  1. Good stuff here: http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=6261 http://www.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/definitive-franken-planet-91096.html
  2. I dunno, I just snagged a POv5 with an ETA for a great price. It just seems to be the most solid of these out there, and I like the "older" features like closed back, painted dial (no wobbly numbers or logos) I'm gonna slowly franken it, I thought it was the best foundation for that..
  3. Always a few on Timezone Sales Corner
  4. I dunno, the V5 dial looks pretty good to me. These new PO's have been all over the place, crooked numbers and logos would drive me nuts!
  5. I'm in the same boat as you. sold off all my Rolex Franken-reps, going for some Omegas now. I am not impressed with what the newer reps of these have looked like, so I am after some of the older versions of these two (V5 42mm PO, or an older SMP300). There is one older version of the SMP300 that is supposed to be very close to authentic, and parts to franken these are easily found....
  6. VRF is an awesome source for parts. One dude had over 40 1675/16750 Pepsi bezels on there a while ago!
  7. Stilty's rings need a little modification, depending on the case it's going into. I have gotten a few of his, and while they worked fine in the watches that they are in, anyone can make these easily enough...
  8. While MBW's Sub offerings were the best at the time, his 1675 left a lot to be desired. I owned one briefly, here is what I remember about them. Case too thick, basically a sub case. Dial was too shiny/grainy too!
  9. Nicely done! Never really considered one of these as I am just not a "chrono guy", maybe I'll check one of these out now!
  10. So much variation on these, I'd go with silvered.
  11. I'm cobbling parts for a gilt dial now too, got a case and a movement, need a gilt dial and matching hands. I know Yuki sells hands wirh dial combos, you get a set of gilt-ed hands with his gilt 5513 dial. Not sure if it fits ETA though.
  12. Two "flat 3's" on the way from Angus! Let's see how they fit in my 2 Frankens with authentic dials!!
  13. Sweet! Love the Jubilee with these, here's mine!!
  14. Hmmmm...my case was OK with the authentic dial. It is an old school "TW best" case, but not a 1675 case. I had a few other vintage 1675 reps before I went to work on building my franken. Most of the reps out there of the 1675 are pretty bad; used the bulkier Submariner case, had wrong hand stack and mislabeled dials. Heck even the MBW 1675 I had was pretty bad, poor yellowed markers and glossy dial.
  15. I bought a pile of sub parts on RG, and there was a silvered DW in that pile. I owned an MBW 1680 that was "repaired" and the datewheel was replaced, the repairer sent it back to me with the watch after he replaced it.
  16. Got a sweet deal on a 6694 from the sales spot on timezone.com
  17. I have an extra modded Tropic 116 for mine around somewhere, if I find it I will snap a few pix...
  18. Great project watch! A "holy grail" of reps, nobody makes an accurate 1675, so "roll your own"! Here is mine:
  19. Anyone install their Angus wheel yet? Ready to bail on this whole flat three's obsessiveness, I got two silver open 6,9 round three wheels now, I'm just gonna go with them.....
  20. I'll look into that, thanks... Anyone else?
  21. Got a "Polex" 5513 case, looking to build a Gilt Dial 5513. Seen a few decent offereings out there, anyone have a good lead to a realistic Gilt Dial that will fit that case?
