I went to look at the SAs on Andrews site.... and I got myself confused.... which aint hard !! From what I have read here.... the better option is the baton dial... and the latest versions appear to have a 2 part baton unlike the older version... the last time I was into these it was the V1 and Ultimate... so please excuse my ignorance. At first I thought it would be easy given some of the great threads on here but then I realised what some of the dates were on them... Now again from reading round here this better baton version seems to have other issues which the earlier version doesnt... Then there are variations on movement quality... Bezel.... strap.... clasp ... bracelet... I would like to get something I am not going to get to anal about but would like something that you guys, who I trust , would consider the better all round option.. I think I would prefer something on Bracelet... as all my PAMs are strapped as are my LTs... but if the bracelet hasnt improved much I really dont want to end feeling the need to buy a gen bracelet but then I have heard the divers strap clasp is pretty hit and miss so this only adds to my confusion , which as I said it aint hard to do that !! In addition I am not sure on the dial colour choice... In you guys opinions what looks the better under that AR and given the known flaws with the sub dials and DW etc.... With SAs I always chose white as its safe....and I have plenty of black dials so I was wondering about the blue? I am really sorry and embarassed to ask the 'Who has the best Sub' question... but like I say its got me so confused.... I even started considering something with a ling yellow dial in the 45mm !!

Panerai reps of their "Greatest hits" what is your opinion?
PeteM replied to a topic in The Panerai Area
For me when it comes to any of the older versions.... anything OP brings out wont take away whats so enjoyable about those models... I think OP, rightly or wrongly, change enough of the watch to make them nothing more than modern homages or versions of those watches... the 29M is a case in point... the different dial.. CG, Crown etc.. Overall though I like to see a lot of these new models.... though there are a few I really dislike.... For instance this year has seen the releases of several 47mms, now these are all variations on a theme but when you think that the last 47mm 50 case was the 267 and they go for 200Kand before that the 203 then I think it was a good time to release these versions.. I do think regardless of how I like some of these models it was a deliberate ploy... you may say cynical, on the part of OP to produce these latest models to take advantage of the following that OP has and the attitudes of that following to the more historic models... and more importantly their willingness to pay... the boutique editions probably underline this more than others.. But are they not only feeding demand... the fact is most of us here know, understand and enjoy PAMs.... the majority of guys buying these are after a Panerai... nothing more So to degree we are looking on these models with a squewed or even sentimental perspective.... most people buying these are wanting to flash a watch about... just look at Risi in recent years.... how much is it now about PAMs, models, History, understanding, sharing etc ? It seems to be more about look at me, look what I bought, Look how many I have etc etc I think OP are no more guilty of cynacism than we as buyers are... Eg- Look what guys over the years here and on the other forums .... who care, who understand... have helped achieve in the quality and standard of reps that we now see.. If the gen forums had that sort of passion, understanding and drive then I think we would see OP pushing forward rather than reinventing the existing models... As for exclusivity... maybe by someone having the 29M say... he will learn to appreciate it when he sees a 29B.... probably not but we can always hope... or maybe others will be driven to own the original rather than the new version.... Ooops there go the prices again then -
It's a h series mate so there wouldn't be an RB

Such a great thread.... and some great reps.. Always fancied a nice 29 or second choice a 23

Hopefully it is still to be tweaked going by the comments on PT

They both have flaws... of course But I prefer the H 005 personally... I think DSN dial especially the logo tilt and thickness of indices arent as good plus the crown in terms of thickness and the depth of the edging.. I also think the H series gen has different hands to DSNs... CG and lever is well off The other flaws are comparable to the H factory... ie case, bezel, Crystal, CB

I know for a fact Sam that the only tools you have are a hammer and a chisel...

Which watch/model are you on about mate?
-
Not something I would go for even at that price
-
I think the Cartel are playing safe with the Rep market in terms of OP.... hence limited series runs
-
It has its flaws mate..... but overall for $250 its not a bad OTB rep
-
Its not bad mate.... but the hands still aint right..and has the usual flaws we have discussed on other models... still nice OTB Though given the pics the lume colour is very difficult to assess....

In the words of the Monty Python..... PAM, PAM, PAM, PAM, PAM ,PAM, PAM, PAM ,PAM, PAM AP Roo? Whats that an Australian Marsupial ?

Mate.... I said length.... its the length of the buckle side or the shorter length of a strap that dictates how the deployant sits against your wrist.... even a 5mm difference (in length) can mean the deployant is digging into the side of your wrist rather than sitting directly under the watch (so to speak) What you are referring to is completely different issue to what I was saying however some rep straps are notoriously short or in some cases dont allow you to use all of the holes to position the deployant... Unlike gens the rep deployants all have spring bars to hold the thumbnail (ie piece you see when strap is closed with Panerai engraved on it) If you have a slightly thicker strap then rather than pulling it through the thumbnail part... just push the spring bar and release the thumbnail buckle ... the deployant then comes apart then place the strap into the thumbnail part and reattach the rest of the deployant using the spring bar locking it into place within the holes that are on either side of the thumbnail buckle... its just like replacing a bracelet or strap in the lugs of a watch.. If that dont make sense I can take some pics...

... as long as he follows the correct lubrication process it wont be so bad..... And if they really love each other I am sure he will be gentle

I honestly think those that can should be just a little more patient You never know what tomorrow may bring

Do you mean $65 from the dealers? Or is someone selling it for that? Cause then if its a dealer you got to add $15 or $30 for shipping generally!! WoW! I should post mine for sale
-
Depends on watch... for me anyway.... The good thing about a deployant is it maintains your strap in a good condition.... however if you are finding one uncomfortable then the more likely cause, whether big or small wrist is the sizing of the strap... When I say that I am not referring to the way you wear it... but the length of the strap overall especially on the buckle side of the strap... having had a few straps made and experimenting with size/length you would be surprised what a difference the length of the buckle side can make on the way the deployant sits against your wrist... even 5mm!!
