  1. I have Mary's 7836 on my Snowflake and its quality is spectacular. It's right up there with all my 9315s. Changing the clasp is necessary, but there's a big tell, the end piece that connects the band to the end link is figure-8 shaped, not flat as it should be.
  2. Man, am I proud to be part of this place we call home. I'm honored to call you guys friends.
  3. Pfffffft!! I don't recognize a breaking point between the "old" RWG and this place... it's one long happy continuum for me. Now pass the beer!
  4. If you're looking for furry/leathery items you can't do better than Ken's Left Nut. What do you have for trade? It's nearly pristine with low miles and very little use.
  5. Ahhhhhh yes, back to good old RWG of 10 years ago!
  6. Ummmmm not so much, this is more like it.
  7. Welcome back POTR! Man it's been a long time!
  8. Yeah, that old timer is something to watch. He turns trees into planks to build things, makes hinges out of spruce, you name it. A true Alaskan sourdough.
  9. Hey Wanker how long ago was that? Do you remember when we could still take a 4wd over the Pass and down into Indian? Holy crap that's a steep over-and-down.
  10. This is about a mile from my house. Keep your eyes open, bears are still out!
  11. The AM Vantage ... one of the most handsome cars ever created.
  12. Nice topic! Again, should we distinguish between contemporary and vintage Rolex? I'm certainly not characteristic of how most people use their watches, but I wear my old watch friends like I wear my boots or jacket: I put them on and forget about them... they're just part of me. It's not devil-may-care, and it's not laissez-faire ... it's more like spending time with an old friend and not feeling the need to fill every moment with witty conversation.
  13. What a spectacular result! that is God's Own Watch right there. Very well done.
  14. Very nice!!! She's a lucky woman to have you.
  15. Yes please, I'll take two! I reckon you can go through life with appliances or with soul. I could drive a Toyota Landcruiser but I prefer a '63 Land Rover. I like Madshus skate skis but I prefer Trysil-Knut wooden skis. These will all "get the job done" but a few will make memories as they do.
  16. It's like driving an Audi A8 vs driving a Morgan Plus 8.
  17. Starting out the new year here in the mountains in a huge snowstorm, with fresh espresso and the Winter Classic on the tube. Go Hawks!
  18. Happy new year from Alaska!
  19. Welcome to the Tordrillo mountains, the Jurassic Park of Alaskan skiing.
  20. Thanks JS! It was worth the wait.
  21. Dear friends and honored members of RWG, I am very sorry to say I have sad news about our friend Cats. Cats was a gentleman named Bert Jager who lived in the Netherlands. He had a treasured son named Pim. After a long struggle with cancer, Bert succumbed to the disease on November 18th of this year. Bert was a gentleman and a well respected member of our small community, one of the earliest members here after we migrated from the "old" RWG, with nearly 8 years, and nearly 4,000 thoughtful posts. Bert had a kind word for everyone and his life epitomized optimism. Even in his final posts here he spoke of the joy of spending time with his son. His signature was simple, and a challenge to us all. "Carpe Diem". Seize the Day. Thank you all for your many kind words of encouragement to Bert. If you would like, there is a web site where you can leave words of encouragement for Pim. I'm sure he will treasure those in the years to come: http://www.mensenlinq.nl/overlijdensberichten/bert-jager-6023175 There is also contact information where you may send written regards that will be delivered to the family: Uitvaartbegeleiding in Harmonie T.a.v. familie Jager Oude Lind 35, 5046 AL Tilburg Netherlands Thank you all for your stalwart support of this good man. "We few, we happy few ... we band of brothers". Carpe Diem, Nanuq
  22. Thanks Legend, let's keep up the pressure until we find a way to contact Cats.
  23. Here's mine, it came from the hands of the Swiss Mountain Elves. It was made on a gen 6538 plate using the original factory techniques and materials.
