  1. I remember Luckyyyyyyyyyy, he was a quirky kinda guy that could get pieces from Maria. I still think he was Scotty / George ......
  2. A Most Excellent test!! Nicely done!! The baton is passed to the next generation.
  3. Cc33, are those serifs on your chapter ring's 5 minute bars?! that is God's Own Dial.
  4. Vintage Rules! That's what brought me to TRC lo these many years ago, looking for something besides a flat/ugly contemporary Sub.
  5. Yeah, I think it was $175 brand new. Y'know it's one of those Timex / Rolex decisions. What the heck, spend the extra $50 and go big, eh?
  6. There's nothing like a vintage Sub.
  7. And on the vintage Land Rover forum, people are applauded for stuffing new engines from other makers in, fitting disc brakes, axles from someone else, new wiring looms, even replacement chassis and body panels. That's the equivalent of a Yuki case, ETA movement, NDT dial and hands, and keeping the original crown.
  8. Thanks mate. I was helping my son shovel two dump truck loads of dirt yesterday so I missed the Express Delivery man... But the final parts are in town. Now I need to find a modder to do the install. My go-to guy has been radio silent for months.
  9. A small comparison of Minh Quy (before aging) vs Phong (with gentle aging) MQ Phong
  10. Cc33, I really like how that case and bezel are coming along, Looks like you've been wearing it a LOT. And that shot from the front... this the perfect example of a Big Crown. Spectacular!
  11. Thanks gents, you should see it in the Spring when the ice breaks up and the tide starts to move it out. Sitting on that same spot, there are blocks of sea ice the size of houses churning around banging into each other and hitting the rocks. THAT is impressive.
  12. This is kinda like unveiling the Mona Lisa and then saying "Oh, this old thing?" The magic is in the details. Well done.
  13. Holy schmolies ..... I see some new details here. Utterly perfect.
  14. See what you're missing? Get your butt up here for some fresh bear steaks! The tidal current was flowing by out there past the other rock about 15mph, and behind me up on the mountain were 6 Dall sheep. Too bad the app couldn't zoom in on them!
  15. Seems like a good day to break out some old iron...
  16. You are exactly right, I chose a vintage Rolex for my son "some day" and he isn't interested in it, he prefers a mod Seiko I gave him. I guess we maintain these for our own enjoyment, and that's as much as we can expect from them? I hope to get 5 more decades from mine and then... I won't care anymore.
  17. SWEEEEEEET! That's one gnarly reptile!
  18. These things are gorgeous!
  19. The 1665 just might be THE perfect watch.
  20. That all makes sense, but remember the older a movement gets the harder it will be to find parts. And even though it seems to be working fine, there is still damage occurring. Here is my 1030 movement when I had Ziggy service it. The watch ran "okay" but it had not been serviced in decades. Serious wear had happened and he prolonged its life but he could not make it work perfect. So now it runs better and it will last longer, but the damage has been done.
  21. I was out on Beluga Point today watching the tide go out, a marvelous bluebird day. Here's a panorama I did, enjoy! http://photosynth.net/view/2b295b99-64ae-439e-8f5c-7aad9f5cd4e9
  22. Probably not clicked on right or the spring is upside down or the insert is rubbing the crystal?
  23. Hmmmmmm, what dial are you looking for?
  24. Sure thing, she's Mary at watchinternational@gmail.com, last several I bought from her were spectacular. I have one on my Frosty Flake and one on my gen 1675.
