  1. Forget Tourneau, what about the stranglehold Rolex have over the US market... check this out, was posted on a gen forum a little while ago: http://www.justice.gov/usao/nye/pr/2011/2011mar10.html United States Attorney's Office Eastern District of New York March 10, 2011 PRESS RELEASE SELLER OF GRAY MARKET ROLEX WATCHES AGREES TO FORFEIT OVER $1.9 MILLION IN MERCHANDISE AND PAY A $325,000 PENALTY Loretta E. Lynch, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, today announced that Boneta, Inc., a privately owned business located in New York City’s Diamond District, has agreed to forfeit over $1.9 million worth of illegally imported Rolex watches and watch parts and to pay a $325,000 penalty, pursuant to a settlement agreement with the United States. In addition, Boneta has consented to increased penalties for any future illegal importations of trademarked merchandise. Boneta came to the attention of law enforcement after its owner, Erik Boneta, attempted to import shipments of “gray market” Rolex watches from Hong Kong through John F. Kennedy International Airport. This merchandise was authorized by Rolex for sale only outside the United States, typically at prices lower than those charged for comparable items authorized for sale within the United States. Following the seizure of the shipments, Homeland Security Investigation (HSI) agents conducted an investigation into Boneta’s import activity. The investigation led to a search of Boneta’s offices, where HSI agents seized in excess of 200 Rolex watches as well as an assortment of hundreds of Rolex watch parts. “We will enforce the laws that prohibit the illegal importation of trademarked merchandise at the border and where the merchandise is sold,” stated United States Attorney Lynch. Ms. Lynch expressed her grateful appreciation to U.S. Customs and Border Protection for its assistance in the investigation and the resolution of this matter. “HSI’s effort to enforce laws protecting copyright and trademark holders is a long term commitment,” said James T. Hayes, Jr., Special Agent-in-Charge of HSI in New York. “Our goal is to put an end to the ability of companies like Boneta, Inc., to perpetrate such illegal conduct.”
  2. V3 is coming in time for Christmas. Just kidding. Grab this one while you can! Who knows whether the next version will a) actually be an improvement or b ) ever arrive
  3. Anyone try this diver on leather yet? The ROO secs@12 straps should fit. High quality finish on this watch, and the bezel screws look just right.
  4. Wow, great photos. Here are some more of a gen AP Diver:
  5. The biggest tell is usually the person wearing it
  6. The dealers say the 2006+ Cousteau Divers are going to be released again soon, after production stopped for a while. Not sure if that list includes the Slevin on bracelet though. The new AP Diver is looking pretty good too... pic courtesy Angus
  7. Seiko Sumo SBDC001? To be re-released 44mm IWC Aquatimer Cousteau?
  8. Somehow I don't think he has access to information that Jandrew or King don't (and both of them say there's no news about a Noob V2 release)! We can live in hope I guess, but I'm not holding my breath.
  9. Sorry, never heard of them You might want to start here...
  10. No problem, here's the caseback... note the corrected Royal Oak spelling
  11. Ask one of the trusted dealers for photos of the newer version A2836 watch's caseback. These watches have the updated datewheel and caseback with the corrected "Royal Oak" spelling. My QC pics showed the correct caseback too.
  12. If Guru's buying this version, that says a lot. My one is on it's way Will go straight for AR and waterproofing. Looks like they fixed the "Roya" Oak caseback and the datewheel color now. Donerix - does yours have the updated caseback? (you mentioned it's from Robert- the 21j version?)
  13. Yannou - buckle width on this rubber strap is 24mm?
  14. Yes from reading over on RWI it seems like Noobfactory haven't got a genuine to use as a model yet, so the release is many months away. Might as well get the current version and enjoy it with all its flaws, for the price it's still a winner IMO.
  15. Hmmm well all the dealers' websites have new AP Jumbos with dials that look like this one (TXCollector's)... Avensis - I think you must have been sold the wrong one. And you didn't clarify about the second hand, I don't see a problem with it. Great photos TXCollector, watch looks super elegant! Does it feel comfortable on the wrist? Would be interesting to see it next to a IWC Ingenieur (the Ingy is also a Gerald Genta design as you know).
  16. Thinking of pulling the trigger on one of these, is there an issue with the second hand as mentioned by Avensis above? Looks amazing otherwise... thanks for the great "tear-down" pictures OP!
  17. This has to be the best of the new AP rep releases!? Heard this might be out of stock already. After the classic AP RO Jumbo this is my favorite at the moment.
  18. Before I start, a disclaimer: I'm not referring to any sales posts or members in particular, just trying to hear people's opinions on this. I would be interested to know why sellers remove the price from their sales posts after the item has sold. Leaving the price in would serve as a good rough guide for people looking to sell or buy in the future wouldn't it? What's wrong with just marking the item SOLD? Unless I'm missing something I don't see how it benefits anyone. Your thoughts?
  19. Sweet collection - I've got the same 6 watch Rainer box. Figured it might help restrict me to just 6 watches at a time. So much for that idea!
  20. How do you embed Youtube videos on here? Tried and failed!
