  1. That's a beauty! I passed on that case, just barely. I like what you've done with it, it came out very very nice.
  2. Have you ever tried Saddle Soap? It's a good cleaner and treatment. And by itself it might add just enough water resistance for city use.
  3. E malama pono brah! Save some sun for me, I'll be there in a month. Is Lani or Omni around?
  4. Here's a little blast from the past... TRC is still there, and if you check the member names you'll see a bunch that are familiar. We all migrated to the first RWG from there, then as that ship sank (or was torpedoed) we made this place. "RWG"? Yeah, this is It. http://www.replicacollector.com/members/index.php
  5. Heresy! Sacrilege! Oh man, put me out of my misery and PLAY that thing!!
  6. I agree Philly, in fact my local Rolex AD swapped dials for me, replacing my rare "radial" GMT dial for a lightly damaged gilt tropical. He'd only do it because both are period correct, and my radial was more rare. Did I gain or lose value? We decided it was a wash.
  7. As well it should. And every watch bought from him, even then resold, is a potential lawsuit. This is going to get ugly. But sunlight is the best disinfectant.
  8. Yes but then the RSC records what was improved. It's done honestly. And they will not "upgrade" a watch, like making a white 1680 into a red. My 1680 was literally beat to hell and $1,000 later the NY RSC made it look new again. With documentation for the "upgraded" (new) bezel, insert, crown, tube, crystal and band. Any subsequent buyer will know that work was done. Laser welding a case to improve it, then passing it as an "untouched original" is fraud. It's beneath contempt.
  9. Any level of lying or hypocrisy is distasteful to me. But when you see it institutionalised like this it's just revolting. Absolutely disgusting. They have completely forfeited any moral right to look down their nose at Rep enthusiasts. At least we and homage makers are honest about our hobby. Dishonesty followed by threats of lawsuit when doubts are voiced is beneath contempt. There are a few I know over there, and it warms my heart to see them airing the dirty laundry. They'd be welcome over here as honored guests.
  10. Another bit of advice, look for the content posted by member "onelow64", specifically his first post here. It's not for no reason he's known as Noob Master. Emulate the Noob Master and all will go well with you.
  11. This is a great place we call home. Gents, I'm proud of you and how this all worked out.
  12. The keychain is a "never forget us" gift from a group of mates in another life. My other keychain carries a 3" brass articulated anchor from the same bunch.
  13. Hmmmmmmmm, that crystal looks familiar. Do my eyes deceive me?
  14. Oh man, that stinks. I'm sorry to hear that! Be sure to post some photos before you sell it.
  15. That's a very interesting site, cc33. Check out the MkII DRSD. It has serious problems, yet there it is.
  16. Many, many years ago I posted up pics of a "finally got it" watch. Demsey came in late and posted something I'll never forget. It was along the lines of... You know the Indiana Jones movie where they haul out the Ark of the Covenant and everyone gathers around while they pry it open? Then everyone gazes at the spectacle ... the wonder of what lies before them ... as their faces melt off? Yeah, that's what I'm feeling right now.
  17. Legend, it's a reference to the finest speech ever given, from Henry V by Shakespeare. "This story shall the good man teach his son; And Crispin Crispian shall ne’er go by, From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remembered- We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition; And gentlemen in England now-a-bed Shall think themselves accurs’d they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day."
  18. Ah Mike, no pinning is necessary. From this day forward noobs young and old will look back and shake their heads, holding their manhoods cheap, regretting they were not here to experience this hallowed event. It will be whispered in the halls of RWG Yet To Come, and Mods will merely need to mention "The Day of the Noob Master" and all heads will nod with sagacity. Mark my words.
  19. Gentlemen, a Noob Master walks among us. Nicely done!

You could let him pay the insured postage every time you send it back, perhaps he'll eventually start to pay attention?
