  1. Hi all, I really want to put together a Boston GTG for all of the NorthEast rep-oholics! I am going to start the process of looking for a place that is pretty central to all of us so we can meet up and talk watches. GTGs are great for trading reps and seeing stuff that you have never seen before - not to mention great food, drinks, conversation, and oh yeah...drinks!! I was hoping to put this together for the end of March. I am getting some give-away stuff priced out right now. If you are interested in coming to a GTG up here in the Boston area, please post in this thread and tell me where you are coming from so that I can plan for a central location for all. Thanks and I hope to see as many of you as possible. PM Me with any questions. Steve
  2. Pugwash, that was absolutely, hilarious!! "Blades of FUKKING Glory? Are you kidding me?
  3. I am, unfortunately, not near any large gyms. The closest "big" gym near me is 35min away. A little too far for me. I suffice with the local Golds Gym. 30,000sq. ft. of juice heads and men that wear too much cologne while working out and not enough women to use as motivation while training. Oh well...back to my Twinkies.
  4. Well, I can tell you that my workout is comprised of a great mix of free weights, cable machines, and light cardio. I work out with a light weight and higher repetitions to ensure my heart rate stays elevated throughout my workout. My gym watch comes into contact with edges of machines while switching plates, weight stacks while walking through a crowded area, and the small area in and around the weights on a selecterize weight stack. So you see, the slightest bang on one of these very unforgiving surfaces could do damage to a watch of any caliber, why take the risk with one you worked so hard to get?
  5. 300 miles...damn. That is tough in a car, you did it on a bike, in snow, on the toughest terrain in North America, with -25F temperatures. Add in the wind chill factor from being on a bike... You are one tough guy, thats for sure. I am debating giving back my "man" card after seeing some of the stuff you do. I think I need a hug....
  6. I guess my gym has better clock placement?? As far as the gen vs. rep thing, I just think that we spend so much time making sure our reps are as close to gen as possible and we spend lots of money on gens(if you're fortunate enough to have one) that wearing them to the gym is just...silly. I'm sure that if you hit your wrist on a weight stack or the corner of a machine that regardless of it being gen or rep, it would not fair well. If you need a $2500-$6000. gen to tell whether its time to jump back in and do another set, then by all means, go right ahead. You worked hard for it, it's your money. I am in no way saying that you should keep the watches in the safe and never wear them out, nor am I condoning leaving them in an unlocked locker during your stay at the gym. If you MUST wear them, then of course, do so. I am fortunate enough to go to the gym after work and on weekends so I have time to go home and change and put my watches back. If you don't have that option and are working out at lunch then where you put your watch is a definite concern. My suggestion, buy a combination lock and a cheap Casio or Timex and keep it in your gym bag. That way you will have no worries when you are out there "pumping iron".
  7. I'm sorry, but I have a hard time with the "we" part of your question, Joe. If you hadn't pulled your name off the RepGeek buy list in the final minutes and entered the RWG list, this conversation would not be happening. To me, when there is a deal for 2 different forums by a dealer like that, the "we" is the collective 40 people that enter it.
  8. Bad form, guys. Ajoesmith, you are a very well respected member of all of these fora. I would not have expected that from you .
  9. I guess I don't get the whole "wearing gen Rolexes" thing to the gym. If you accidentally bang it against a stack of weights as your walking by you could do some serious damage to it. If you are doing cardio, 99.9% of the time there is a timer on the machine you are using. I think its a bit frivolous, thats all. Plus, if you can tell elapsed time on the GMT bezel by just glancing, please post the process because I'm sure they would sticky that. Otherwise, its easier to find a clock. Practical and stylish...great job, Victoria. I'm sure it will look great.

  11. I go to the gym every day and I cant figure out why someone would want to wear a watch to the gym. If I had to, I guess I would wear a Nike or Casio digital for the fear of hurting one of my reps and to be sure of water resistance in the shower/sauna.
  12. 107 visits and only 8 orders? C'mon guys, for this price, buy the damn watch and sell it to a buddy. Or just give it to a family member. When are you going to have the opportunity to buy a TTK Noobmariner from TTK himself for this kind of deal? With his stellar service and QC, this is a great deal not to be missed. Without RWG's member help, this wont get off the ground. I have one on order on the Geek already or I would get one here as well.
  13. Victoria got it right...I sent my buddy sunglasses while he was stationed in Iraq. Not super expensive ones but something that had a good UV-blocking lens and plastic frames. I also sent him things like Twizzlers, beef jerky, books of YoMamma jokes, and toothbrushes and toothpaste. That stuff is SCARCE out there and always needed. Please give your friend a pat on the back and a salute form all of us that feel he is the closest thing to a "hero" we will ever see.
  14. Next time you go on Ebay, try searching for 1665 and click the "items and descriptions" button that way you search the title and the description for that term. Some might not put it in the title. this is what I got when I did that----------> 1665
  15. PVD?pffftttt...thats old news. This bad-larry is ceramic. The PIG on the dial is just whipped cream on top of an already sweet, ceramic sundae. One of the best designs out of Firenze last year. Alas, we will never see this rep'ped in ceramic so what's the sense of going any further. SIGH So bring on the Panerai Submersible depth gauge, I say!!!!!
  16. Dutchy, I should have you talk to my wife...she thinks she's a friggin' know-it-all. Good luck with your venture. I had done it in the past and plan on doing it again very soon. Remember the words of Mario Andretti, "Find a job that you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life."
  17. I was actually referring to my OCD/ADD for puzzles such as this. It's not that its laborious, I just would not be able to sleep at night if I got one wrong.
  18. Obviously you are talking about, a time period of, when Clinton was in office, correct? As I do not see any AP or Panerai up there and we all know that those are his timepieces of choice now. Other than that...good game. I wish I had the patience to participate in it.
  19. If TTK's pictures don't make you want to go out and grab one of these, then you don't have a pulse!! Thanks TTK!!
  20. Visually, without a shadow of a doubt, the BEST replica Panerai, period!!! Can anyone tell me the difference between the 2 pics below? Please let me know if you see anything that is glaring at you. I am purchasing this one before the end of January and I will do a complete review on it once received.
  21. Absolutely, under no circumstance, does a Celine Dion shirt constitute itself as a concert t-shirt.
  22. If you see someone wearing one you can guarantee its fake! They only made 100 of them and I'm sure the owners are not sporting them around like they were 111's. I have gone to two different Paneristi GTG's with over 150 watches at each of them. The chances of seeing a 229 in the flesh are as rare as seeing a unicorn riding a shooting star wearing a concert t-shirt.
  23. I have a little different approach to collecting reps. If I see it and like it, I buy it. If I get it and I don' like the way it looks on my wrist, I sell it. Simple
