  1. I think we should not to publish the contact/business details of an alleged rep parts supplier in a public forum. If he is not the one, why create trouble for them? And if he is, then why reveal data like this to www. I mean, if you came to know who is the supplier of sapphires for davidsen, would you publish it? My guess is that these sub contractors are making extra profit from rep parts, on top of some other regular business. If they get bullied by some lawyers, they will just stop that extra activity. And we will lose a source. What you could do with this kind of info is either use it organize a group buy, or give it to one of the low cost collectors to create an alternative supply route.. my 0.02
  2. Thank you for the report. The ratio of employees: 80% in China based and I guess most of the 20% is HQ, sales and RD. Is this what "SWISS MADE" stands for? Where are the calibers manufactured? I have read elsewhere what it takes to claim a SWISS MADE stamp, but the above info reveals a different practice. White lies anybody?
  3. Very interesting watch. I like the fact that I can see the running seconds retrograde gears. It must be very nice looking at it work. Actually you can see all 3 bridges that were added to turn this 7751 into a tri-retrograde chrono. I would change the position of the date and the logo. Take out the logo and replace it with a black date wheel window. I am sure that if Tiffany&Co had a small symbol as a logo, it would have looked so much nicer. Here is a little photoshop I did.
  4. Happy to be of some help and happy birthday for your Lady. If you need have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. FR G PS: You are right repaustria. It is a 28.8kvph, so this is why the original has 3 ticks between the second markers.
  5. I hope I can help you in making a better decision and hope some experts will chime in soon on this pic.. Look at the chrono seconds hand. See some anomalies of the blue in the lower end of it?See a big flake of the blue paint around the middle of it.. Approximately at the height of the running seconds.. Then the numbers on the dial, they look to sit square on the dial. In the original, they are emerging from the dial. Ask for a pic of the back and a profile. Not almost profile.. Full profile.. Have a look here hxxp://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tree&th=879713&mid=2950717&rid=0&rev=&reveal= hxxp://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tree&th=879713&mid=2954514&rid=0&rev=&reveal= hxxp://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tree&th=879713&mid=2950677&rid=0&rev=&reveal= Look at the blue'd steel, and the three ticks.. Then look here how the numbers are emerging from the dial hxxp://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tree&th=879713&mid=2950433&rid=0&rev=&reveal=
  6. I've seen the clip. Next frame it gets ugly..This is a suicide salmon that goes kaboom as soon as his top fin is folded.
  7. ^^^^ That Portuguese is a replica. The original has 3 ticks between the seconds markers. (not four as this replica) (the 3 ticks is there to represent the 3 ticks per second that the second hand is doing (per second 21.6kVPH) The original has the numbers embossed on the dial. If you look at a close photo of the replica, they are glued on, where as the original has them "punched" from the inside.. The original has true blue steel hands.. Not painted blue or coated blue. They are made of steel and put under fire, making them turn blue. They look black when there is no reflection on them. Search for imperfections on the hands too.. A typical sign in this replica If you look at the "6", it is slightly different in the original.. The dial of the original has a bit more sparkle and shine to it. There are slight differences in the back, but you have enough data already.. Let's not disclose everything to the scamers Good luck
  8. Nope. It is using a 7750 with a date mod by Hublot.
  9. Did/Can you check the beat of the caliber? Even a slightly off beat caliber can stop under the stress of the extra gears, only to be restarted when stirred. If you feel like doing a bit of work yourself, read this thread on DIY beat and speed regulation. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=32933 This ahould be a first step before going into taking apart/oiling the a7750. Oh, and for oiling instructions, visit the ETA technical documents of the calibers. They present what type of oil goes where. This might be easier said than done..
