  1. i would imagine they all have many watches, and yes phil wears a datejust with leather strap lately on the tour , seemed like i saw tiger wearing that new chrono tag the other week , i know jack nickalaus wears rolex mostly and sergio wears timex, lmao joe
  2. not bad , if u didnt use a tripod ,try one make the pics crisper but its not bad like it is joe
  3. if u have a bench grinder or a dremel , u can get u a fine abrasive wheel and do this easier and keep it only on the edges lightly till it rounds it smoothly then polish ,keep in mind keep it only on the edge so u dont messup your finish on the braclet , if u do u will have to rebrush it , hope this helps joe
  4. ask me via email , this is The Zigmeisters thread about the watch and i only posted a suggestion that may help him with his problem with this particular watch , ok thanks joe
  5. im wondering is there enough room in the back of the case to cut out like say on a minilathe to give it more room,so when u tighten the screw clamps down it will not put pressure on the movment ? just thinking about this , i have often seen where the dial presses on the datewheel when tightening the clamps down and most of the time it is because the datewheel has a overlay and is a little high in one area and one mbw had the crown tube drilled too high so when u tightened the caseback down it would barely lay on top of the crown stem, so im sure this is sort of the same deal , u will probably have to come up with a idea to make it work, good luck nice read joe
  6. reps r nice and tough and to me only lack time spent on assembly , if they were careful and spent time on insuring everything fit properly they would be of exact quality to most gens. other than some cosmetic flaws and some useing lesser metals , this is my opinion joe
  7. im sure it is the same deal as the rolex gmt with those two movments, the gmt hand size will be different and probably will be hard for u to source the correct gmt hand for the better movment , that is a problem a couple customers and i ran into, i do have a guy that can make hands but he is really expensive to make u a custom hand and it was worth it to one customer and not the other, i also had him make me and another customer some hands to fit the modified gmt with the larger hole size , hope this helps joe
  8. loving vintage today
  9. well i felt like showing u mine , lol i love these watches, notice finepics my crown is different than yours , can u tell me what ? lol
  10. i use s-100 cream u buy at the harley davidson shop , first i lightly buff it with some jewelers rouge , then clean that off not thoroughly , then i use s-100 polishing creme it has a very minor abrasive as well , this is actually what gives u this silky feeling some r talking about , then i wipe that off and sometimes i do it again if the brushed strokes r really rough feeling , then i spray it down with wd-40 let it soak for however long u want , i usually let it sit there anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour just depends what im working on at the time , then i run me a sink full of warm soapy water (i use palmaolive good for the hands they say , lol) and i use a soft bristle toothbrush and carefully remove the gunk i just put in there , then i shake it and towel it to remove excess water and then finally i blow dry it and that is what gives me the silky feeling but yes oil only is basically used to loosen up the links , hope this helps or at least clarifies your questions enjoy joe
  11. u can touch it up a bit but be careful cause u dont want to cake it on also it will always be visible when u blow pics up and or look at it with a loupe but it should be fine by looking with it with your eyes on the wrist , i would probably dilute some black gloss enamel paint (make sure it is gloss first)to do the touch up and put a couple of thin layers on building it up gradually to fill in the chips , in other words i wouldnt glob it up there ok hope this helps joe
  12. ive changed this watch around so many times to get it right its crazy , lol also i didnt like the bezel insert/bezel on the one u see above so i installed a michael young one from classic watch parts on it since this one(much better) , this is the variation i felt looked the best however , especially seeking that very slightly well aged look but well kept also keep in mind the picture in the book right beside it , that was taken on purpose for comparison as well joe
  13. this guy still gets alot of wrist time and this movment is still super solid thanks guys joe

  20. the only solid gold that i thought was true was the tt jubilee bracelets on a ladies datejust , but now after andrews post i may reconsider this thought, and the only reason is because they r so small links and it wouldnt be as costly to do , just my two cents for u joe
