I have a 24" 1080p LCD monitor (1920x1200), that I use for watching blu-ray and HD material. I can see the difference between 720p and 1080p with ease, if you can't you may have a rubbish LCD TV, or a 1366x768 pixel LCD TV, in which case you will never get true 1920x1080 on screen, but a scaled down image..... As I said before, it all depends on your viewing distance too, sit too far away and you can't see the difference, one of the main reasons for me asking all customers about their intended TV setup.....

Virgin Media only have BBC HD and VOD HD content right now With Sky in the driving seat for HD within the UK, they will not sell Virgin Media (UK cable) any HD channels for a reasonable price. Sky are in court at the moment, over various different things with VM and other companies, over this type of matter....... Sky have no interest in selling VM any of their HD content, as VM are a direct competitor. It is kind of a bad state of affairs that Sky hold such a dominant position in the UK market... I have heard rumours that VM will beef up their HD content somehow, when bandwidth is freed up from the total analogue switch off, over their cable network Cheers!

Grrr..i got no luck. Sweep isnt smooth now after repair.
Mickey Padge replied to vizsladog's topic in The Rolex Area
If it is using a low beat Asian movement, it will always "tick" a little bit, regardless of lint etc..... As mentioned, upgrade the the high beat movement, and problem solved -
Open up the clock on your PC (double click, bottom right), each second hand tick of the PC clock, should have roughly 8 beats for 28k, or 6 for 21k I can hear them, maybe I just have good hearing?

HD varies between 16-20MB on BBC HD via UK cable, probably similar with Sky, nothing has ever dipped to single digits with my cable feed.... Also I have never, ever had that volume of TV's faulty through our store here in the UK, aside from maybe the cheap, budget Logik TV's or the like As for plasmas the life span has improved for sure, but the technology is still inferior to LCD, especially now that the contrast issues and response times have been massively improved with modern LCD TV's, add the supurb frame interpolation, and SD/HDTV has never looked so good on LCD.... Every customer that saw the series 6 with Sky HD source was amazed, the same feed went into a top end Sony bravia, but the Sony lacked definition in the dark areas on screen, and the Samsung had a real depth of image to it, everybody noticed it, which is saying a lot On plasmas shifting or rotating the stationary image to avoid screen burn, still results in screen burn. It just leaves a slightly "fuzzy round the edges" screen burn, I have seen it on quite a few sets...... Cheers!

I think EMS is $30-35

Comparison Skyland Black and Grey Dials
Mickey Padge replied to lanikai's topic in The Breitling Area
Hehe, bum cleavage, boob cleavage, it's all good (unless it is a sweaty construction worker etc.... ) -
Well you will soon find out then You could always go to and AD (not with your rep watch!) and look at a few gen watches, then casually put one to your ear after the watch starts up If you listen to your watch now, it may sound like 7-8 beats per second with high beat, and noticably less with low beat.... Cheers!

Comparison Skyland Black and Grey Dials
Mickey Padge replied to lanikai's topic in The Breitling Area
But strapless is not quite the same -
If you have access to a known high beat 28k movement, you will be able to tell the movements beat, with both watches in a quiet room, by placing the watch to your ear and listening It is easy to tell the slow beat from the high every time with ease, using the above method, if they sound the same, or one is slower it will be obvious I have had high beat watches with really jerky movement of the second hand before, so visual inspection of the hand sweep does not always give the right answer.... Cheers!

Beautiful watch indeed, stunning I think you should maybe install one of these though http://www.pmwf.com/Watches/WATCHSALES04/W...orRolex1680.htm Cheers!

Anything under 42" and you are wasting the HD signal? Can't see the difference between 720p and 1080p? I could not agree less Plasmas may have better blacks, but certainly not in the under

Comparison Skyland Black and Grey Dials
Mickey Padge replied to lanikai's topic in The Breitling Area
Great post as ever! Very helpful for those still unsure which way to go dial wise I have a black and grey dial Skyland now, as I thought they both looked great, I could not chose between the two! Here is a picture of the grey dial on a genuine Breitling black croc strap: Cheers! -
1080i will look fantastic on most modern 1080p TV's, as the TV will convert "i" to "p" anyway, as LCD's and plasmas can't display an interlaced (i) signal, only progressive (p). A cheap crappy TV will not convert an i signal well, and sometimes you can see interlace artifacts on the screen (tiny horizontal tearing around the edges of things on screen, more noticable with fast motion) 1080p is not a broadcast standard, but blu ray is 1080p, and that also looks supurb

The picture quality on 50" plasmas for
-
I would suggest the Samsung LE40A656A1F Series 6 40" LCD TV every time The picture quality is amazing, deep blacks, bright whites and smooth motion, with motion plus (interpolates extra frames to smooth motion). It is 1080p too, which is the best HD standard. I have one hooked into Sky HD at work, and nothing touches it for picture quality. Sound is average, but then all LCD/Plasmas have mediocre sound really..... In fact any Samsung series 6 over 40" would be an excellent choice, the smaller series 6 models do not have the same picture quality, as the screen tech is not quite the same...... 1080p is a benefit to any screen, it is all depending on the viewing distance, but if you don't have Sky HD, or a HD source (blu ray) for your TV, then you are missing out. If you have no plans to ever get a HD source, then most of the LCD TV's tech is a moot point, as the old CRT TV's are best with SD pictures compared to plasma or LCD.... I would not recommend plasma, as screen burn is still an issue, no matter what peeps tell you. A lot of screens in our store have screen burn and even the "screen wipe" built into the TV menus does not really help.... Cheers!

What reps are out there that are ~40 mm?
Mickey Padge replied to whitestripes's topic in General Discussion
I have a 40mm PAM for sale right now You are right though, the trend nowdays is for larger watches, and that is true for the genuine market too.... -
New Breitling SOH Brown Dial Chrono: is it brown?
Mickey Padge replied to sbh718's topic in The Breitling Area
Well I think that is very generous of the dealer, considering there is no way he could find another brown colour, they will all be exactly the same.... If you read through the forums and reviews of this watch, you will see many people commenting on the red tint the brown dial has, which seems to be exaggerated in certain lighting conditions.... It is a beautiful watch, I would keep as is if the dial and hands are "clean" and free from dust/marks etc.... Cheers! -
Never been fond of this watch, even now there is a $270 version too.....

Just get the V1 (fixed lume) black steel and use some cape cod, or the like, to take the edge off the PVD I had a non branded PVD 183 where I did the same thing, it really made the black turn grey, which is exactly what we would want
-
I think I will pass at $500-600, the lume would have to be improved massively to even consider it......
-
Nice finish on the case, but the lume is still messy as ever.....
-
Damn, me wants, me wants!
-
hehe, yep, that is one way af saying it

As for the lowered subdial, I can't really see that either, check out how it should look on the best AP rep available....
