  1. Precisely. How about an aftermarket bracelet? Is it still a gen? What if it's a NATO strap? I don't recall Rolex releasing any of those.
  2. I think they're nuts over wherever you saw that. I have a 6536 from the late 50s and I installed a gen tropic crystal. According to those guys, it's not a real Rolex anymore? So I took it in to my A.D. and asked them to check a winding weirdness, and the watchmaker (a buddy of mine) was all excited to pop it open and have a look. He disappeared in back, then came back 10 minutes later. He had to call the people back at HQ and those guys said I had to sign a disclaimer before he could open it, in case the dial flaked. Sooooooo if they have a real liability, to the point I have to sign a disclaimer, then I'd say in their A.D. opinion it's still a "real" Rolex.
  3. No harm, no foul. I didn't mean to impugn you with what I said. IMHO the Phong parts sources are murky enough that it makes my spider sense tingle when a seller says "100% gen" knowing the parts are from Phong. I'm glad he did acknowledge their source, but if a newb came in here with a wad of windfall cash and saw what seemed to be a 100% gen Daytona for under 10 grand, and bought it, it would be a shame to watch the crash/burn. Is it our responsibility to prevent that happening? Technically no. But if we can do it, let's do it.
  4. To RWG: Chiller asked us to delete his account. Instead I'm going to change the logon credentials and leave this here for awhile. Some very valid points were made, and some very solid questions were asked and answered. This also explained why we vet people here before allowing high value sales. It's a long (and expensive) way from "100% gen except for hands" to "Phong case and reworked movement." Good work gents, watch each others' backs.
  5. I wonder if we'll see an auction later this month for a bunch of "Milgauss 6541 parts" and no movement? Those movements are scarce, but not THAT kind of scarce. I bet the buyer is going to open the box and find this inside (photo borrowed from Ken)
  6. Chiller, the rules exist to protect the many members here. This is not a democracy. You will be approved for high value sales if and when the Admin team has a better idea of who you are. As of now, you are a stranger. Your last comments only reinforce the reasons we did not already approve your high value sales. I recommend you read the rules.
  7. Reported this again, I hope they pull the auction!
  8. The case isn't even close to the right shape for a Milgauss... and it's bid up over $4,000 already! Holy smokes! Someone must reeeeeeally want that movement and the (guessing) Phong bezel.
  9. More? You got it. Jim Croce couldn't keep Time in a Bottle. Ziggy is a sommelier. Time waits for no one. Except The Zigmeister. Stephen Hawking wrote The Zigmeister's resume'. He titled it A Brief History of Time.
  10. More obscure The Zigmeister facts: The Zigmeister can divide by zero. The Zigmeister has counted to infinity. Twice. The Zigmeister can open a screwdown caseback with a stare. The Zigmeister can weld two short crown stems into one by rubbing them together. The only thing that beats The Zigmeister is a balance. Because The Zigmeister allows it. There is no such thing as a Superdome, it's in fact a Ziggydome.
  11. "unfortunately"?? Not from where I'm sitting, no more customs headaches getting pieces to you for repair! Huzzah!
  12. Ziggy is not unlike the Chuck Norris of watchmakers. It's not that he "repairs" a watch, the watch just wants to be a better man when it's around him. He doesn't "regulate" a movement, the movement decides it wants to run smoother. You don't contact Ziggy. Ziggy contacts you.
  13. The pain... the agony... the ideas for future tests! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tudor-submariner-7924-Big-Crown-Original-French-Navy-relic-/290850049069
  14. Ahhhhhhhhhhh, there is harmony in the universe. Life is good.
  15. Donerix did this to fit a 6542 dial into a Silix case and make it less wokky. I believe it took sandpaper and several hours, with excellent results.
  16. Congratulations! I'm wearing mine today in honor of yours. All hail the HE bump!
  17. Automatico, thanks for this detailed reply. It's exactly what I was looking for.
  18. When I first spotted it, the price was $168. At that level it's worth throwing some $$ at it. Now? Not so much.
  19. The capper is the 702 crown and tube. All hail the 702!
  20. Mid case and back. HE valve looks gen!
  21. In one photo the butterfly rotor looks like it's missing a hunk. I think it's a reflection or something.
  22. Nice! What's the price? I've been using Natalie's and hers are plated brass alloy too
