  1. To be honest, I was considering picking that genuine movement up, because I wanted to get the correct hands, and it has the correct datewheel to boot. I was thinking after I'm finished with the watch, I would tear the movement out and sell it again.
  2. Does anyone here in the United States want to be my recieving agent for a genuine purchase? I'll give you $100, plus the costs to ship it to me in Canada. Here's what you do: Help me recieve the watch in the United States, then forward it to me in Canada, since this guy refuses to send internationally. I reserve the right to reject anyone without telling you why. PS: Don't get excited, it's not some mega-money watch, it's just a cheap GP Seahawk II.
  3. FP Journe Power Reserve with gold dial.
  4. Too bad that Datograph is something like $40,000. I handled it at the dealer before, and it is a phenomenal watch. The Flyback chronograph is smooth, and the attention to detailing and finish is amazing, the movement is quite a scene to look at. No rep will ever come close to replicating the details this watch include. And welcome newbie.
  5. Both those IWCs are sweet........ Bye bye money.
  6. I feel so silly for driving a Smart car while comparing what I have with the rest of you.
  7. If I drop the watch off at an AP/Blancpain dealer, I can expect to wait for 3 or 4 months, which really sucks.
  8. Joshua's has a different caseback, incorrect clasp, and an incorrect number of diamonds on it. THe watch just doesn't look right. This one is very accurate visually.
  9. Looks like I'm in the doghouse again. I was sitting on my couch with my laptop, relaxing my foot on the coffee table, while she just walked in after taking a bath, and I was on Maciek's last picture. And unfortunately, I can't "make-up" tonight because of my broken leg.
  10. I know everyone here would expect someone like me to have a fancy car like a Porsche, Rolls Royce, Bentley, BMW and the like right? WRONG! All I drive right now is a Smart car. Yes, it's official, I wear watches that are even more expensive than my car, after my new Benz was smashed up from behind last year, I never wanted to buy an expensive car again. I'm a borderline environmentalist, I recycle everything, I reuse so much stuff, and I do composting and stuff like that too.
  11. Servicing an AP Offshore: $1200 Servicing a Blancpain Flyback Chrono: $1000 Refinishing a RO bracelet: $400 by AP Clearwater Servicing by The Zigmeister: $100-$175 You do the math.
  12. This looks awesome, much better than the other versions out there. I gotta order one of these soon for my fiance, she's sure to love it, as she loves diamonds and stuff like that.
  13. Note to self: Do not open Sgl's threads when fiance is in the same room, or in the vicinity.
  14. Well, that's the beauty of wearing Patek, APs and the like. They aren't meant to be used as showoff items, they are sort of like representations of high horlogy, and shows one tastes and appreciation for fine watchmaking. Unlike Rolex, which is used by much of the people who own them to do nothing but say "hey look, I'm super rich", and it appears Rolex wants to steer in that direction, as evidenced by it's new offerings this year.
  15. Remember too, probably one shouldn't criticize people "overpaying" for their watches, like some do when talking about Paneristi and such. If they're paying for it, then it's worth that to them. If it isn't worth that much to you, that's fine too. What we "value" is different.
  16. I guess I can also say that the beauty of replica watches is that, if you don't like it, you can resell it for a smaller loss. ON genuines, you often lose thousands when you buy new, that's why I'm resorting to gray market and used pieces now, so I can wear it for a while, and throw it back out on the market easily without much loss. And the beauty of reps too is, that you can have a lot to change for less money. It's far too easy to spend $100K in genuines if you're not careful. And I've already spent way over this amount, but sold off a lot too, in my conquest for the perfect watch. To someone like me, I will be willing to pay $100K for my ultimate watch that meets all my requirements. Perfection to me comes at a price, and what I value it as. I would not value a Panerai much, but I would value a VC, AP or Patek a lot more because of what they are.
  17. I love this forum much more than boards like the Purists and Timezone. I find there's just more excitement here in general, and there's something new everyday to be found here. It gets boring and repetitive elsewhere, simply because most people just keep bragging about what they have, etc. I am too, a collector of many genuines and replicas. I am in pursuit of the perfect watch for me, whether genuine or rep, and the conquest continues for me. The UN Freak didn't quite do it for me, and (gasp), I'll admit I'm getting a bit tired of staring at the Royal Oak's octagonal bezel. I want something outstanding, something special and innovative. This is part of the fun of horology, buying, selling, trading, searching for the right watch for you.
  18. Well, so much for bikeriding in Niagara Falls I think I'm just going to stay home and watch the Easter parade on TV.
  19. That's a genuine pic. No such luck yet, boys. I have a franken Offshore in the works right now though.
  20. Ah don't worry. I just need to be in a cast for 2 weeks, nothing major. But unfortunately, no soccer for me in these 2 weeks.
  21. Ken, post offices in Canada are open today apparently, along with banks, shops, everything on a normal Saturday. But unfortunately, I fell down a flight of stairs when going out and broke my leg, I may have to send it on Tuesday when everything returns to normal.
  22. Wearing my FP Journe Octa Phases de Lune for the first time. The excitement of finally getting to wear a Journe has no words to describe it.
  23. This is a picture of the whole package: I hope you like AP catalogues too, the Royal Oak book from 2003, and the 05-06 full line catalogue.
  24. Sorry Dutchy, admin is now heading out to the post office in Toronto-Yorkville.
