They are a lovely watch.... I remember reading about them being the first to produce a Chrono with weight rotation mechanism... I also like some of those dial designs with inner coloured markers..

Hi guys Apologies in advance if I am being a thicky here but I would like to ask a couple of questions regarding the Hublot Big Bang King 48mm models from the H factory. with an A7750 movement. Now I am use to reading about the second hand issue being a bit hatchy and sometimes jumping which can be resolved generally by a watchsmith...but I have only seen the crown issue referred to but not generally discussed in detail... And as these watches commonly have an issue with the crown and stem being very 'loose' or fragile... Generally this usual occurs in the screwing in of the crown or adjusting the time etc... Can I ask 1) What causes this? 2) Is it solved by an ETA stem or crown mod? 3) Or is it only solved by the implant of a Swiss A7750? I would be interested to know the causes and solutions if thats OK please... Sorry... lastly if its solely the crown causing the issue and cannot be modded... can an alternative be sourced to resolve it?

I too was not aware of this issue ... I can say that I have dealt with Star in the past without issue but must admit I would be disappointed receiving any watch in that packaging...there is nothing wrong with using a Jiffy envelope but the watch should be well wrapped within it.. Mainly to reduce the stress of travel... But I digress.. It's not a biggie.. I think maybe Santos has placed too much reliance in his own watch smiths comments and given the over tightening of the CB and the dust on the dial .. I would suggest he is not a reliable source to place your faith in.. In such circumstances.. We all have our own opinions of what we expect from a deal and most times these expectations are met.. Sometimes they don't .. But what I find most important is the manner in which it was dealt with by Santos on the public forum... That was wrong... At that stage of the complaint and with out seeking help from the mods it should never have involved 'outing' another member... Now I ain't saying you shouldn't do that but it should be done once other avenues of resolution are exhausted... To then claim the mods are contriving against you and in particular Andy is laughable and really undermines your credibility mate... Andy and others have worked very hard and at their own expense to resolve and more importantly help you... To accuse Andy of with holding your watch smacks of the conspiracy theory and to be asked to make a donation is not unreasonable given the work and effort made by others... After all you get a fully working watch with issues created by your watch smith resolved and the certainty from evidence that the watch is fully functioning... Maybe you are unhappy with the watch maybe there are reasons you don't want it.. But please do yourself a favour accept the issue in question and raised by you.. Is unfounded... Move on mate. Learn from this and be grateful so many people went to such much effort to listen to you and help you with your concerns..it wouldn't happen elsewhere! So that donation is well worth it If you are still not happy.. Then take it on the chin mate... [censored] happens.. Sometimes you just have to bite your lip.. Say what needs to be said and move on This forum is too good to lose over something so trivial... Relatively speaking... Hopefully you can and get back to enjoying this hobby and more importantly this forum

On the subject of new rep crystals with a cyclops...
PeteM replied to w0lf's topic in The Panerai Area
Great write up mate.... Thank you taking the time to do that... I had Domi resolve the issue on mine.... He knew a crystal specialist which he sent it too... To be honest it was mainly to remove some scratches but while there... Watch has gone now but it certainly improved the issue you have discussed... It would be interesting to see some more pics of this latest 243 though.... -
who or where is the best source for gen dials?
PeteM replied to stallonepanerai's topic in The Panerai Area
Personally I would suggest Damien Hirst Or VP or eBay or these forums..... -
Wearing your watch.... Does the way you do it effect the watch?
PeteM replied to PeteM's topic in General Discussion
Makes total sense mate.. Thanks And I can see that with gens but I guess that same consideration doesnt follow with reps... exampling again say the Hublot screws... they just reproduce them to look the part rather than be the part... -
Skin tone.... sounds like my Mrs.... every choice of watch is wardrobe led !! Thanks mate I really appreciate you taking the time... I will now go and find out more 7 complications!! Shish Kebab !! Heres a link I found quickly http://patekwatch.blogspot.co.uk/2011/04/how-i-became-fascinated-with-patek.html

Wearing your watch.... Does the way you do it effect the watch?
PeteM replied to PeteM's topic in General Discussion
I never think... Just wonder!! As a life long West Ham fan... Thinking has never been an option -
Very nice Ray.... It's a lovely ladies watch Seriously though these are nice watches... Especially when you consider the price of these... Lume looks to have improved from previous ones I have seen... I did have a few of these with autos... And did like them... I just don't get why anyone would give so much money for the gen... Sort of like uboats too? Though a uboats gen is better quality IMHO. As a small suggestion if you can... Take off the top AR. Not a biggie though mate honest? Much better with the rep... Wear it well mate

I was wondering to myself if the way a watch is worn on the wrist effect the links, bars, strap etc in terms of its life span .. I am no engineer but do recall stresses, turning moments etc... And I was wondering how much the linking parts of the watch are effected by the way you wear it... And are some watches more effected than others..? For example if you wear you watch loosely... Is there more stress on the spring bars or the leather of the strap... I could imagine a PAM with tubes being pretty resilient no matter how it's worn... But say a Hublot... Could that withstand the stress of being loose better than being tighter on the wrist? I always remember reading a blog about how best to wear your watch to avoid soreness etc and the guy said to wear it properly you should be able to slip your small finger tip under the strap or bracelet to be wearing it correctly... So if you take a top heavy watch like say the Breitling SA... How would that impact on wearing it loosely..ie moving about on the wrist... Or indeed even tightly so there is a constant pull on the spring bars etc.. Now throw into that.. The rep quality of say the spring bars or say the screws of a Hublot... Then is that effect even more detrimental... I generally replace things like that anyway... But sometimes you can't as you cannot source the bits.... Any thoughts?

Oh!,, Ray... You show off ! When I grow up I want to be just like you Great pics there mate.... Thank you They are lovely watches for sure and I have no doubt about there value both monetarily and more importantly .. Sentimentally But if I wanted to find out more about these watches on the Internet .... What would these models be called? I am interested to understand the complications.... Do you or your dad wear them regularly or are they now just safe queens? How did your Dad acquire them or rather why... Looks? Investment ? The complication? The brand? Thanks again mate

Hi guys I have been researching this model and have found several threads regarding the rep CF dial... these have discussed the typeface on the dial not being horizontally level with the weave of the CF... and also vertical plumb issues... Here is a pic of the rep showing an extreme of the issue... I have tried to show what I mean and what guys have been commenting on.. But after many hours researching the gen I have found this issue is not the issue you might think... Many of the gens I have looked at have this same issue... in fact all the gens have this issue to varying degrees... These variations are not solely in respect of the typeface but also the level of DW or the hour markers etc....in relation to the CF weave. So here is a pic of the gen showing the same issue ... admittedly its not as pronounced as the rep above but it is clearly visible. I have also found talking to dealers that the reps vary... so if you are thinking of buying one.... Just make sure you contact your dealer explaining that you will not except extreme variations of this flaw and will order on the basis he will provide a decent overall dial.... then you can be content in knowing that the gen has exactly the same type of issues... Now this comment applies to the latest version of the BM 2011 with Hi beat not the older version with Lo beat. I thought I would share in the hope it helps with some of the concerns you guys have raised about this particular issue TBH I am not buying one myself.. its just something I needed to find the answer to !!