  10. The tourbillon caliber is very interesting IMHO. It is not a flat tourbillon, but placed with a 45' tilt (since this is not a pocket watch that sits vertically in a vest pocket). Plus it is goes around in 30 sec, rather than the typical 60 sec. Look at it spin in the video found in this page. (hxxp://www.paneristi.com/archives/sihh2007_guy/tourbillon.html) Additionally it has 6 days reserve. They moved the PR indicator to the back, which is better than that obtrusive linear indicator they previously used on the dial. These were the good news. The bad: It has a blue dot on the dial. Does it perform a function? No way. If the tourbillon is not spinning, then the whole watch is not working. So, it is a price tag The bad: It has a tiny GMT AND a 24hour display (3o clock). I mean, GMT and no 24 hour division? How can you read that? Then add the 24hour display Oh, and they got the CG upside down. To answer the original question, I see no way that the functions of this watch will be rep'd. Concidering the form, I guess we could see something rolling out of the factories, but there will be too many flaws even dial side.
  11. 78kEuro or 109kUSD (without pending purchases ) PS: www.thewatchquote.com has euro list prices for most watches.
  12. This is a nice version. The rest of them remind me of various other watches (AP, Breit, Tag namely). This, I would buy.
  13. Reviving an old thread. We had come to name that black/black Big Bang the HBBBatwatch.. Guess what. There is now a genuine called : BAT BANG!!! Come on. J C B is stealing our ideas? He should investigate us instead of hunt us. hxxp://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tree&th=930754&mid=3165114&rid=0&rev=&reveal= It is a different model, since it is using the tourbillon caliber, and a new dial. I don't like it and on top of that it comes at an insane price (105k$)(limited edition of 50 pcs). I mean, look at the dial.. It has three elements that imitate technical parts (gears etc) and they do NOTHING. That is not wise for a company that is trying to go in manufacture status. That is technical bling bling.
  14. JCB on the Mag Bang "The new "in house" concept is based on a 7750, but the ebauche is made in house and in a new magnesium alloy. Together with a "in house" case which is also made in the same alloy." Watch the term "in house", the definition of 'concept', and the absence of "hublonium" Hublot time zone 'spokesman', a few hours later: "Mr. Biver apologizes that he was not able to completely control the press release or announcement, which were written by his Public Relations lady, who is not a watchmaker, and does not understand the difference between "movement" and "ebauche." The press release should have said that the ebauche was made in-house. Frankly, after being a watch enthusiast for 30 years, I did not understand the difference until today." ... Yeah, right. I guess being on the payroll doesn't help either.. "Hublot spent over US$1,000,000 to make the modifications necessary to make the HUB44 in AG5 " no comments.. Is Hublot stock listed? Is the above figure audited? And the good news (ie a hint to save the day): "As a small hint for the future, you can rest assured that the multi-millions of dollars required to set up an ebauche factory were not spent solely so that Hublot could make ebauches for the 7750 in-house." I am sure this time they will get both the PR and the caliber right.
  15. Nice glow Prince. If you have no other intention for the destroyed dials, do you mind if I pay postage and get some of them out of your garbage bin?
  16. "List price US$26,900": Is this the highest price for a chrono in an aloy case (not precious metals) "Total weight: 78g" feather weight.. "The whole piece is made entirely 'in-house' at Hublot. " Guess that makes it 100% made in Switzerland? "Clasp: Simple Ardillon buckle 2 loops, in Hublonium " Adrillon is the classic tang buckle in marketing jargon
  17. Let's call it the Britney Spears of the Panerais Not what we expected...and the only thing that is decent is the back display that we know is a self illusion of the original
  18. I read that they licensed the 7750 design, so that they would revamp-redesign it as they want. As some of the people post in timezone, this is not the 'in house' they were waiting for.. I think it is clear: they have the money to buy machinery, recruit top designers, but in the end there is one thing they can't buy:time. It will take a few more months till they will release a proper in house caliber that is not limited edition (because their bigger bang IS an excellent caliber... trully unique) For the time being, they sacrificed some resources to fight the 'lightly modified eta7750' in a 20k watch oxymoron and to make it possible for the gen owners to look at rep-gen photo comparisons without freaking out. PS: The Hublonium sounds like a joke and is one of the first times that I see JCB let such a banality slip by.. Maybe it is a joke??
