  1. Yeah I was gonna say those look like the "best quality" Many Quad eyes from MQ. Are you sure those aren't aftermarket/market/market/market?
  2. The hands were from Classic Watch Parts I believe, and are a very dark/matte gold look, a perfect match for Service hands of the era, with the thicker "Mercedes". They were lumed by Ziggy to match the dial.
  3. Thanks! It joins the pantheon of favorite pieces, which are .... two. The other is the one where you did the amazing case work!
  4. Pretty sure the white is printed to let the black show through. But hey.... I'm just a simple lad from Alaska so who knows?!
  5. I have that Minh dial for sale in another thread, now that I've got the final dial installed. It was initially the best dial I could find. I narrowed my search down to the InGod tropical vs the Minh, and ultimately went with the Minh. Compared side by side with a gen, the fonts and lettering are nearly identical.
  6. Yep, that's how the factory did it. There's a similar method for the COMEX logo but with white over black.
  7. The CWP bezel is thicker than the other offerings so it has a wider groove, that's all.
  8. No worries, dub-dub, I had one here for reference!
  9. I've seen some killer builds lately with Helenarou stuff....
  10. Here's a DRSD back, straight across Here's a Great White caseback, "curved"
  11. The octagonal bent wire piece? Try Natalie at NDT Trading, or Phong or Minh Quy has them. Classic Watch Parts should too. The CWP wire is a little thicker than the others. If all else fails some stiff wire of the right gauge might work, just nip off a length and bend it into an octagon with ends that don't quite meet when it's tucked into the groove.
  12. I did a review of the Minh band about a year ago. It was a disaster out of the box but I was able to make it work. Definitely not recommended unless you HAVE to have a rivet 7206. Yuki's is far better.
  13. Hmmmmmm.... "Dashing"? "Deplorable"? "Demonstrably Perfect"??
  14. Ww, that's a Minh bracelet with a whole lotta elbow grease. Ronin, those are scratches from coral in Hawaii, mostly polished out now (shirt sleeve technique). Thanks gents!
  15. Finally I have this finished. It finally looks like it's really 55 years old.
  16. You can still make something pretty nice out of a base Silix piece. This is as far as I could take one:
  17. Yep Minh does make good stuff. It's the best I could find for my version-1 build.
  18. .........and Minh has multiple "levels" from $300 to over $1,000. They get more gilty with price, but still are not made with technique cc33 described. Here is his $300 dial with some Big Dazza ageing texture. It's very good but it's sized for a gen case. This was my starting point for the first version of the Big Gonzo, then it went to Ziggy for a relume to the dial and hands for a more "creamy" look. Before Ziggifying After Ziggifying
  19. There's a whole bunch of decisions to make before you go full gonzo with this. If you want to build one as a test case, you can't go wrong with the parts list you've got. My first was like that and I wound up with an Athaya v2 crown (which required some specific case work) and a Big Dazza aging job on the Silix dial. In the end it came out darn close to a gen: Gen 6536/1 Silix build
