Sooner than you think Also I dont think its a keen eye that would spot this... if you saw the gen then you would spot the rep as the pics of the gens really dont show what the eye would see... the milling is really obvious... so is the type face colour which is probably more obvious... As a comparison some of you may recall the 36 dial that DSN used to do... if you recall that almost boat like surround on the indices.. Sorry I am really not trying to criticise your watch mate or these reps.... I think these are great OTB reps and super value.... but I think the dial and case finish are pretty easy tells for most Ristis BUT having said that there arent that many of the most so in those terms its not a biggie Wear it well and enjoy mate... I hope you dont think any of my comments are directed at you mate

Here some good pics of the gen dial to highlight the milled indices.. see how the lume sits in the milled indices
-
Of course there are still several flaws with the dial that give the reps away on the wrist but the biggest one for me and I guess many others is still the indices issue on these reps which will never be solved given the material and manufacturing process of the rep factories... afterall just look at the PreV PreA reps even FGDs never managed to achieve this.... The indices on the gen a deep like the Pre A and PreV dials admittedly the gen pics generally dont show this clearly but if you have seen the gen you will know what I mean... I do have some gen pics if anyone wants to see what I mean...

Fiddy and 217 owners - How many straps do you have?
PeteM replied to Watchmeister's topic in The Panerai Area
Interesting... I now just have a few of the straps left !! Thanks for reminding me... but I had the black alligator semi matt with white and one with black stitching, a JV which I still have, a custom Dirk light cognac again still have this then a Cashmere and rugby calf... I did try the burgundy calf and alli but never liked them... I was going to keep the JV but I think I will let that go and keep the Dirk.. I think I liked and chose mine to be suitable for casual, formal and smart casual ... -
Your best putting this in the 'Want to buy' section... But remember there a 3 versions so make sure you know which you want and then the relative values.... Also factor in any modding that might be done such as luming or varnishing as FGDs dial are not lumed or Varnished when first purchased... Also patience as not many I think will be giving these up as there wont be anymore.... But in the meantime you can look to source the 111J case as this is the better for a PreV project though as with all better case options will need modding.. pillows and lugs.. You can get the better CG from LH plus a better crystal like a JF or Matts 1:1 crystal.Plus you can get a gen OEM A series crown ... use a Ti one as it will be PVDd they are always about on the Bay or forum sales. So there is plenty to be looking to get while you search for the dial ... mine took about 8 months....

Thats a great post and advice but just remember to check its not the AR before going the scratch route
-
No you are just showing off !! Thats a lovely pic mate
-
Generally with sapphire if its the glass itself thats scratched run your thumbnail over it... if you feel a slight indent/rut then you have 2 options.... if it does feel that way then its AR.. If crystal scratched lightly then you can buy some diamond paste and with some work you can reduce or even remove the scratch... There are 'How To's' on this.. Or you can replace it... I think there are some for sale currently in parts section.. If its the AR then you can remove in numerous ways... again check out the 'How To's' or the threads in this forum... there are a good few about. If you are not sure then assume its the AR and try removing that first.. once removed you will know for certain..then you can get diamond paste

Kuvarsit Pam 360 - dial too orange, can I get different one?
PeteM replied to rek001's topic in The Panerai Area
That I had a dial to sell mate -
The Olive Green Vero Squalo is something Dirks sell for about 200 Euros mate.... but there are other makers who do the same sort of thing for less but IMHO Dirks is the better... then MP but these are also pricey.. but I think we did discuss these before.. Or you can pick up used on Risti but you still pay a bit for them... I think it was Gainton that posted some pics of his on a PVD PAM (PreV) could be wrong but it has definitely been posted here recently
-
Thanks guys I feel very humble.... But its always my pleasure to help if I can... its what this place is all about and its not just me... I have been helped by many kind and generous guys on here too... much better than me
-
I have a Noob 111M spare dial and hands still attached to the movement... all as from factory if thats easier for you mate... plus its the better dial Then you can just get local guy to seal and waterproof or just do it yourself... By the way.... If you get some duck tape roll it into a sticky ball with stickiness on outside then push against the Caseback and while pressing it against the CB turn it and it will open the CB mate... its something a lot of guys do with their PAMs You might find the reason for your issue if you do and at least you can dry it out properly so the movement isnt so damaged
-
I think its nice but I am not sure if I would like it so shiny against the dullness of the DLC.... unless its just the lighting... but if not then I would prefer a semimatt version against the 005.. But definitely different mate....

I take it you only wear the rubber when practising a safe wrist action... ? I think your first choices will look good mate and you can never beat the JV IMHO and it has to be OEM again IMHO MX buckle is a style similar to the PreV buckle with a Logo and Panerai engraving.... it is only available from OP as a special order as they are not screw in... The MX is just a code prefix used by OP to identify thier buckles and Straps..... if you look at OEM straps they start with MX..... in the same way PAVs are designated... they were prefix codes for old PreV straps re-released in 2004.

Hmmmmm but not all Authentic Panerai movements are authentic ;) Been dying to say 'Hmmmm'
-
The Lot !! You will end up trying them all anyway!!

Give us a clue mate.... whats your taste? There are a few threads on RG showing some strap options for the LM Logo.. I personally like a light or dark cognac with ecru/beige stitching or more formal then an Alligator Honey brown or JV.. Yum Yum !! EDIT: Oo I know something thats different..... a Grey Vero Squalo with grey stitching and MX style buckle..... Orloff has some lovely MX style buckles with his initials shaped like a logo and he is pretty cheap too and in EU You can pick your leather and have him sew the buckle in for you