  19. From Hublot's announcement: " Hublot is turning a page in its history book: the Swiss watchmaker can now manufacture its watches from start to finish! Today, it unveils not just the first fruits of its 'in-house' machines, but also an alloy developed within its very own workshops. The peak of its achievements is the ability to manufacture its movement AND case in a single material. The watchmaker's own alloy combines all the qualities required for both the operation and decoration of the timepiece. Hublot is to present an exclusive, unheard-of concept in the shape of its new Mag Bang. Not only is it the first time that a case and movement are being made in the same material and finish, but another world premiere is the use of Hublonium for each component! The whole piece is made entirely 'in-house' at Hublot." You can have a look at time zone's page: hxxp://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tree&goto=3151388&rid=0 The Mag Bang is so-so for me.. I have to see it in person to evaluate the gray color of this new aloy (hublonium... bad marketing IMHO) The 'in house' caliber on the other hand is very nice. It is based on the design of the 7750, but Hublot has made several design changes (materials, shape of bridges, etc) . The 7750 is a robbust caliber and these 'in house' manufactured calibers will be even better. Look at the date mod. Tight. Look at the fit and finish. Sharp. I doubt any rep manufacturer will even try to copy this caliber.. I am sure, now they have started with 'in house'7750, we'll wittness more innovations that will put to good use the machinery and personnel that Hublot has acquired lately.
  20. A price comparison for the newbies will bring a lot of troubles.. There are different versions of watches on offer. (not only diff generations.. look at the last omega PO, or the overseas, or HBB lite) Then it is the newbies that will file a claim against one of the cheapest dealers because they will not reply to their 4th email of the day.. I mean, if our best collectors (when it comes to communication) have had trouble with some people, then I imagine collectors laking communication skills will be losing money over stupid claims to PP so much faster. This will bring harm to both the collector and to the dissatisfied customer. And to the whole community in the end. I agree that competition is good, but it is not only about price. The price comparison sites have embedded ratings, reviews, hidden costs, customs policies and delivery details. Don't get me wrong, I have bought more watches from silix than from other collectors, but not my most expensive ones, or not my first ones... Do you think a newbie's nerves are strong enough to deal with an "one email per day practice" and vague progress reports? I don't mind waiting since I have no more time slots in my wrist That HBB RG PC has dominated it. A hot headed newbie would wait? Doubt it.
  21. In his listing, he says it is with sapphire. This is not the lite, this is the silix offered version. There is speculation that this is from a different factory.
  22. You are talking with a Greek guy, and you know we have a thing with history Imagine how we felt giving up the drachma, a currency 2.500 year old (wikiepedia), for the euro.
  23. Living in or traveling to a foreign country would be less frustrating if we were using a common measuring system for things like temperature, weight and distance. Imagine if the metric system had defined that the day has 10 hours, and every hour has 100 minutes, and every hour has 100 seconds. They would have reasons to claim that this is more easy to understand given it is using the decimal numeral system. Then you travel to Germany and ask for the time, and you get something like it is 5.78 and 82 seconds. Good luck getting to that meeting on time BTW , this is how the Fahrenheit scale feels to people used to the metric system (and the other way around PS: On currencies: it is not about convenience and differences of measurement. The reason we can’t have one currency has to do with money markets and macroeconomics.
  24. I heard about a month ago that there would be another manufacturer offering the HBB cheaper. Maybe this is silix's version? He has the CF dial version that is not in the lite offering of the other collectors. On the other hand Josh has confirmed that his lite version is from the manufacturer that brought the HBB in the scene. So, we might be witnessing suppliers competing. That would be good news for us. PS: There is a difference in the calibers pictured. Look at the regulating lever. The 21.6kvph has the scale, where as the 28.8 doesn't.
  25. Maybe we should start a group buy a'la AR run? The problem is that there is no way we can find 100 members that will want the exact same case... Now if you talk about 100 full gold mid links from a TT bracelet, then I am sure this could happen. PS: You could talk to some local jewlery shop too..Some of them have part of what Neil suggested you buy
