All the best to you also. I'm not sure Mr Pleasance would approve of frothy milk in his tea though. Anyway, all the best and thanks for your invaluable input. Always great suff.

Simple question, simple answer. 1. Good waterproof watch that tells you what date it is. Rolex 1665. either DRSD or GW makes no difference. 2. Robust chrono for precision timing. Omega Speedmaster Professional. So, now you know what time it is, what date it is and you can make precision timings down to a few tenths of a second. Now you need a dress watch and the picture is complete. 3. Sorry can't answer. Too many choices, too many price variables. Oh what the hell lets go for a decent rectangular 1930's longines - very affordable, very good quality. There you have it, a perfect set.

Great work, thanks for such an informative post. Well done and wear it well.

To think that you are the father of an Eagle Scout..... you should be ashamed of yourself. Banned. Unwanted, undesirable, a rogue element, tut tut.....

I now use an iMac after years of frustration with a PC. Am no computer expert at all. Quite simply I spent most of my time trying to do what I wanted to do on a PC and failing. Now, with a Mac I spend all of my time achieving what I want simply and efficiently. There is no competition. Mac wins hands down and as to price - they are worth every penny.

Hi all, Just a quick note to update interested parties of the progress of my EE Daytona which is under the knife as we speak. The modder has worked wonders making the various parts fit and I am deeply indebted to him. However, there is a problem that I thought I would air for you Daytona fans. I bought 2 replacement pushers from Ofrei as the ones fitted to my watch did not feel very good. I took advice and it was generally agreed that the EE/DW pushers are rubbish and should be replaced. My modder having received the parts and watch reports that one of the pushers is not functioning properly, it is not returning to the outward (neutral) position properly, maybe it is badly machined or something. The other pusher works perfectly. I have emailed Ofrei in the hope that they will send a replacement before I have to wait to get the faulty one back and then return it to them then wait for a replacement etc etc pain in the a**e. So all in all progress is good and once the pusher issue is sorted I shall post piccies of the finished article for your delictation. Meanwhile.... more waiting. BTW I believe that the Cousinsuk pushers are exactly the same as Ofrei ones so any UK members should buy from them and save a packet

Hi all, I was just admiring The Zigmeisters lume skills on a watch in the Rolex section and was amazed at such fine work on so small a thing as a watch dial and then I remembered this: http://www.anomalies-unlimited.com/Prayer.html As fans of small things and tiny detail I thought you might find it interesting.
-
It is a complete mystery to me how the hell a person can put lume on a dial so precisely. Lovely watch. Wear it well.

Thanks for the input, much appreciated. Plain black it is.

Only just seen this thread myself. All looking fantastic and obviously in safe and skilled hands. I know exactly what you mean about the thrill of the research and then the hunt for parts, I am at the waiting stage at the moment with my Daytona. This will be a great watch and something to be proud of. I can't wait to see the finished (is any rep ever finished? ) article. Great work so far.

Hi all Omega fans, I would just like to report a little event that happened to me last weekend. My wife, son and I went to visit friends in Geneva for the weekend. We flew into Geneva airport and I noticed that the glass from my genuine Speedmaster Professional was missing! I looked around my seat and it fell onto the floor of the aircraft. I retrieved it and pressed it back into place but I suppose I'll have to take it to an AD to be replaced/fitted properly. Has this happened to anyone else? I assume the pressure changes popped the glass out. Lucky it didn't happen on Appollo 13

Great story, the world truly is fully of.... now what's the word I'm looking for...... I know it begins with 'c'......... oh it slips my mind right now..... will you see him next Tuesday?

This thread should be removed due to the gratuitous use of a Comex rep that is likely to upset the majority of members who do not posess such a fine timepiece. Disgraceful.

Cheers chaps. Funny that when you google image 6263 daytona the very first image is one with a white tip and I have seen quite a few photos here and there also most of the images Martin Skeet created for the toolwatches book have white tips so that just made me think they were more common than they actually are. I haven't decided which way to go yet but your input is most appreciated.

Hello all, I am currently undergoing a 6263 Daytona improvement exercise and have a question for all you vintage 'tona experts in our wonderful community. The question is simply this - should the triangular tip of the large chrono second hand be white or not? I have seen (gen) photos of the tip being white and photos of the hand being the same colour all the way to the tip. I am guessing that as usual it was a Rolex lottery and both are equally correct and if so which is your favourite? Thanks.

Great to see another watch modder is born. I have not taken the plunge yet but it is only a matter of time. Threads like this are inspirational. Well done. Wear and mod it well. Oh and I hope you weren't tempted to pan fry that bracelet with a little garlic and seasoning, I fear the links would have been a little tricky to chew through. Much better to slow roast with veg and make a sauce from the juices. Yummy .

Put it on a NATO strap? That's how I wear my 1665 SD.

Great watch Nanuq. Please don't get trid of that lovely patina. I didn't think shiny shiny was your style anyway. Well may you wear.

As always you are pushing the envelope. Completely stunning in concept and execution. Another great piece is (nearly) born. Wonderful.

Fantastic. Great work and something to be truly proud of. Wear it well in good health.

Going to RM auctions at Battersea Park today (cars) and like to wear a gen at such things in case I get called out so here it is: By the way, that photo was taken very quickly and casually with my phone!

Congratulations on finding such a rare piece. Enjoy your vacation.

This place is just the best. I have been on the lucky end of kindness from fellow members and have thrown a little back into the pot myself and it really makes this place special. Good to hear there's more of it about.
