  1. Sounds like some of you are saying ignorance is bliss, happier not to know how it all works, but just happy that it does. I like digging around with PC's and figuring stuff out, breaking and fixing stuff, that is what hobbyist PC geeks do! I much rather have an inquisitive mind than not I don't have any problems with my PC rig either, everything works exactly as it should, and I built it from scratch. A PC (or Mac) is only as good as it's user allows it be, if you can't do something with it, then it's really just your fault, the computer did not fail, but the person sitting in front of it did! or you may simply have purchased the wrong spec machine for your needs, or you changed your needs afterwards. You can't just say peeps have more problems with PC's, so they must be worse, because then you are forgetting the sheer volume of people using them, compared to Mac users Also XP was out for around 7 years before vista came along, and it didn't take them the whole 7 years to get it working right, it was/is M$'s most successful and widely used OS! In my opinion Macs are sterile and boring to look at, they all look the same, sleek, but ultimately, if you have seen one, you have seen them all. At least PC's have a multitude of variation and customisation options to fit exactly to your requirements, then there's water cooling, phase change cooling, and don't forget the insane liquid nitrogen bench testing and world record attempts etc.... So much more fun! So PC's users are closed minded? not at all, they are open to all sorts of crazy things, I think you have it backwards
  2. Well I am not sure if anyone else can say, as there are not that many of these watches out there! Thanks for the heads up though I guess I will find out when one arrives, the T60 is not that expensive
  3. Hehe, yep, I know how you feel. I had to let my Seawolf go to pick this watch up! I have just found out where to get a T60 crown, that should be thicker and closer to the gen than DSN's crown. I have sent "T" over on Repgeeks an email
  4. How young, is young? I am 33 and still enjoy building and tinkering with PC's And I use my custom built, water cooled rig everyday, as it has a DVB-C HD TV card in it! Water cooled quad core (4050mhz), 2GB or 4GB RAM, and two WC 8800 ultras in SLI. Plus the OS is installed on a hardware raid card, using 2xOCZ V2 64GB SSD drives Cheers!
  5. Having looked over some genuine 027a pictures, it would appear that the DSN crown guard is actually very nice, only the crown itself is too thin, with bevelled edges, check out this gen: As you can see, the DSN replica is very close, but the gen has a thicker, straighter edged crown. Does anyone know where I could source such a crown? Cheers!
  6. I have always found them to be most helpful, and quick to reply to any question They sell a wide range of strap, some better than others, but all good value....
  7. You are welcome and thanks! I will let the PAM experts field that question!
  8. Hehe, it was his analogy, not mine You can build a really nice, accurate franken/homage watch, and there is a great deal of fun and achievement in doing so, but like you say, you can't build a genuine I am sure I have seen peeps on this board post that frankens and reps are more fun than gen watches, the same is true for building my own PC for me, it is how I got into computing. Macs are not the same in that regard at all.....
  9. Thanks red! I am struck down with the flu right now and really feel like crap, so pictures are a bit of a struggle, but here is a cropped image from one of my earlier photos To me the date font looks great, nice and thick, well defined, cleanly printed and always centered each day. The second date mag on the movement (inside the date window) really helps lift it up, and is the same method used on the gen 027a, it does not look recessed, certain (acute) angles do cut it off slightly, but then, the same thing happens on the genuine..... I personally would not use an aftermarket disc, as they can be printed poorly, and/or not always centered. The finish can look rough with them too..... DSN really did a great job!
  10. Well it should be stable, but the more complicated the hardware you install it on, the trickier it will become
  11. I am surprised that there are (seemingly) not that many buyers, but I imagine the price point is one reason, but then it does use a Swiss ETA2892+PR module, and peeps spend $700+ on Asian Hublots and the like.....
  12. Well you can hack install a modified Mac OS on any of the newest hardware really, Mac's are no different "hardware" wise to PC's really
  13. I will post pictures next week, hopefully it will have arrived by then Still no 028's in the wild yet? Surprised nobody has picked one up yet.......
  14. Well, there is some truth to it, you can build and customise your own PC, which is really a great deal of fun and I would suggest it to anyone who is technically sound, but you can't build a Mac can you?
  15. Yeah his straps are fantastic, but can take up to half a year to arrive! My last order had to be cancelled, I just could not wait any longer...... I think the large square grain alligator should go well with this 027a, at least I hope so!
  16. Yeah, I sold my Seawolf to raise some funds, turns out to be a smart choice! Just ordered a black with white stitch, large square cut alligator strap from HKTAN, I confirmed that it was ready to ship first though
  17. Opened up this little beauty today! (Well, yesterday really )
  18. Thanks kruzer00! Regarding the crown, it does sit right up to the case edge, or at least it "did". I fixed that by putting in a little rubber O ring inside the crown, so now the lever is stiffer, and the crown has some air between the case too!
  19. DSN always comes through with good watches, well, he always has for me at least! Out of interest, does anyone know where to buy a genuine black croc strap, with a large square grain cut? (24/22) I would not want it to cost a fortune either, already put quite a bit down on this watch
  20. Cool, I look forward to seeing some pictures! A T48 crown, where would I find one of those? Also, a decent strap too, because the rubber attracts too much dust for my liking.....
  21. Thanks FGD, I was hoping he had nailed it too! It was a bit of a blind purchase, as nobody else had posted any reviews of the new PR DSN PAM's
  22. The best bet would be to upload the images to imageshack, and then copy & paste the thumbnail links into your sales thread, that is what I always do Also, if you post your watches for sale in the "RWG Fundraiser - Sales" section here: http://www.rwgforum.com/forum/195-rwg-fundraiser-sales/ 10% of the sales total goes towards the forum, which can also help add to your membership fees, killing two birds with one stone Cheers!
  23. Those screws worked fine with my old AP secs@12 The best lugs were the ones that came with the rep, if you don't have any, buy a replica AP secs@12 rubber strap from a dealer, and make sure it comes with the lug ends. Will cost a lot less than $180
  24. All we need now is somebody to post some pictures of the new PVD 028 too!
  25. Yep, and the way it keeps climbing up towards 40 is really cool! Some extra shots were requested over on RG, so I may as well post them here: Also the lume is feint, but it sticks around for a long while!
