If it's a random 21j then it's not worth investing in a gen or top grade rep bracelet. the h factory rep one isn't to bad in my experience. enjoy the watch. after a few days you may totaly forget about the bracelet issue after the things settle.

Cubicworks is to be avoided in my experience. struggled for months with them. ordered two dwo white with open 6 and 9 first got silver one, then replacement again silver, then again wrong one with closed 6 and 9 and finally i gave up. ended up using the white one with modern style printing at the end.

your exp 5500 is absolutely amazing. i have recently changed a crystal on air king 5500 from cousinsuk.com and it fitted perfectly. it only costed a couple of pounds. I guess you could do a relume with vintage lume on both dial and hands to make it look even better.

i've never seen that particular model before. by the looks i'd say it's a hand winder. the condition suggests that the watch has most likely been refinished.

I have several franken datejust sets (GEN: case, bezel, caseback, crown, dial, bracelet), datewheel overlays from cubicworks, aftermarket steinkreutz acrylic crystals . All you need to complete the build is the eta 2836-2 and a set of tudor hands :-) . If any useful let me know.

have you tried dw himself? otherwise one of the trusted whatchsmiths could rework the case to fit the gen one. do you have any photos of the case hole where the tube should fit? good luck

If you want a highly convincing not to flashy rolex rep i suggest you to go with explorer 1 36mm. phenomenal watch. no obvious tells out of the box. All TDs sell it . The one you have is so good. the more i look at it the more i like it. I've been hoping for a long time to find either a full size OP exp1 dial or the whole watch but haven't got much luck yet. Also the exp style AK dials are not to easy to find. Don't know why but I am getting more and more obsessed with OPs AKs EXP1s. so far the collection contains 4 AKs (5500, 14000m and the two 114200), exp1 36mm rep. will sadly have to part with at least two of the kings. Do you by a chance know any sources for thatkind of dials apart from ebay, yuki, ndt trading, phong, dw, ingod44... ? All the best :-)

take the watch apart and glue the upper and lower case parts together with epoxy glue for metal. just make sure you align them well together

both noob factory and h-factory 005 pams are very accurate. whichever you chose you won't go wrong. if i was you i'd go for noob one

update on the case and the answer to my question: Genuine examples were produced only from 1958 to 1967. this one is 1974 so definitely a franken exp 5500

hi guys, i know this is a gen rolex in terms of case, movement... but i am wondering weather this is a redialed airking 5500 or a real out of the factory exp 1 5500 ? i'd think it's more likely a re-dialed AK but i know there are over the moon superior experts than me on this board so i'd really appreciate your opinion:-)
