Nice Domi is doing lume work?
-
Thanks guys! The white face PAM was purchased from Homer, and the blue dial is DSN's work...... In fact the blue dial has been transformed, it was DLC coated, and had a vac dial installed. Just a case of waiting for the postman now
-
Here is another homage PAM I used to own: And another that has now moved on....
-
Yep, I purchased a dial from him, in fact the titanium DLC watch that dial went into, should be back in my hands very soon!
-
Thanks redwatch! I knew I would never wear the original watch with the crystal issue it had, it was lucky that I had another case to hand. I think the strap makes the watch really, it fits the case finish so well
-
Just picked up a homage PAM from an RWG auction, I received the watch within a few days, and it was a really nice piece, with a great strap too, thanks alexsedlex! But the crystal had a couple of tiny specs embedded inside it, trust my hawk eyes to spot it! So I decided to take it apart and see what I could do with the parts. I had a PVD PAM case lying around which has a nice AR sapphire crystal, but the PVD was scratched up a bit, so I thought why not use the scratches themselves as the finish to the case? So I really went to task on the case, and took all the PVD off, then I popped the dial and movement from the auction PAM inside it, took the great looking crown from the new case, and fortunately the case back fit too, so the watch is totally unbranded! (The PVD case back was Panerai signed) I put the strap on an unbranded titanium buckle, and the watch was complete! Here are some pictures, keep clicking to expand! I think the result is really cool, the fact the the parts came together so well, to create a true unbranded homage was a stroke of luck. The strap really matches the stressed out case well, overall I think the look is unique and effective. Certainly I will never have to worry about desk diving marks with this watch! One thing that I like in particular, is that the PVD is still intact in certain areas around the CG and more importantly, inside the case. The rehaut area blends with the dial and shadows, to really create an interesting effect, and frame the dial well..... What do you guys think? Yay, or nay Cheers!

The dial on my DSN 027a is definitely recessed, if that is of any help Here is one of the images from my thread, cropped...... You can see the light catching the edge of the recessed area, it is very visible when you look at the watch

Buy the secs@12 rubber strap, it comes with end lugs and deployant buckle, should cost you next to nothing compared to AP bands prices! Just make sure to request the lugs and deployant be included, just in case Try Tony from www.Asian7750.com, great prices, and fantastic for parts. He is an off board dealer, but is fast becoming my go to guy -

Thanks sssurfer! I think you are very much correct, the bevelled edge is indeed the main issue with the DSN crown, it seems to make it look thinner! DSN is a gent too, he has just offered me some store credit off a future purchase, to help with the regulation costs, very nice of him! -

Well, as an owner of the 027a and watches with avitt's excellent DLC coating, you will not regret either choice! -

Not sure I get what you are saying? You mean to say a Swiss ETA watch costing over $750 should not be expected to keep accurate time and be wearable? -

Hehe, no way! However, he could give me some credit off future purchases, or offer a partial refund, due to the regulation/serving expenses I will have to pay..... -

I have heard that there is no "bedding in" period for ETA movements, and to be honest even if that were true, over five minutes in a 24 hour period is way too inaccurate. It is losing a good few seconds every hour or so, not every day like you would come to expect from automatic movements...... Hopefully DSN will sort something out for me, after all, it is not a cheap watch! -

Sweet, looks good, nice strap too! How is it running? Mine seems to run a few minutes slow every 24 hours or so, which is a shame, I contacted DSN, it needs regulating...... -
Well that comment really wasn't aimed at you Pug In fact what you describe sounds very familiar. I did the same trick on the AMD CPU's too, back in the day. I also upgraded the CPU in my laptop, although that was a while ago, and now my folks use it.... Building you own rig is never cheaper, and in fact causes more issues than off the shelf PC's ever could. I had a hard time explaining to a mate why I didn't want to build him a PC after he saw my WC rig. His budget was way to small for it to be of any worth, and if a part went wrong, it was a warranty for "that part", not the whole rig. He came round in the end, when I showed him my "back up" parts bin, just in case something does fail I don't bench test at all any more, although I have run my fair share of 3D mark tests in the past. I do still game, and it is nice to be able to crank things up to 1600x1050, or 1920x1080 with all the eye candy switched on. The 8800 ultras in SLI may be a few generations old as cards go, but the 4Ghz+ quad really gets the most out of them, so they still shine The quad was my last purchase in quite a while, and a great stepping too, I won't need to upgrade for a long while yet, I don't need to be on the edge with the latest tech, as my two old GFX cards show! Macs really would not suite any of my needs at all though, and seeing as they are basically the same hardware as PC's now, all they have are there looks and OS, and for me, as mentioned, that is not a selling point......

When I pull the existing DSN crown out fully, there is about 1mm or so spare room between the crown, and crown guard..... We will have the answer as soon as the T60 arrives! -
