  1. yep defo a 40mm... just look at lever tip... By the way I am now off to burn all my One Direction posters... JB is now my choice for my wall posters !! I saw Al Pacino wearing one the other day... even the 40mm looks massive on him.... bit like Jason Statham.... Though even in a few films I have seen kids wearing PAMs....
  2. I replied to your question in your thread mate.... but no... no probs Just remember there is always a risk in shipping even setting aside the rep part of it
  3. I just recieved some into UK from GZ mate... Took a week.... 4 days in clearance... So no shouldnt be a problem but remember its not risk free but is not high risk for sure ....
  4. I am not sure I aint seen him..... !! There is a guy using his moniker on here.... but obviously not the real Mike!!! The fact he said he was going ...'to get laid...' gave the game away.... we all know when its comes to women that Mike's a virgin...
  5. Try Mario... Orloff straps (great value) plus he can get rubberised leather or Jacob at Jacobstraps
  6. A few complain of this... personally never been a issue However some guys do the pot steaming thing to the rubber as they say this helps... other swap the strap around so the clasp sits the opposite way round and other do the rubbing down mod.. and I think some cut the length...
  7. You need to be careful of the term 'Grey Market'.... as in the watch trade 'grey Market' is similar to car trading from main dealers.. Many watch dealers hold a franchise license to sell the genuine watches these are issued by the marques themselves and are subject to the usual sort of regulations such as presentation rules, positioning in windows etc etc but most importantly meeting sales targets... if these targets are not met then the marque will rescind the license to sell... Therefore many of these ADs sell the gens out the back door to 'traders' we shall call them as an example.. thats a big reason you see many gens being sold with blank warranty cards... stamped by the dealer but not filled in... That way the ADs hit their sales targets but dont make thier profit on the watch if sold off RRP hence these watches can be sold in large quantities by ADs... so a trader would get a call and be told he can buy 4x Rolex SSDs 3xPAMs, 2x Breitlings, etc etc but he must buy the lot... regardless of whether the models are popular in return the trader will get a substantial cost reduction.. As I said its a bit like the main car dealers sometimes the greater value to them is in the overall sales rather than the individual sales... That is referred to as the 'Grey market'... I know a few guys in this game and they make great money but they have to sit on a lot of thier investment for long periods... so cashflow can be pretty irregular ...
  8. You forgot to mention.... 'Replicated from the genuine...' Even gens arent 1:1 in a consistency or QC sense... Just look at the way these are done in batches creates variations as we all know.. But anyone that believes any comment saying 1:1 needs to contact me.... I have a great investment opportunity
  9. You should try Domi in EU Smithy.... he has just found a new source for a crystaless AR
  10. Lovely job mate... very sweet very tasty.... I love that slate dial Beautiful
  11. Blimey mate..... now thats made it even more interesting for me..... 15000 metres!!! Shish Kebab!!! I wondered what something like this would cost? I mean surely the testing cost itself on each watch would be more than the value of the parts of the watch.... I wonder what I would think if I saw someone wearing it... I am not sure...
  12. Thanks Andy... as always we appreciate your vigilence as we do with all the mods.... and your considered reaction I hope that the member will be made aware that we welcome all to share in this community.... with the key being to 'share' not to 'use' this community... I hope having been given this opportunity he will reconsider his approach to his interaction on here and hopefully will set aside what has gone before, apologise and get himself involved in a more productive and positive way... @W0lf... ;) (Pyschic or what ?)
  13. Sorry to hear that mate.... but must say it really surprises me as I know Angus is a stand up guy and always willing to make an extra effort for us.... I am not sure why you might of had an issue... but you havent really given any details... perhaps you would care to explain more fully for the benefit of us all... Were you emailing Lalia? ie puretime.sales@ etc
  14. Saw this and was a little bit interested Sorry if its been posted but I thought some of you guys might enjoy..... makes the Omega Moon watch look like a toy in the 'Bodly go...' sense!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15uNQ0Tt31k&feature=youtube_gdata_player
  15. I have had a similar issue with a Swiss 6497 and Asian.... It was the shipping that did it... It was easily resolved by a local watchsmith, he did one of them within 60 secs of opening it and it went on for for a few years without issue.. If you spent $70 on shipping I guess it went on a trek to get there and back...
