  1. Note by the way, this is the asshat dealer who told me they were too busy to show me an AP Royal Oak while everyone in the store was sitting down and doing nothing.
  2. She's a beauty, love the OEM Tantalum strap. Wear it well!
  3. Something like US$32,000 list from an Authorized Dealer. I got mine for $21,000 through the internet. Here's another major problem, the warranty is stamped by The HourGlass Gold Coast, Australia and the AD may not be too pleased seeing this, and may be less helpful too.
  4. I'll wait for the Breguet AD to open tomorrow and I'll make a commotion, and dispute the charges. What happened to the clasp, is that the clasp popped open, then a springbar flew out of another section of the clasp and caused it to fall to the floor. So there is an argument for manufacturer defect I guess.
  5. David Beckham wears a PAM 063 from what I saw.
  6. You're telling me.
  7. I have the same problem unfortunately, I also have to wear non-SS watches during the summer, I have a mild allergy to nickel but that problem is already well-covered for me, as most of the watches I have have display backs, are in Titanium or in gold. I get problems too if I handle some Canadian coins too much.
  8. I already balked at the prospect of paying $2000 to fix a brand new watch, but I had no choice to, because I can't sell it again. I knew servicing was going to be a lot, but doubling the amount just seems absurd. Complaining at the Purists won't do anything good, because their only consolation will be "Pay it, and you will get your watch back happily" (yeah, no sh*t).
  9. You don't think it's so awesome when you get a call from your AD confirming your worst fears. Here's the story: I was wearing my brand new Breguet Reveil du Tsar GMT/Alarm one day, when suddenly the deployment clasp popped open, and the watch came crashing to the marble floor in my apartment. It didn't look too bad, there was a major dent in the case, but everything looked fine I thought, and put it back on and continued on with my day. Then, I realized something went wrong when the alarm wasn't going off at the time I set it, at 6pm. Neither the silent or ringing alarm was working, and I sent it to the Breguet AD in Toronto a few weeks ago, they charge me $100 to send it off to Swatch Canada. Swatch Canada told me the watch would need a servicing, and that it would be close to $2000 Canadian, because it was a "Grande Complication" line model and having a striking mechanism dramatically increases the cost of servicing. I told them to go ahead with the servicing, and send it off to Switzerland. Today, I got a phone call from the Breguet AD in Toronto, where they told me that the problem was much bigger than they had suspected. The striking mechanism was actually damaged, and many parts would have to be replaced. There was also a crack on the side of the crystal which I didn't notice, and Swatch Canada didn't notice. I was also told that the movement would require a few more new parts because of the shock that occured to the watch during the fall. I was told that I would need to expect the repair and service to cost me somewhere in the ballpark of 4000 Swiss Francs, 4400 if I wanted the ding removed and that I would need to be without it for at least 6 months. To add another kick in the balls, the AD asked for an extra $100 to recieve the watch back from Breguet. $4000 just to fix a damn watch. I could buy a crap load of reps with that money.
  10. Croatia actually played quite well, I also think Brazil deserved to lose I agree. And I have made money on genuine watches before, but on replica watches, I have only lost, despite the fact that Canada is one of the hardest places to get these things through. How's this, I bought a a UN Freak and Perpetual Calendar together for $30,000, invested $1500 to bring the Freak back to brand new condition and working order, sold it for $32,000 and sold the Perpetual off for $9,000 (I could have asked for $11K and sold it, but I felt generous). Then again, it offsets the loss on the VC Overseas I had, I paid something like $10,000 for it brand new, and was only able to milk $5K out of it.
  11. It changes the date.
  12. Suede does not work with an Arktos- Period.
  13. Sell out.
  14. I believe it has to do with the way the crystal is seated, that it's under constant pressure and very prone to random shattering, unfortunately. Fortunately we have Davidsen.
  15. I have property in downtown Vancouver, if that counts for anything.
  16. I think reps are pretty believable on me, especially when I crank out the Gucci suit/pants I have for work, and the Lacoste polos I wear on golf courses, but when I start wearing the tattered jeans, football shirts, driving the Smart car around town, maybe not.
  17. Exactly the reason why I said "1968, Hah!".
  18. 1968, Hah!
  19. Of all things, just let it go... It's not worth your life over money. I have a friend that lives in London, who's wife was killed 3 years ago in a purse snatching in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, she was walking on the sidewalk when 2 men on motorcycles took her purse, she didn't let go and was dragged for a few hundred feet. She died a few days later. Also, I think watches are not a big problem, unless you're wearing Rolexes, since most people only think Rolexes are worth anything. I know in Hong Kong, the largest amount of watch-taking incidents incolve Rolexes, especially from the lone women who walk around flashing gold Datejusts and what not.
  20. England for me...................
  21. Wrong..... It's actually a very dark yellow colour, it actually looks like the colour of bad plated gold reps. I have a few Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coins, which are .9999 purity, and they are yellow in color. I also have some 24K gold jewellery, and it's also a very dark yellow, almost orange like colour. I read that 18K is designed to provide to psychological effect of what most people think pure gold looks like actually, since most people think gold is a brighter yellow. Of course, it's also a lot harder and durable, since 24K is way too easy to bend, scratch or break. I remember breaking my mom's 24K gold necklace when I was little, I tugged on it and snap, it came apart.
  22. I think it is finally safe to conclude that the movement in the 222 is NOT a 7750, but just the typical Asia 21J movement we saw quite a long time ago. There is absolutely no way that movement is a 7750, and I think there was a communication error.
  23. This year, it appears that Canada will finally broadcast every sinlge World Cup match there is to see finally. I don't have to go to work anymore, so I can stay home and watch, but I'm not going to bother with some matches. My workplace is diverse enough, that 99% of us are all into soccer (football), and that we get into constant quarrels with each other over who's the better player, or which is the better team.
  24. Let me get this straight, if your mother/father/children were in a country that was being occupied for foreign forces, and they were shot and killed, would you get over it because it was a war? I don't think so.........
