I don't see why not. Gen dial fits the other SMP chrono.
-
No, but she's greased to the hilt. Getting it tested tomorrow on my lunch break.

I think that's correct. If memory serves my gen was a 1164 movement...

I almost [censored] myself at the #5 response. Holy Lord...

Technically, the questions posed at the start of this thread are race related, not racist. Stating that one has "black-pride" is race-related, it is in no way racist; to be racist, one would have to add on to that statement by saying that they have "black-pride" because they are superior. Unless that addition is made, the statement is not racist, and while some may take offense to it, just because one is offended does not automatically classify a race-related statement as racist. If someone only reads or hears about someone else's statement to their national or race-related pride, and nothing further is said to the point on the subject of whether or not that pride is based on a belief of inferiority/superiority, then they would only wrongly deem that statement as "racist" because they have misinterpreting "pride" as a statement that everything else is inferior. This is incorrect. Knowing the difference clarifies the argument. The argument of the original post is obviously emotional and certainly not linear (and cloudy at best), but the main point it's driving at is "pride" due to one's background, or heritage. Straying on to topics of racism vs prejudice only clouds the issue further and is not a linear argument. Personally, I think it's neat having a family tree from Germany as "recently" arriving as the late 1920s, but my interest is only cliche and a novelty, at best. I would never call myself a xxxx-American, be it German-American or Asian-America, etc., even if I technically had dual citizenship. There's a flip-side to that coin here, though. "Pride" is only deserved of accomplishment through working at or for something; therefor, "pride" in things that you have no control over, and something you cannot work to change is absurd. Your lineage is only indicative of geography--where you happened to have been born--and/or what race/s of parents you were born to, etc.; something that is obviously out of one's control. When you think about it, someone saying "I have 'xxxx(country) pride' or 'xxxx(race) pride'", is just as absurd and ridiculous as someone saying how proud they are that the sun came up this morning. The other side of that coin is having pride in actually having worked for something. If someone is an immigrant (not having lived in a certain country for generations) and has worked at gaining their citizenship in said country, then yes, absolutely have pride in that. But it seems that most of the "pride" argument--from both sides of the race spectrum--in most countries it seems, stems from those whose families have been here for generations... odd, that. For instance, what makes more sense?: 1) a Chinese immigrant who came here 15 years ago, worked, studied, waited, tested, and gained citizenship, declaring pride that he is now an "American" or even "Asian-American", or, 2) a person who touts their "Asian-American pride", who by chance of birth happens to be of Chinese lineage, whose family's generations have been living & working in California since 1894? No, actually, that type of pride is ridiculous. This person may know where their blood-line is from, and they may enjoy the culture and the language and the food, but having pride in it is simply nonsensical. Proud of your great-grandfather for having the will-power & strength to immigrate? Absolutely! But that's pride towards a person and their determination, not their race. Unless you're someone who believes that race is a determining factor in one's ability to accomplish, then race has nothing to do with it. To me, the whole "pride" issue is simply irrelevant when based upon uncontrollable circumstance. Simply put, if the question is "what are you", the answer should be "only what your passport says". If someone asks you where your family is from, then that's a different story, but it's certainly nothing to take "pride" in. It seems overly simplified, but it's much easier for everyone to meld together if self-labeling is left out of it--from ALL sides. Whether labeling one's self or labeling someone else, it can only serve to separate.

Genuine Omega Speedmasters (Won or Purchased :D)
gioarmani replied to dbutlerman's topic in The Omega Area
Jealous... -
It depends on which model you were looking at--the old style SMP chrono with the white dial print I had a gen of has no AR at all. The new style with "Seamaster" in red, does have AR, but only one-sided. Thanks to Andreww we now know which side.

Good to know. Thanks!

Newest noobfactory blue ceramic Sub review!
gioarmani replied to gioarmani's topic in The Rolex Area
You're welcome. -
Yeah, that is a nice touch. Much more eye-popping than the old one.
-
I understand the lust of the masses on this one. I honestly didn't think I'd warm up to it as quick as I did (having loved my old style rep & gen), but to be honest, this piece has received complete wrist time for the last week.
-
My gen SMP chrono didn't have any AR, as none of the first generation did; I know the new style does have AR, but does anyone know if it's one sided or two on the genuine, and if it's only one-sided, I'm guessing it's on the top of the crystal? Thanks in advance.
-
The older style SMP chrono did not have the anti-RWG stamp. Neither did my gen, actually... Rep: Gen:

Great idea--any source for the pins? Guess I would have to have a measurement though... The insert actually was lined up correctly.

