated Admin?
Richard Tracy replied to Admin's topic in General Discussion
My suggestion does not pull dealers out of the regular trading forum or anyone that wants to trade... it only adds a separate forum, for special dealer offers and those members that would like to deal with other certified members, while garnering increased support for the board as a whole. In my opinion, applying pressure to long time members, will only drive them to the other boards and does not offer then anything different or unique, however if, let's say some dealer, or member were to offer, for sale, a swiss 212 for huge discount, but you could only view details of such offers in a private forum, this would make it logical to pay a one time yearly fee that you could recoop in one buy when gaining access our members only forum. -
Glad things worked out for you ! No problem, and it was great having you with this GB, Finepics !