  16. I would suggest you could rep/franken build your own with a little patience and research... However if you are after the gen.. they do appear every now and then... There are a few for sale just doing a google... EW watches of BH for example
  17. Do you mean the crown guard or the lever? If its the guard itself it could be just a screw issue... if its the lever then again a pretty straight forward fix depending on the issue.. If you want to replace then just search the sales or try a WTB but to be honest I am sure you will find its an easy fix.... perhaps a better description and or pics...
  18. Looks a piece of nice work mate.... I love the look of the Turtle head lugs I think those extra thick bars (the eyes) bring out the shape.... FWIW I quite like the idea of taking the case edges between the lugs down to match the pillow corners and possibly on the sides... I like the plexi too but with the Turtle theme in mind how about keeping more of a hump in it (Shell like shape) Just my pennies worth mate... Nice work and very original... Thanks for sharing.. Where do you think you will go with the dial??
  19. Rolex Daytona I only say that because I went to few weddings pretty close to each other.. a few years back and at each one the groom was wearing a Daytona and I must say it looked very nice... it stood out and looked formal yet they can also be worn in less formal occasions once the wedding has passed... Turned out though in respect of the grooms... it was the same watch each time.... they had all borrowed it from the same guy... However if you have bigger wrists I wouldnt suggest it....
  20. F ... Thanks mate... but my eyes are going... I cant see the bird in the landscape shot... is she behind the clouds? Or just going up the pass??
  21. To me the key word is 'Rep' ... To me the definition is a watch which has been built from parts to replicate a genuine version of the watch... to that end you could argue that in some respect a rep with a gen swiss is not actually a rep in the truest sense... so at what point do you draw the line to define a rep... Is it the case, dial, hands, etc or is it the manufacturer in terms of him not being the official manufacturer or its representative... or perhaps a combination of both .... that line could be drawn in many different places depending on the individuals POV. Tx is correct... I have seen these gensteins which are to all intent and purpose a genuine watch (many made with completely gen parts or using parts supplied by the original makers/subcontractors of the actual marque except that they were not an authorised product.... so does that make them a rep? or an unauthorised issue of the watch.... This trade is generally at the higher end of the watch market sort of $35000 upwards.... its this level that makes it worth it though I have seen lesser values in the same way... Any bet set out like this is either total BS or a matter of semantics.... either way its not worth your time or consideration at any amount... In terms of say a PAM you could argue and many have that the 5218/218a is a rep.... it was made totally of genuine parts by actual employees of OP however it was not fully authorised or officially released through Cartier who owned OP at that time... Indeed after OP semi collapsed during that take over period in '96 many parts went walkies and ex-employees and employees built there own models using all those parts some with boxes papers etc some hybrids of models some copying actual models.... these can still be bought as genuine watches and were bought as genuine watches especially in the few years after OP reestablished itself.. even OP dont have records of what exactly happened to many parts etc at this time and openly admit it... indeed for many years after the take over employees were finding all sorts of old stock from OP dating back many many years... As an afterthought.... whats 1:1 mean even gens aint exactly 1:1 .... surely gens are considered in terms of consistency in quality and overall looks not being exactly the same as each other... again its a POV and a subjective test... blah blah!!
  22. I must say there was something about the white dial with the patina on a T lume.....
  23. Yes mate, Its a charateristic of the gen PAMs which has been replicated pretty well by the factories compared to before the new versions coming out last year.... There is a swirlly look at those angles to the eye created by the thickness and shape of the crystal... however the reps tend to offer less opacity within the centre of the swirl compared to the gens.. But gen crystals in addition to their shape and the champfer and in terms of their clarity and opacity vary in series and as the AR also varies within models and series then crystals do give a different look when studied closely.
  24. Hi guys The suffix of a letter refers to the year of release.... I am sure its referenced in the OP mate but basically the 'A' suffix starts in 1997 and follows every year thereon... so 'B' 1998... 'C' 1999 etc
