  1. This is the change from MK1 to MK2 (difference in fonts and spacing).
  2. Well, with such a big difference in dial finish over a singe generation, one would expect to find a few threads/posts in GEN forums. The silence goes to show how much the GEN owners know about their watches, and what their discussions are about.. Kudos to RWG (and other rep-forums) for the quality of content created! No wonder most of us frequent GEN forums only for news kits and some infrequent quality pics
  3. Go with the white: it is standing out as from the crowd of diver watches
  4. Nice watch. The lume on the bezel is coated with enamel or some other fixant? It is seated deeper than the lip, but I am wondering if they have some other covering it too. Wear it in good health.
  5. The plot thickens Is there any chance that the JP DSSD dials were refinished to match the special design of the watch?
  6. Well, it might have flaws, but it is a great watch, and you did it justice Enjoy and wear it in good health. Love the wrist shot
  7. Thank you for the great review! One thing that was not covered is the case: do all 5 versions share the new short/wide case or are they using the incorrect GTMiic one? From the looks, the WE one seems to be suspiciously tall.. Can't tell about the rest
  8. If you are ready to pay top $, there are some great angelus panerais that would make any WIS weak on the knees. It takes a top watchmaker to build one (angelus calibers are old and need special care), luck (to find one or two working calibers), patience (since this is not a run of the mill project), and money (for all of the previous points). Do a search of the panerai area and see what gets your attention. ps: 1000 is low for this kind of project
  9. Thank you for the review. Nice LW you got there Any more pics you want to share?
  10. Looking forward to seeing Rolli's work BTW PAM386 case (aluminum composite) is different than the PAM317 (pure ceramic). Aluminum falling on a tile from a meter high would not crack, but it would dent.. I wouldn't be very comfortable wearing a 30k watch that would shatter in the same way on a unfortunate bump on a door edge. As much as I love the 317, there is nothing in it from the diver's tool watch DNA...
  11. I got into PAM's in 2004. I liked their case design, their dial minimalism, the CG, and grew to like the plexi versions. I never thought of it as a way to set me above the rest of the people. From a snob's point of view the PAM's HAVE indeed lowered themselves considerably. Today I see them on wrists of people who have no idea what model they are wearing, what is the caliber, if it is manafacture, etc. They have become mainstream, and mainstream is uncool for the snobs Still this took away nothing of my taste towards them. Actually it is a good opportunity to educate some non-WISs Now, as much as I like them, I have to feel really sporty to wear a Marina with a suit. It is too contrasting, and usually refrain from it. I strap a 183 or a 217. In this respect I agree with the askmen's advice: for a single watch guy who is looking something to wear in a suit/business environment I would advise against a MARINA case panerai. On the other hand, the suggested AL&S is an overkill for a junior executive. Especially if he is pointed to it. These are grail watches, that one has to graduate to in order to own up and appreciate. All this discussion got me inspired to get the newly released PAM250
  12. Wow! That is so close... Thank you for the time you put in this. Appreciated.
  13. Nice watch. Wear it well. I can't wait to receive mine (currently in transit). I went for the same one (swiss, white lume).
  14. The problem is with the date part of the caliber. 10:30PM is roughly the time the slow changing of the date starts. Did you, by any chance, try to set the date (first pull of the crown) with the hands indicating that time?
  15. Great photos you got there, and a great watch! Is the dial black or dark brown?
  16. Thank you for the review and pictures. Care to comment about the dial finish?
  17. Gentlemen this is a new level of fidelity for our reps. I am sure there are things to moan about (case brushing, case height, case back height, CG, crown, date font, lume etc) but this is a landmark release. Congrats to the maker. My check out cart is adding up fast with all these latest releases: new dialed 1655, the ploprof ult v, and now this. My credit card is trembling in fear
  18. My only concern about watch testing is that sometimes the machines are good to test the integrity of the case, assuming that there is no valve operating.. if there is a valve operating they are should take into consideration the differential of the pressure (ie it should be testing the case with higher pressure on the outside of the case)
  19. Out of curiosity, was the test done with a pressure tester that you are not able to see the watch, or in a glass/metal chamber that is filled half way with water?
  20. This is H BB SS. The silver discs of the chronos say that this is not a BBKing. Stop pretending you are not a fan of Peter North: there are pics of his in fb, and he is sporting this as well as a few more Hublots and some rolies too.
  21. You need to unscrew the bezel and turn it 60o to the right..
  22. Thanks for the pics. How is the weight?
  23. Thank you. Naxos island, in Greece. Apart from the golden beaches, it has some of the best spots for kite and windsurfing.
  24. Lately the MG LV has become my daily beater. I decided it would be the main watch for my summer vacation. Light, bright, legible, and the green glass goes very well with the waters around here Enjoy: From the office: To the beach: To the sea: And below the surface: BTW Photos were taken with a Panasonic FT2.. probably one of the best cameras to enjoy the summer with
