  1. Murray, This may be from the same supplier of MBW's but it aint an MBW in quality compared to the 1665, 1680 etc, and I'm not knocking Paso in any way don't get me wrong. TTK was offering a 1655 from the same MBW supplier which is 1 of the 3 I mentioned in my franken but the dial on this looks different than mine and glossy too??? The case and bezel look the same, which if it is it will take a gen T116 crystal. I ended up using a different case on mine. The lug holes are a major pain to even attempt to drill out. If this is at regular MBW prices, I'd pass. You may be better off just changing the hands (see my tip for better hands) and crystal out on Andrew's $248 model (it will accept a gen T116) and give the dial a matte finish coating and aging. The Orange Hand is much better on it, but beware the lug holes aren't drilled all the way through. Basically there are no good 1655's out of the box unless you want to pay about $3500 for a Jewelry & Watch franken with gen movement.
  2. Murray, Do you have a source to get an actual MBW 1655? I'd love to know. I was tired of waiting so I had a franken put together of 3 different models available from our various dealers. Here are some pix to illustrate what can be done. Good luck in your quest and let us know if you have any special info on an MBW verison.
  3. Well with all this Daytona talk lately....
  4. Great effort Davidsen and thank you for the continous improvement. The 6's & 9's should be shaped like this.
  5. I always look for that now on franken Daytona's. I've noticed a lot of the expensive "redials" do not have this correct!
  6. I'll try and find out for you.
  7. Thanks F. It had to be frozen, a friend did the work on it but I believe it was glued.
  8. Yes Nanuq, It's time to get rid of that rust bucket! Send it to me and I'll give it a proper burial.
  9. Yes, the V2 dials are definitely improved. This is my MM 6263 with a transplanted VJ23 and a V2 dial. Euno is right the MM model is pretty much a time bomb waiting to go off. Nanuq you're one of the lucky ones! I had another DW MM and it arrived dead.
  10. Thanks O, that is a huge compliment coming from the best franken 1655 owner out there! I was told the booklet was gen but it was pretty reasonable, so who knows for sure Either way it's a fun prop.
  11. Good eye By-Tor, It is a gen T116 with the correct 2.5x mag but the date is a little larger since the crystal sits a hair higher than a gen because of the slightly raised lip/channel that the crystal is seated in. Thanks!
  12. So we'll hopefully see your 1655 soon eh Doc?
  13. This was done by a friend (I draw the line at any movement or dial work) but yes it was a broaching tool that was used.
  14. Spidel Twist-o-Flex comes to mind
  15. DBR, the minute hand needed broaching only. It was quite a score finding them, only $31 at Ofrei
  16. My franken 1655 in a higher res. I'm just lovin' this watch right now!
  17. Neil, my friend you'll be sorely missed as a dealer but I hope you'll still be around the forums. Good luck on the vinyl strap business
  18. Why does it have to be either or???
  19. For me my 6152 for sure! and the comment is usually "look at the size of that thing"
  20. I also saw Lydia wearing a PAM the other day on TV, couldn't tell what model.
