The problem is that all these photos are taken at 32mm wide angle, and they make the watch bulge! It is only from the pics taken further away that we can understand the actual shape of this monster. Like this one:
-
Well, it took 10 months from purchase of a SD to the 1:1 rep. I hope they can do it faster this time. Something like 5 months maybe? To that You have to add the rarity of the watch, that seems to be impossible to get at the moment. I would say we should be VERY happy if we have this rep released by next spring.. Of course there will be other versions based on photos, but these we know will take even longer to reach an acceptable level of detail.. If You are not after details, and just want a look-alike then I would say there will be a 43mmSDDS around November. PS: no inside info.
-
(-)It does look a lot thicker.and look at those crown guards. hmmm. I don't care as much for the width, but this could be a potentially top heavy watch..oh, and following first comments in TZ of people who had just seen the prototype "forget wearing this with french cuffs" (+)The bracelet looks to be a lot more refined. It reminds me the IWC's GST SS: it feels silky smooth yet strong.

Rep. The crystal is too close and low compared to the bezel.
-
This is replacing the SD. The current SD is already appreciating in price... The pearl is under the bezel protection and this is why it looks funny. The bracelet is in a sharp angle and that probably makes it less proportionate to the case.

Here is a page with some more photos of it... hxxp://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=47073

I have to admit that with the last couple of posts I do have a feeling that EL is amongst us

Debating my first rep...... Any input welcome

I agree with Spy's post. Both of these watches represent great quality at a reasonable price. Go out to the AD's and try them out. Try the rolx SeaDweller too. Then go on and order one of the three. I am sure You will be hooked Try to resist the urge to get all three in the same order. Take your time and try not to act like a kid in a candy shop (that is from some one who is currently waiting for 4new+2repair watches) -
I have bought some from EL too.. A real gentleman. You could see that he loves his watches. I still remember his musical slideshows of the pam127. If any of You guys haven't seen it, try to find it, it is worth it! Anyone has a link to it? I think it was in the the old rwg.. Here is to EL We love You even if You don't "collect" anymore.. cheers!

Most pin removers on the bay are generic ones and they will fit the PO's bracelet. I have one that I have used for my UPO and it works like a charm. Make sure You don't have the diver's extention open while adjusting it.. BTW wear it well, and do post some pics of it

I can provide food(winding)and shelter(wrist) to the unwanted black faced PN Freddy, do You have any more pics/info posted in the forum about it?

What a collection and a great photo. Thank You for sharing this. 3rd from the left, that PN is sweet...

farquar thank You for your input. I will be happy to hear more stories that never see the light of motogp.com or crash.net. I know that Hopkins is a cool guy too. Is that true? No disrespect was meant for Stoner. Actually he IS a faster racer and he has the QT, free rides, and fast race laps to prove it. But a better racer he is not. It took him 24 laps trying to figure where to overpass Rossi, trying every time to overpass in the same straight. Like a stubborn kid that will try the same thing until it sticks. Well in the end he fell (pun non intended) in the trap of missbraking that Rossi laid for him. Twice at that. He and Dani, so far, lack the mental attitude and analytical skills that is needed to beat the best. Remember Dani lowsiding Nicky out of the title? Unless he was paid to do that, what does his lack of restrain indicate? Every time one of them gets ahead of the pack in the start of the race they usually end up focusing better and running a perfect race. But Rossi has delivered his best laps under pressure, and it is this excitement that he adds to the sport. Don't crack under pressure. Reminds me a Tag ad with Senna. I believe KcS will grow even better out of this battle, and give us a couple of more nice races/championships in the following years. He seems like a genuinely good guy, living his dream, and being top at what he does. Regarding TC, a couple of KcS slides were way wider than I am used to see in the races. And what was phenomenal is that the monster would not push for a high side. That is all KcS's body control and he should get all credit for it. Of course the monster is tuned to this ridding style, and this is what has thrown Melandri to the low part of the pack. That or Melandri has been enjoying one too many proseccos during last season PS: Regarding Elias, he did cost Rossi the world title...If Elias was riding for the title, I would forgive it, but playing rough for a couple of laps so that You can get in the spot light is not 'racing' in my book.
-
It was a nice race and I admit I screamed "YESSSS" when I saw Stoner hit the dirt For Stoner's sake, he'd better not get in a fight with Rossi. This is what drove two great drivers (Biaggi and Gibernau) out of racing in the end. Even today, Gibernau, after doing some very good laps on a Ducatti commented that he doesn't feel like taking on again the Heat of competitive racing (... against Rossi) Looking forward to more races like this, regardless if in the end the machine will win the Doc. Top quote: Rossi: "I really only made one mistake, at the corkscrew when I went a bit wide but in fact the dirt had quite good grip also! " !crazy!

Robert, thank You for the feedback on the DSSD. Since You are one of the very few people to have handled it, can You give us some feedback on how it feels? Is it a SD on steroids? Does it sit like a puck on the wrist? Is the lock ring as prominent as the pics show? BTW: I know that only a few people, even in timezone, have seen it in real life, and it would be great if You could snap any kind of picture of it
-
Thank You for the laugh I hope You didn't pay too much for that box set and bracelet.

The final price of the dial, if it is to be used for a franken-watch, is insane. The final price of the dial, if it is to be used for restoring a genuine 1665, is sane: if the case is in good condition the watch will appreciate more in value than the cost of this dial.
-
Yes, it is 43mm.
-
Thank You for the reply and the pictures (forgot that the first time ). I have one UPO that I was wearing a lot last summer, but I can't bring myself to fit it in the weekly rotation It feels like the back is too thick: I have come to like my watches sitting closer to my wrist. Personnal taste here, it does suit You well.
-
Looks great. Wear it in good health BTW Does it wear as 'tall' as the UPO?

Google Browser Sync: sync bookmarks and passwords to The Cloud and all your pc's:) Forecastfox: weather system bar Hyperfox: A must have. Fast references/wiki look ups etc Piclens: one of the coolest plugins.. almost a standalone, it is so much fun browsing google/photo sites with their interface. Eurotimez has his photos on photobucket and it is so cool browsing it! And adblock etc for security..

Anyone know if the quoted 1% is in volume or in quantity sold? I would guess the other alternative channels would be eshops for people who have no idea of forum communities, Non-english fora/eshops, 'canal street's all over the world, Off-line sellers, and some shady shops/scammers selling them as genuine/stolen/preowned. I am sure the mix of quality/price differs among the above mentioned channels. I don't underestimate the power of the internet, but if it takes a day to unload 5 perfectly pictured and nicely marketed newbmariners (ttk's firesales in mind, since he is the only one quoting available pieces), then can You imagine how many where sold in Canal Street?

New Gen Rolex DeepSea Sea-Dweller 43mm case
geo1nah2a replied to Defender110's topic in The Rolex Area
I was doing the regular tour of the collectors' sites and in timeshop's found a version of it is already out. It is not a 1:1 version (no ceramic bezel, size is 40(or maybe a miss quote), the bezel is too thin, etc) but for 108usd it is a good start Actually it looks like it has the GMTiic bracelet/clasp so that alone could be worth it for some people. Unless it is correct size, I will wait for the ultimate version..
