  1. My advice is to figure out which decade you want,, and that helps you figure out what shape you're looking for. Do you like the 50s? Then you're looking for a no crown guards submariner or maybe an early explorer, or GMT. If you like the 60s, then you're looking for submariners with crownguards, like the 5512 or 5513, or maybe even an early GMT with square guards. When you reach the 70s or 80s, then you're starting to look at early sea dwellers, more submariners, and getting into the transition model subs. From the 50s up through the late 70s and early 80s you're looking at plexiglass crystals, then the transition models of subs ushered in flat sapphire crystals. That's a high altitude perspective, but it might help you narrow it down.
  2. Thanks fraggle, I guess that's how the information will have to disseminate. Johnny, I haven't heard from the Boss what happened.... I'm thinking it was a DNS hiccup. I can't think of any reason for the cpanel to store information from failed login attempts, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to change the password for peace of mind?
  3. It was a small problem with the admin staff GTG ... you know how it goes, a little akvavit, a little tomfoolery, someone gets out the mountain bike, gets set on fire, and crashes into the servers.
  4. Hah, you misspelled the word "drinks"
  5. Gents I split off that amazing post by Automatico and pinned it for future reference.
  6. RastaaaaaMon!!! It's good to have you back again.
  7. Let's see some wristies on the beach! Preferably with babes in the pics.
  8. Rastaaaaaaaaa! Welcome back!
  9. I've got a red triangle insert with no minute tick marks from 0-15 but it's beat to hell. I might also have a new Phong insert similar to that if you need it? I like the 3rd picture. My original 6538 build was just like that, then I installed an Athaya crown and tube, and mounted it so the crown stuck out from the case a little further. At the case where the tube threads in there's a divot there, and I filled it with JB Weld then worked it to bring the case smooth and flush. Then new threads tapped into the JBWeld let me mount the tube so the final thread was slightly proud of the case side.
  10. Holy frijoles that thing's a beauty! Nicely done!
  11. Remember the guy in Palo Alto with all the vintage parts? Who knows?? http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/16352-rolex-parts-bin/
  12. Hah!! Nope that was my weekend McClassical selection. Next up is a little more obscure, the Requiem by Maurice Duruflé. Oh and welcome back big guy!
  13. Le Quattro Stagioni - Pina Carmirelli and I Musici
  14. "Valdez, a quaint drinking village with a fishing problem." I should tell you the story about chucking a Paul's Best Seadweller off the deck of the Resurrection Bay glacier cruise.
  15. Gnarly old hunk of tin for my snauxbike ride today.
  16. Y'know, that WAS an underhanded dig at gentlemen everywhere. There's another Alaskan here too, from Squarebanks... his handle is AKTime.
  17. Q'uyana huaspro! Sounds like you jumped in with both feet. I'm glad the guys are being gentlemen, I'd expect nothing less, they're a great bunch. What part of the Great Land are you from?
  18. Age and rarity. A T-39 vintage superdome will be around $300 and a T-17 around $600.
  19. You can check out any time you like ... but you can never leave. Welcome back to the insanity!
  20. There are Big Crown models available from Silix, and I took one as far as possible toward perfection. Then, insanity set in. Now I've built the one in the photos, which seems perfectly fine, eh? Oh, no ... of course not. It's nowhere NEAR "fine". Since those photos I've put another $500 into it, with another $1,000 waiting to be spent. It's a sickness. RUN ... while you can!
  21. Sorry Bill, here's your next crack habit. You think a Superdome 39 is addicting? Not even close.
  22. Yep, and it just changed hands again here about a month ago. It gets prettier every time.
