  1. Threatening a fine of twice the value of the watch has zero legal basis. I would be outraged that they can even claim the authority to know whether a watch is a rep or not. And PANERAI is Italian/Swiss, not French. What a load of [censored], but I can imagine the French being retarded enough to try that. Bags I can understand, but I would be impressed if they could pick a rep wristwatch from a metre away. I would love to take that course in rep detection, sign me up
  2. + 1000 OEM all the way if you want to go OEM-like and have it fitting under shirts. OEM straps go on Paneristi daily.
  3. Agreed with everything here. And I'd also add that, having toyed with a few different watches, I've actually found what I like and what I don't like, and would be far less averse to spending decent money on a high quality gen. I wouldn't have been in the position to risk liking it long term if I wasn't sure it suited me, so I agree with the OP that I would say high quality reps actually drive gen sales that would not otherwise have been possible.
  4. The electrons would have to be in higher quantum states so that when they fall into lower quantum states (and therefore lose energy) which would spontaneously release a photon of the same energy as the change in quantum state. Having established that, +10000, if it helps me get line this all day long, bring on the quantum electrodynamics!
  5. Latest 328 on polished Orloff croc... Njum njum!
  6. You're crazy Hike! Liking the vid though
  7. Reading 'Tesla: Man out of Time' by Margaret Cheney. Great reading. For a watch magazine, I just read the Watch Snob's articles on Askmen and laugh
  8. Every iteration looks better and better. There are some really beautiful guilloche dials for 6497/6498 that I found with google, very elegant and you could probably use them as a basis. I have a really cool idea for the inner dial, I'll draw something up and send it to you, it's hard to explain but it's heading in the right place.
  9. One is a GMT and the other is a Submariner, so they're different watches. The red one looks like ass, so the black Sub
  10. Now THAT is a man who knows his wine
  11. You can incorporate a mini dial for the seconds hand, it'll look cool! Same as the dial but reduced. A free second hand would look very out of place aesthetically.
  12. It is frustrating to see the obvious eyesores that could so easily be avoided. The slide rule lines used to be all the way to the end on the dial side but not on the slide rule side. Now they fixed the slide rule but the dial is stuffed. The Suuuuunken date wheel is an eyesore. What happened to the A7753? Did they run out after fitting them all into the Daylights? :op Dial looks reasonable, but still suffers from some obvious issues. 2mm at 40mm is also a fairly large size deviation.
  13. Is that a working power reserve indicator on this one? (excuse the noobness, new to these PAMs )
  14. Looks like a future Black Lung
  15. eBay for a 20mm Breitling style deployment/deployant (the proper word is deployant... A deployment means something entirely different The straps are either 22 or 24mm atthe lugs, but they are all 20mm at the buckle. You'll work it out
  16. Mate, don't tell anyone, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Lingman is actually a little closer to home... Big Breitling... Blinged out diamond bezel... Think about it... *taps nose*
  17. That looks awesome, liking the little details as well. Great colour!
  18. There is a very nice croc strap and gen deployant going at the moment in the straps section. Also, some nice pieces come up on the 'straps and bracelets' forum, it's only a matter of time
  19. Truer words could not be spoken. +1000000 MMA
  20. Sounds like Chuck Norris' personal postal service if you're late answering the doorbell, BAM! Flykick to the temple...
  21. The provided link is to a reputable dealer we all would purchase from. I have to commend you on a very stylish, sophisticated first choice for a rep. Usually people are after something very different as a first rep Good luck mate!
  22. Not to rain on your parade, but before you get an Open Water dive qualification you would be lucky if you got down more than 10 meters. 18 meters is the absolute maximum distance allowed with a PADI certification. Even dive instructors don't go down much past 25-30m for safety reasons, because it takes AGES to slowly resurface, otherwise you'll get the bends For diving, do what divers do and get yourself a Seiko Monster. It won't matter, you'll have a dive computer anyway, watches during diving are just for fun for us watch-lovers
  23. That's some good advice, I'll look into that.
  24. I'm not a big Hublot fan but that thing looks insanely cool even the name is cool! (oceanographic 4000... Sweet!) P.S. It beats the DSSD by a few hundred meters
