  1. The pure time GWSD does not have the correct dial. As you can see the L of the Rolex does not line up with the Coronet. This is the first tell. The L should line up with the coronet and this is evident in the MBW versions.

  8. MM, great job on the haggling. These guys have a selective markup system depending on who is looking to buy. And they have a tried and tested system now in evading the cops. Keep enjoying.
  9. Thats a really good rate. Also, heavies= triad type people
  10. I ve just picked this up and another rep from my watchsmith this morning. The other watch and her were given a full service and now she's working sweet.

  12. Hey MM. Glad to hear you are enjoying KL. Jalan Kia Peng where the Novotel is located is notorious for the massage palours and late night pick up bars. Its still however, close to all the action. Just be careful as that area is a hangout for a number of heavies. Also, if you are interested you should visit Low Yat Plaza on Jalan Bukit Bintang. This is a mecca of computer hardware and software and also mobile phones. This place is aimed at PC users and you will find the lates software at a fraction of the price. And don't forget to sample the food on Jalan Alor. KLCC (Twin Towers) is worth having a wander through too.
  13. If I am not mistaken that caseback is to accommodate the self winding rotor for probably an A7750. What someone like DW does, is he takes that rotor out to make it a self winding movement and this will also allow a thinner caseback to be used. DW has all the different casebacks available. At the end of the day you have the choice of having a self winding watch or a manual winding watch.

  15. You can try DW too. He's just ordered some and will have them in a week or 2.
  16. This is a great story and this forum defines the meaning of "community". I joined less than 6 months ago and have received nothing but great help and patience from many members. With that I have learned much more about watches in the last 6 months than I have in the last 20 years about the mechanisms of watches. And with stories like this, it brings comfort to me that there are still many decent people in this small planet of ours. Ubi, although I have never met you, you are a great bloke and you have created a fantastic watch.
  17. http://www.malaysia-maps.com/kl/bukitbintang-map.htm If you refer to the map, head to Cangkat Bukit Bintang and this is where you will find the cool bars and pubs. This runs perpendicular to Jalan Bukit Bintang and Jalan Alor (Food stalls) starts from Cangkat Bukit Bintang. So in this area you will find the best shopping, best food and best nightlife. Have fun guys. I will be heading there either in Sept or Nov.
  18. Out of all the reps in Chinatown, the Pams are pretty good as they are quite accurate and easier to rep. Some tags are good and some of the subs too but be weary of the movements. I would definitely buy all my duty free alcohol and cigarettes at the KL airport (KLIA). Much cheaper than Oz. I dare say you will enjoy the chinatown experience.
  19. I am liking the look of the black seal too. I ve got one in my drawer with a busted crown tube. I plan to shorten the crown stem so that it will sit nicely over the tube without having to screw it in.
