  1. I stand corrected. It looks more like a lemania 5100 : And it is a lot thinner than the 7750 (6.1 vs 7.9mm). BTW I do like that black swatch!
  2. LX3 all the way. It has everything going for it: 2f 24mm Leica lens, HD video (1280*720), 1/1.63" sensor, lens stabilization, 11mpix (less is better ). If size is an issue, then get the latest ixus. PS: For what it is worth, I have both, along with two dslr's (400D&5d2).
  3. It looks like the Porsche flat6, has the same caliber but costs less than a tenth of it. It is leather clad too! Couldn't care less for the design and the plastic case: for 380 (SRP) use the tuned, oiled, and guaranteed swiss 7750 found in it to power your favorite REP Look at the caliber peeking out of the open back, waiting for you to give it a worthy house. http://www.swatch.co...oautomatic.html
  4. Wear it well! I see there is the SUG Germany between the lugs at 6. Nice detail!
  5. Wow! Great watch you got the Eunomians! Got my attention, and now I am considering one too Wear it well! Can we get a side by side with the U2? Two questions: How tall is it? Gen is said to be 18mm hight.. Pretty tall I would say, the case is for sure taller than the U1/U2 (non chrono calibers) Is there a He escape valve at 4o'clock? Here is a gen pic: That strap compliments it very well!
  6. This has been my go to watch whenever I go swimming. I do a bit of snorkeling and other sea sports and it has passed the test with no problem. BTW I did open it, checked all rubber seals against tear and wear, and applied silicon to the back and crown.
  7. Some more info on the GEN: 1. Sinn uses copper sulphate capsules to absorb humidity that may be present in the watch case. These capsules can help prevent fogging of the crystal when moving from hot to cold temperatures (or vice versa), and are part of Sinn's "Dry Hold" technology to provide a more stable environment for the movement. At first, these capsules show a light blue color, but over time will turn a dark blue as humidity is absorbed. These capsules should be changed in conjunction with the standard watch service intervals, which are typically every 4 to 6 years. 2. The "Ar" symbol on the dial originally stood for argon gas, but today refers to a Sinn mixture of inert gasses. These inert gasses are injected into the watch case once production is completed, and help to create a dry, corrosion-free environment.
  8. Freddy, thanks for sharing these. Love the first one!
  9. Thank you for the photos. That was a unique photo opportunity! Can we get a pic of the backs too?
  10. Well done. Nice photo and good photoshop skills!
  11. Correct But with a macro lens, when used in macro mode, f16 will generate a thin focus space. I use a sigma 150f2.8macro, and f16@50cm results in a depth of 0.75cm! That is selective focusing enough for me As a matter of fact full open @2.8 the depth of field is so slim (0.13cm) that it is either not usable or only suited for abstract pictures. Here is a nice calculator http://cpn.canon-europe.com/content/technical/depth_of_field_calculator.do (I am sure most photographers have their own bookmark for this but this can serve a few new guys)
  12. Disclaimer: Please don't take this as any form of negative criticism, I know that some of the things I am writing below are not new to all posters in this thread Read on Usually dslr's report an 'battery low' before switching off. If you are on the first charge cycle it might be self calibrating/measuring the battery. Regarding the actual pics: you have a good eye for composing things and revealing the form of the subject. Going from the P&S to the dslr you have to learn to use a new dimension: you are in control of what is in focus. Selective focus is a blessing and a curse for the photographer: in the above posted pic only a small part of the watch is in-focus. The eye of the observer will enter from the left side, examine the dial, stop moving upwards since there is an off focus pearl, go down to the end links and feel a discomfort from the off focus bezel. One could find some more interest in the folded bracelet but you can only see one link with clarity. If you had taken this pic with a P&S then almost all of the watch would have been in focus. So, why get a dslr? In photos like this I would chose a smaller aperture to allow the observer a bigger area of exploration. Versus the P&S you get better sharpness, contrast, color, and higher usable ISO. What is of even bigger interest and contrast versus the P&S is the fact that you can lead the eye of the observer where you want with proper use of the focus. You have done this perfectly in this photo: The observer can read the whole logo (fragmenting this would create a frustration), and get to feel that this is what you wanted him to notice. The rest of the pic is providing a colorful backdrop, that actually is pleasantly pushing the eye back to the center of the pic. BTW The set up of the reversing of the lens is not easy to control and as soon as you get a macro lens and a tripod (so that you can use use f16+) you will be doing giant steps forward.
  13. Nice story. Thanks for sharing.

First of all, thank you for taking your time to share this with the rest of us Rapidshare is the best way to store and share such large files. You just need to create a split archive of the folder. Try WinRar. Instead of having one zip file of 4GB, you should end up with 20files of 200MB each. Most high definition content is trafficked this way. Hope that helps.
  15. Regarding the original problem: was the watch left in the sun? Sometimes overheating can create problems similar to overwinding.

    That would be great.
  17. Here is my rank of the watches you posted: 3) The furthest from the GEN is the Ayrton Senna. The GEN is a split chrono, the 3o clock pusher is wrong etc. BTW I do own it, and ejoy every minute of it! 2) I love the Luna Rossa, and I have considered getting it a couple of times, but by looking at the pics I am not convinced that the case and bezel match in material color.. That would be a let off. 1) As for the limited to 50 pieces Hour Glass edition, it is close but not 100% there. Have a look at a GEN here: hxxp://cgi.ebay.com/HUBLOT-BIG-BANG-ALL-BLACK-2-HOUR-GLASS-TEMPUS-LIMITED_W0QQitemZ130314577875QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090624?IMSfp=TL090624178004r26751 There are other HBB with all ceramic case (that you apparently are drawn to) that are closer to the GEN than the above, but as for most REP's there will always be a difference here or there. And we are talking about 'design', not how the specific watch you will receive will be executed by the REP worker. Try to form yourself an opinion by reading all the nice reviews that are found here and there. In the end only you know what mistakes you can accept in your REP. ex. I couldn't care less for the serial numbers, others couldn't survive it.
  18. As a matter of fact this type of pressure testing is working a bit differently than what you fear: you build the pressure up inside the chamber with the watch NOT immersed. After reaching the desired pressure you submerge the watch in the water and start releasing the pressure. If there is no leak, then the watch is under no danger. If there was a leak, then the case is at higher pressure (say 3ATM) than the chamber, and there will be air exiting the case (in the form of a series of small bubbles) There is no way that water will enter the case in this scenario. Hope it clear now.
  19. Wear it well. Nice story and happy birthday The 111 was my first rep (got it of Paul of abey years back). It died because I went diving with the CG in the open position. I saved a few thousand euros that day (it could have been a gen, my stupidity couldn't care less for the price tag). Prior to that day it had withstood a few good dives. Now that I think about it, I should get a pam111 as a tribute! Where did you get yours?
  20. A stunning watch, for a price almost 1/3 of what some of us paid a few months back Or 3 times a proper AR job Wear it in good health.
  21. Here is a quick video I made of the winder I got off ebay. I was planning to do a better presentation of it, but I have been busy lately. I will re-shoot it sometime. BTW: try to have watches always in pairs, it helps balance the load better. Without further ado, here it is:
  22. The watcheden site is not working properly. You can find this and a few other HBB with stones in TT's site. I guess it will not be long till we get a Black ceramic case version..
