  1. I have a good friend who makes well in excess of 700K each year and is a watch lover. He owns a few gens and loves them. A few weeks ago I saw him with a brand new sub and asked to see it...it was a rep. He buys a gen but says the reps are so great now he'd rather put the wear and tear on a rep. He keeps the gens in the box for the right place and right time and keeps them pristine as the investments they can be. He says "I have no worries with my rep. I can work out, fix stuff around the house and just generally do anything I want without fear of messing up a near 10k watch." I can't say I blame him. He wears a rep because he loves the look and style of the gen.
  2. What's a good watch to wear when you have to move 3' of snow?!
  3. Which model IWC? I like the look of your watch.
  4. Back to my trusty Laco. I'd like to find a IWC or Stowa Flieger in rep if they're out there.
  5. Man, you all make me feel under dressed! Half the wrist shots are nice, fashionable dress shirts or sport coats. Am I the only one who wears jeans and a hooded sweatshirt?
  6. Is it strange that when I read this intro, I read it in an Irish accent? Adding to the humor factor is my lack luster accent from a New England USA guy.
  7. Thanks a lot guys, I will keep this all in mind. Sounds like a good choice for a watch. I really like this style along with the similar TAGS.
  8. Thanks for the reply, I missed this until now. I ordered from BK. The whole experience thus far has been great and it will not be my last. I appreciate that he is in the US and the response time has been good. I think the real value for me in the extra dollars is the QC. I appreciate that he won't ship it to me unless it looks right. This eliminates (mostly) a DOA watch or other issues. I like that he is a modder and he handles every watch he sells, modders are detail oriented and typically wouldn't miss glaring ommisions in quality.
  9. Your watch looks great, thanks for sharing. Where did you get it from (since you are happy with it) I've been looking at the higher end one from Andrew. I'm leaning towards the leather band as the metal would be too dressy for my application. I never wear a suit unless the function calls for it and that is a rare occasion. Any thoughts from you or others on the quality of the leather band? Doesn't have to be this particular rep as I'm sure most breitlings with the leather share the same strap quality. I know it's likely to no be top grain cow hide or alligator but something that won't fall apart and will maintain its look other than break in and wear and tear. Any complaints on this watch to date? This may be my next watch. I wish I could find an Aerospace as well.
  10. Has anyone bought a transocean recently?
  11. TT BSW0172A sorry there is no link. I have been lurking for a while but not posting so I cant post links. Of all the Breitling models, this is the one that appeals most to me. I have a few big pilot watches since that has been my style and am now leaning towards the more classic looks (not navitimer). I like this watch initially for the reasons most like a watch, it is very visually appealing to me. One of the questions I have is on reliability. With the 3 subdials, is the 7750 movement able to naturally run these functions or is it more like the 2836-2 GMT with the aditional gears and whiz-bang magic to make it happen? I like the look of the three subdials but if it requires witchcraft and trickery to make it work, then I am out. I understand this is not one of the more accurate reps out there but that is not a deal breaker to me. The circle of people I am usually around will most likely not care to even notice that I am wearing a watch let alone if it is a rep or gen. While this is something that I care about in some of the other reps, it is not vital in this particular model. With that being said..Id like it to be "close" and issues such as the sunken date wheel could be a deal breaker. What I am also interested in is overall build quality. I would like this watch to look nice and function with occasional wear for 5+ years. Of course if the 7750 doesnt love to run 3 dials, the reliability and long term life of this watch is a moot point. Ive read most of the few transocean threads on this forum and there is not a whole lot talked about in regards to its function. Just thought id see if anyone out there owns one and what their thoughts are on it.
  12. Two well known dealers are known competitors selling a similar product. Can you help me understand where there are differences? Andrew (TT) and BK both seem to get their watches from the noob factory. From what I understand, BK takes the watch a makes some of his own mods/tweaks and sells it for a little more (as he should). Am I fundamentally correct in that these are essentially the same watch? If so, what exactly does BK do that adds value to his watches. Lastly, is the added "value" worth the few extra dollars? I'd like to buy a great rep. What that means to me is that I'm looking for a quality watch that will run smooth and accurate as well as last me more than a few years. Being an exact clone is not a complete deal breaker because I will not pass it off as a gen. Saying that, I'd like it as accurate as possible but minor items such as ICHS and superlume are not as important to me as quality of fit and finish overall. And no...I won't swim with it. Money isn't an overwhelming concern ad they are priced similar and I don't mind paying the extra for a better product. I'm mainly interested in GMT MASTER IIC and DSSD (although DSSD may be just a bit "clunky" in size when compared to GMT). I'd like to tack on: Is the GMT rep worth it? I hear a lot about how the GMT hand works, just not as it should or that it only is reliable with ICHS etc. Is the movement of this watch as reliable as say a sub that doesn't have the GMT hand? I'm a pilot (for a living) and I actually like the GMT hand and (if it worked) id use it. Again, not a deal breaker if it moved, but didn't function as the gen but it IS a deal breaker if it brings down the reliability of the movement due to the added complexity and the fact that it seems it requires the ICHS to work in some cases.