Newest noobfactory blue ceramic Sub review!
gioarmani replied to gioarmani's topic in The Rolex Area
Thanks all. To be honest, a robins-egg blue isn't a traditional color for a watch, but for some reason the color unbelievable thick & rich in person. It reminds me of those classic cars with layers and layers of deep-looking lacquer paint. It really grown on you, once you see how it's actually quite universal with clothing too. -
Next to my SMP chrono review in the Omega section, here's the other half of my latest shipment from Chris @ Eurotimez, up for review. This is a slightly different and slightly better new-style 41mm blue cerachrom Submariner, from the noobfactory. Overall, the craftsmanship, if you will, is sharper and crisper than the one I originally got from Hont. The lugs are a bit sharper, the lume is 100 times better, with crisper dial print... anyway, have a look: One of the nicest things that stood out to me on first impression was the bezel insert--the numbers are engraved a bit deeper and really takes to the paint-mod better than my last one. The pearl and it's triangle are better looking and the insert itself clearly sits below the lip of the bezel, exactly like the gen: The dial print on my previous one from Hont left a little to be desired (no offense to Hont)--the dial print was not raised at all and was printed so thin that the blue showed though the print under a loupe on the edges of the letter. here, the print is raised, nice & shiny, and quite clear: Typical of all blue-sub models, they lack the four gen-like engravings on the underside of the lugs, but other than that the case is nice and sharp, with a beautiful case-back that has sharp teeth, and sits flush & smoothly against the case: Nice CG's; same shape as the gen: The band has a nice gen-like feel to it, as nice as the DSSD, for all intents and purposes. Well constructed, perfectly symmetrical clasp & buckle: The extension isn't the proper glide-lock that was on Hont's, but I guess that's a sacrifice for a better band: Fortunately, I have another band that I can swap it out with.. Nice, clean movement, only gains 2 seconds per day so far! And I'm guessing this is the signature of the quality-control checker... Here's one of the nicest features about this noob-factory version...the lume. It glows like a proper re-lume with luminova. And it doesn't fade out nearly as fast as 99% of other reps. The pearl is different in color, and the lume is a bit green, but it's worth it for the glow. This particular lume--in pitch darkness (not shot out of laziness, being two in the morning)--was still visible over four hours later. All in all, I feel it was definitely worth the upgrade. Thanks for looking!

Here's one of my latest of 2 acquisitions from Eurotimez, the newer style Seamaster Professional Chronograph. Before buying, I was torn between the old style & new-style chronograph and--already having owned the older style--eventually went for the newer of the two. Obvious flaw of the way the letters join on the steel ohm/Omega symbol on the dial aside, this is actually a bit sharper than what I had imagined, overall. Great insert, sharp bezel, nice flush pearl: Here's a nice step-up for the band--pins that fit the links together, like the gen. They have heads that look like screws, but don't screw in; they actually need to be pushed in & out: Here's something else I like--the new "anti-counterfiet" engraving the gens are being stamped with on the case-back : The nicest thing about the band is the links are nice & tight--as far as Omegas go, having owned the gen, this is probably one of the closest to gen bands that I've ever felt. Great clasp engraving: The case construction is very solid; lovely sharp lines and crisp markings: Clean movement, and elegant rotor: Lume is good too, slightly above average for most reps: All in all I really like this piece more than I had thought, to be completely honest. The "Omega" on the dial isn't noticeable from more than a foot, so it's not really of any concern to me. One other thing I do like over the previous version is the fact that the lume on the hour-markers is ringed in metal, and not simply painted on the dial, like the original SMP chrono. Hope you enjoyed. Thanks for reading.

Review: Bergie's LV Bosphore 50 suitcase--awesome!

Any acetone solvent glue has a pretty fragile bond; no torsional strength to speak of. I sincerely doubt that joint will hold for long at all.

Don't buy rep boxes--they're garbage--buy genuine: Get a real one from watchnet.com on their trading post. Just query "rolex box" and look for a seller called "dream-watch". For resale value, absolutely. For reliability, gens are also luck of the draw. My '96 16610 was a piece of sh*t.

Definitely genuine.
