  1. 100% stolen. That story smacks of a stolen watch. I bet if you checked on a stolen high-end watches database, assuming this was registered on it, that it would come up. Something really fishy, but it definitely looks gen to me. I suppose you got a good deal
  2. Look her up on YouTube, especially the AOL sessions.
  3. I adore her style, for me she was one of the greatest singers of our generation. RIP Amy.
  4. Lume is just like a freshly married high-school couple -- it goes on all night long...
  5. Interesting point, I had a titanium Helenarou homage that I would leave on my desk with a skeletonised 6497 about a metre away, and it sounded like it was wired to explode! It could be the movement centering ring inside the case. I suspect the gen is vibrationally isolated so that any vibrations in the movement aren't as easily transferred to the case. Remember that sound waves conduct very easily in solid materials, and I doubt very much there would be a difference in this figure in rep or gen case constructions. I would suggest it's all down to how the movement is attached to the case.
  6. Absolutely shithouse weather in Melbourne... All the best to our Europeans brothers, enjoy the sun
  7. There are those two rednecks that take an explosive nail driver to a PAM... That was actually pretty funny, as one of the guys was wearing what appeared ro be a nasty Breitling Navi World rep
  8. That snake has two very un-snakelike right angles in its neck... Did you perchance intimately acquaint it with The sharp end of your shovel? Ouch...
  9. Buying a new OTB 328 from PC - $248 + shipping Having a modder relume the dial and hands - $110 Having The Zigmeister work his movement magic - $150. Reading the exchange between Wolf and Pete in the last 5 posts - PRICELESS
  10. Only about 150 million, wasn't it? The question about Russia, though tongue-in-cheek, regarded this article. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/01/cnn-sarah-palin-has-never_n_130752.html Here's the transcript on the 'Alaska' question: COURIC: You've cited Alaska's proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that? PALIN: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and on our other side, the land-- boundary that we have with-- Canada. It-- it's funny that a comment like that was-- kind of made to-- cari-- I don't know, you know? Reporters-- COURIC: Mock? PALIN: Yeah, mocked, I guess that's the word, yeah. COURIC: Explain to me why that enhances your foreign policy credentials. PALIN: Well, it certainly does because our-- our next door neighbors are foreign countries. They're in the state that I am the executive of. And there in Russia-- COURIC: Have you ever been involved with any negotiations, for example, with the Russians? PALIN: We have trade missions back and forth. We-- we do-- it's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where-- where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is-- from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to-- to our state. Oh that Palin brings a tear to one's eye
  11. Band is a giveaway dude! Doesn't take much to turn the contrast up on a computer monitor
  12. These T-Touches are fantastic! I've had a bit of a play with one, they're brilliant tool watches.
  13. EXACTLY! The same so-called WISes who turn their nose at reps will ogle at these wonderful cars and marvel at their closeness of replication and how the makers circumvented obtaining old parts. Double standards indeed! Personally I find it fascinating from a techical and economics perspective that the Asians are able to turn out such amazing replications for such a small fraction of gen cost. Now, the Cobra is pretty sweet, but tell me more about this Beck. Looks like a 50's Porsche?
  14. You have more like this and you don't share them??? That was one of the coolest posts I've ever read! This man needs his own section! ...except for the part where you were reigned into a clearing with surgical precision by several bloodythirsty wolves... That was uber-cool! Hey, is it true that you guys can see Russia from there?
  15. Are those stock shots or did I just witness a serving of your 'gentleman potatos'
  16. Is that completely stock from factory? If so, strap on an OEM strap and that is a Gen right there. Even the AR is brilliant! Not a single obvious tell for me. CG fits well to case, pin is flushed (maybe could be a bit more polished?) but dial is exquisite.
  17. They do! They're called the Sith The irony of your humorous comment is drawing the obvious parallels between Sunnis and Shiites, Catholics and Protestants, etc. who, in some cases, are so violently opposed to one another it boggles the mind. As for the Jedi thing, we here on the Island Colony got a bit of a chuckle from that it's absolutely true, once a particular fraction of the population identifies themselves as being of a particular faith, it becomes officially recognized. I'm converting to Pastafarianism, if only for the generous tax breaks. Bring on the sieve
  18. The expense is in the workmanship of the case, dial, hands and and bracelet, not that it justifies the price. Gen Breitling bracelets are works of art, and so are their dials (incidentally, so are the reps!), but not sure about Chopard's redeeming features. They are pretty but don't seem to justify the prices as well as some of the other Marques.
  19. Gents, This is officially my 1001st post I've been at RWG for well over a year and have had the distinct pleasure of making the acquaintance of several particularly interesting characters Thanks to those with whom I've bought, sold and traded, and to everyone for their advice, comments and candour on all things watch and non-watch related. I have a great admiration and respect for all of you, and I hope to put up many more thousands of posts in the years to come. Cheers gents P. (subbiesrock)
  20. Of course, the 1815. I remember this one from a discussion a while ago. What a great looking and functional movement! May have to look into this one, but I doubt the movement is even close to the gen, however beautiful in it's own right
  21. *swoons* Which one is the double-barrel with the 80+hour? I saw what looked like a 'seconds at 6' 6498 type dial. More delicious info on this one. And under 100 bucks? Mmm mmm mmm
