  1. First thing I'd suggest is to start wearing your watches the right way Regarding the BP, it's a beautiful watch. The power indicator should be moved up only if you hang around people who know about watches (or if you're a perfectionist). No way you could pull off wearing a BP if you'll be wearing it on the back of your wrist. And you need at least a 7" wrist to wear this watch so that it doesn't look comical (IMHO). Yes, you'll have to get a custom strap for it. 3717: one of the best out of the box reps out there. You can wear it with confidence without doing any mods. The day/date wheel thing is just for us anal folks. I met someone at a hotel who had a 3717 with a croc strap. I told him "nice watch!". He said thanks, and when he saw I was wearing the same watch he said "I really like the bracelet look, and I'm thinking of getting one. Do you mind if I take a look?". I said sure, took off my watch and handed it to him. He examined it and said he would be getting one as soon as he got home. Didn't notice anything about the day/date wheel, AR, etc. What I'm trying to say is that even a 3717 owner won't notice that this watch is a rep. It's that well done. The ingy is a beautiful watch, but I tried looking for a SS bracelet about 6 months ago and was told that they're no longer made, so good luck with that.

  3. I was wrong on the caseback numbering on this model. I was confused with the 3717 Laureus. Furthermore, the 3717 is not even numbered 0001, but 0003 if I'm not mistaken. Not sure how I came up with the 0001. Here's the caseback for the 3714 Laureus
  4. Unfortunately, that's the way they come out of the factory. One possible solution is to buy a standard 3714 with white tachometer ring and install a Laureus rep dial (~$40) or a gen from concepta. It wouldn't be accurate either, as a Laureus Portu would have the special engraving on the caseback. But the OP's watch is beautiful!
  5. If the sec@6 7750 wasn't so problematic, I'd own every combination of this watch. The gen crown is a nice touch indeed. The rep crown (fish) looks a bit fake IMO. One thing that kind of bothers me about this particular model is the 0001/2000 numbering on the caseback. Beautiful piece! Congratulations.
  6. When you receive it, compare it with the pics in this thread and you'll know for sure.
  7. Probably not, as the price is too good to be true.
  8. If you can't find it, and want to buy mine, here it is. Small numbers, HK tan croc strap, awesome price, trusted seller . And nobody will see the movement when it's on your wrist Beautiful watch! I've worn it twice. Little too small for my wrist.
  9. bah. Don't know what the big deal is.
  10. I understand some hackers stole some naked pics from her iphone. Can't seem to find them. Can anyone post them please? Thanks!
  11. noob here. +4 for LHOOQ. I've learned a lot from his posts regarding Rolex watches. He did quite a few comparisons on bracelets, hands... had a few projects going on in 2010 and all were well documented. His posts are always informative and well written. A distinguished gentleman. I'd also like to vote for freddy333. His knowledge regarding Rolex watches is a real asset to this board, and is always on top of things. A very nice gentleman as well.
  12. Congrats C! Want to share some advice on the keys to a successful marriage 1. marry a woman that loves you 2. a woman that always challenges you 3. a woman you always want to make love to 4. make sure those women never meet! As to the watch, a franken 3714 is the way to go.
  13. Care to explain the reasoning behind your argument? Saw Wall Street 2 last night and saw Shia's character with a pretty expensive IWC with a deployment. Also, check out this pic. That's a special edition 3714 and it has a deployment clasp.
  14. I recently bought my V72 for $787 on ebay. It was recently serviced and covered by a 6 month warranty. Here's the auction. I just hope it fits the DW 6263 case. Size w/out crown is 34mm, so I guess that's a good sign.
  15. Cool! I assume it's the same for the gen?
  16. Bought a BCE and it looks fine. Nevertheless, when the chrono buttons are in this position, chrono doesn't work. But when I unscrew the chronos, they work fine. Is this something that's easily fixable or should I return to dealer? Thanks
  17. My avatar is from the cover of Charles Mingus' album, The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady. The first song in that album ( ) changed the way I saw (or heard) music. Very influential. Never get tired of listening to that song. Besides, I think it's a cool picture.
  18. Majority of IWC reps are very well made. Most popular IWC here is the 3717. Most people change the day/date wheels for some gen ETA and also do an AR coating. Unless you're with someone who has a 3717, they won't notice the day/date wheel issue. The Big Pilot is also very nice out of the box. The 5002 is more accurate than the 5004. You will need to change the strap, though, cause there's no way you can pass the rep for a $10k watch with the strap that it comes with. If you're anal, you'll probably need to adjust the power reserve hand. But chances are you'll never meet someone who owns a Big Pilot. The Aquatimer is also very accurate. It is a little expensive, but rumor has it they will discontinue the SS strap version. The Ingenieur is also a nice watch out of the box. Main mod is the date wheel. The 3714 is a beautiful watch. Only problem is the movement. Only mod is to brush the caseback, which should be no problem. All of these watches would benefit greatly from an AR coating. But it's not something people will call you out for. The ones without a SS bracelet will need a new strap because rep straps suck. Read SD4K's guide, then read every thread he links to in that guide, and you'll be more familiarized with the brand and will be able to make a more informed decision. No other way around it. Good luck
  19. This is a special edition Portuguese (3714-50) celebrating the 125th anniversary of a Swiss retailer called Galli. 25 were made in SS. Description says brown dial, but I think it would look just as nice with the black dial, white outside dial (or whatever it's called) and a brown croc strap. This other one (3714-66) was released to celebrate the 25th anniversary of another retailer, and 50 were made in SS. Similar theme, but with white subdial instead of a complete black dial. Both beautiful pieces IMO. I like the 3714 on a brown strap! Good thing I bought spare dials with mine!
  20. I think he's talking about lume, not service the movement. I personally wouldn't pay more for a relume than I did for the watch, unless you were gonna wear the watch in a dark cave.
  21. I think it's pretty stupid that every time we write a word like c_unt, f_uck, p_iss or s_hit (among others) the board automatically substitutes it for [censored]. What are we, 10? Pussy is not among the banned words, but t_its is. So is b_itch. C_ock is banned, but cocksucker isn't. Boner is fine. Both f_ucker and motherf_ucker are no-no's. We can't say n_igger, but both spic (or spik, spick) and beaner are allowed. F_aggot is not cool, but dike / dyke = no problem. Just a few examples. Thoughts?
  22. When I first got into reps, first forum I visited was RWI. I spent about a week there. I didn't like it, but I have to be thankful because I found my dealer, Mr. Hunt, who sells at the lowest prices, knows very little English and is a nice man (he's not a dealer here). Then I found this place. I liked it from the beginning. The pros were always active (pro = 1,000+ posts), there was none of that hostility going on in other boards. After a few weeks, I discovered RG. One day it was up, the next 6 days it was down. So I said f uck it. Nevertheless, recently I discovered the 'new posts' feature and I must say this place is pretty dead. For example, there was 1 page of new posts since yesterday compared to 9 on RG. I know a couple of the users that I most respect are also active over at RG (LHOOQ, ByTor, Pugwash to name a few). Others are loyal to RWG (ubiquitous comes to mind). Just wondering if this place is like a niche... the best kept secret, or is it simply a consequence of bad advertising. Because AFAIK, the more members there are, the more VIP's and the more money for whoever runs this place. Honestly, I like it this way, and will soon be upgrading my membership.
