  1. PAM lume varies considerably depending on model and series, now I am not including PreV or PreA in that I refer to the contemporaries. All pics of PAMs are very hard to assess the particular lume on the gen as various factors in taking the pic can influence the colour that is seen by the viewer. But if you hold gens in your hand and hold them up against different gen models you will see slight variations in tone and even colour. For example from my gens I have found sandwich varies to sausage and autos can vary to manuals and so on and so on. So to simply say to use a particular mix and ratio of C1 and C3 or C1 or just C3 doesnt follow for all PAMs generally. PAMs do use variations of these lume colours plus also variations on luminousity, as you need to remember that the C1 or C3 designationation is relative to colour not necessarily strength in adition lume manufacturers have differing lume to each other. So the variables are more than just a simple choice of C1 and C3 or a mix there of.
  2. Francisco sells them mate
  3. I agree with a lot of what has been said in respect of reps especially on PAMs, reluming is a must for me personally as the effect of gen PAM lume can be seen in daylight as well as night time in fact I would say more so. Indeed on a lot of watches rep lume is the wrong colour even when not charged. But as for practicality of lume in general it really derives from and has improved for diving purposes as well as night use. So the practicalities of lume are based on specific user needs. But in the same way you might say I dont need or care about lume you can use the same logic to say why you dont like divers watches or stealth watches or chrono watches etc etc. All watch design derives from practical specific use or need, this in turn means other people buy these watches who have no intention of using the watch for the original use it was designed for. So ultimately and despite a lot of guys saying they use lume for this or that in terms of their own needs the design aspects of a watch are mainly because thats what the owner likes not necessarily needs. You could argue if you are constantly in possession of a mobile then why bother wearing a watch, these sorts of arguments can be taken in many directions. I personally love the lume not for just its look but the different ways and methods it is made and applied in the same way I enjoy a movement for various reasons or the way a bezel looks in relation to a dial etc etc I appreciate what goes into making it and I also enjoy the result in daylight or night time. But in terms of reps lume is and can be a tell charged or not, so it is a necessary part of any need to make reps look more gen like. In terms of gens, lume is just a part of the overall likeability of a watch for me. If your happy to enjoy other design aspects of a gen watch, then that just highlights the differing views on watch collecting and only enhances what makes forums like these so diverse and such great communities. If your happy to keep rep lume in the majority of cases then again you have a differing view of what your trying to achieve with your reps but again thats what makes this all so much more interesting.
  4. ebay mate Loads of options and prices
  5. These inserts arent glued as such, they are fixed with double sided tape. So IMHO its the crystal needs resiting
  6. I do recall one a while back on RG but that sold.
  7. Totally agree if you get an TT/fully plated watch for a woman then it must be for dress use as most in my experience are pretty hard on watches, my wife loves her watches but to her they are just watches so she does everything wearing them. Her TT only comes out for evenings etc even then it takes some abuse !!
  8. That doesnt look like DSN latest 6mm cyclop crystals given the AR reflection and edging. If not try him for a replacement tell him its for the 7750 if you order. And yes CG (mainly lever) looks like it could do with a better version or even modding I saw one on RG sales that would do the job You should of got Rob to do the CG pin while he had it but you could do it your self mate assuming its not just a bad pic and pin is better in your hand? Then get a better lever. Whats the side on like? But given your dial dont go mad mate in terms of mods/costs etc
  9. PeteM

    Four crocodiles

These look great mate Like them all
  10. Gen PreV ?? Post some pics mate from the usual angles please
  11. ST4 you have shown now that your a closet gold PAM guy, I assume thats to go with your manicured nails !!! Gold PAM AAAggghHHHH!!!
  12. No worries mate The hex is on the crown as it sits against the case it is not on the gen The RB is the roller ball on the lever where it contacts the crown its not on the gen The case has the quick release system which is not on the gen It was a gen series variation from J onwards
  13. IMHO opinion yes mate but remember there are biger tells on the 196 than just the DW which is common on all the DLs I think the CB is now correct, though if you buy one make sure it has the updated CB But you have the Hex crown and RB CG lever, case etc that are bigger tells. There is a thread somewhere here where the DW position is discussed and pictured with overlines to show angle difference but if you look at the 236 rep to gen review you can see the DW for yourself as its the same on all the DLs
  14. You mean you aint sold it !!!
  15. Apologies I never saw your reply mate. I bought a couple of PVD versions recently and one had a nice finish but was very thin so it would chip scratch off easily. The other was tougher but the finish was not gen like. Both models face screws were not good So unless it was in rotation I would not recommend but I am happy with the SS once rebrushed and polished to look more gen like. ST4 never had a problem because his watches never take much abuse.....Well they wouldnt would they......As a manicurist he has very delicate way about him !!!
  16. I agree with ST4. I have seen these on a few small wrists and though they are a big looking watch they dont look daft and accuracy is suppose to be very good But can you source a good OTB Ferrari GT to go with it...and a nice pair of driving gloves Good luck mate I am sure you wont regret it
  17. Pauls buckles are awesome I wish there were some screw versions Looks great mate
  18. The DW could be released sometime early next year but at the same time you could find a V2 who knows, look how quick they were on the DLs! The movement I understand is an auto Sea gull 25J (ST) The case is completely different from a 111 this is the mini fiddy case mate
  19. Its the angle of the DW its fractionally out. As is the font which is also fractionally thinner
  20. The only place I have seen these is on the usual scam sites !! La Bomba would be a nice rep. I always liked those thick markers in T
  21. I would love to turn up at the boozer before the footie wearing that !! The blokes would really love it !!
  22. OK guys do you want to share..."Whats Black friday" I have heard of Black Monday and Black wednesday but not Friday !!
  23. Lovely watch mate And some great pics I have fallen in love with that lume mate Surprised to see that nasty gouge !! Surely someone must of realised they did it when it happened before they packed it up
  24. Firstly Congrats mate Wear it well Thanks for taking the time and sharing the pics
