  1. Actually you're right. Mods hold the responsibility to lock down anything for any good reason, and this is trending the wrong direction. Everyone has had their say, mike has replied a few times, and people are getting their watches back. There's absolutely no reason to insult each other, and threats are way beyond my tolerance level. Someone give me a good reason not to lock this down. I'll be back in a few hours.
  2. Yeah I really struggle getting the stem back in too. I always push harder and harder on the button, and that's not the problem. Along the way I booger up the works under the button. Try pulling out the stem, rotating it slightly, pushing the "button" and putting the stem in. Do it several times... the last one I did, I had to try probably 10 - 15 times until it went in. I even pushed a little (cough) harder than I should have. I don't know HOW the watch pros do it right every time.
  3. Guilty, as charged. For years I wasn't sure the bezel was gen, until Ubi showed me another one with the same extra tall sides and shallow divots. My insert is pure, deep, rich dark black, and hasn't faded a smidgen, although the dial has gone tropical.
  4. Okay see the little hole/slot and its button? A screwdriver fits in there. Gently press the button with your screwdriver while you insert the stem. You might have to pull it back out, turn it slightly, and try again. It takes me many tries to get it, but eventually the stem goes all the way in. Then release the button (remove the screwdriver) and give it a try. I used to booger my keyless works EVERY TIME I did this, so be prepared for that. It's a bit of a pain to get it completely reinserted correctly, but keep at it. You'll get it.

I'd get the 2nd one opened up and checked out by a talented watchmaker. I don't like the look of the stained hour indices. There are a few other things about it that also make me hesitate.
  6. Wouldn't that make a Super Snow-Dweller?
  7. WE HAVE A LIFETIME MANHUG RECIPIENT!!! Nicely done PeteM, that's taking one for the team.
  8. Quick, where's PeteM? He's the ManHug designee this week.
  9. Yes, he's retired. I needed the Maestro's touch to complete my Big Gonzo build and he said he'd do it if I could get it to him by the end of a specific timeframe. I did, he did, and it's the last one. All Hail the King. We have been immensely fortunate to have him here these many years.
  10. Holy Mother of Pigeons. You've got to warn me before you post macro Big Crown content. My heart! My heart! This is the big one, Weezie!
  11. .......and now my true identity is revealed.
  12. There's another trick you can try. The Silix case has a funny divot where the tube screws in. Try filling that with JB Weld metal epoxy, then shaping it, and tapping the threads through it. Then when you screw the tube in, it holds it out from the case just a smidgen.
  13. Or you can break a chair over it, that works too...
  14. Wow, these things are usually a lot tougher than that!
  15. Indeed, how do you know? I dropped this one 2 stories onto concrete and it kept ticking.
  16. It looks like it sits a lot closer to the case. Did you shorten the tube too? That's a nice touch.
  17. Very nice! It looks like you did an Athaya crown? Those case bevels are darn good too.
