  1. I may well qualify as the most insane, but I've only got 11 and 2/3 watches.
  2. I've found that it's effective to meet a prospective date in the driveway where I just "happen" to be sharpening my double bit axe. He can't walk past you, he won't change any subject you want to bring up, and almost every word out of his mouth will be "yes sir". Count on it.
  3. Good advice. I've also found some old endlinks are worn very thin at the tubes, and there's just no structural integrity there. I've toyed with the idea of some silver solder across the gap once it's bent to the right diameter. Never tried it though.........
  4. That's the one! At least, it's a kinder, gentler version of the one I hand out........
  5. Wait till you see the Application to Date my Daughter.
  6. My daughter hates this list. Daddy
  7. You want to see something even more bizarre than the fat font? The insert and bezel on the left SD are gen ... the ones on the right are aftermarket.
  8. Magnificent!!! What a collection. All my favorites are from the late 50s, 60s, and early 70s. I like to use the term "sweet spot" to describe a time when everything is just.... "right". Everything is smooth and good things are happening. It seems like a real horological sweet spot was happening in that time. 1958, 1971, 1964, 1968, 1968, 1966 ... those are the magic numbers for me.
  9. Dang! Dems had the perfect use for the IATT project! How come I didn't think of that?! ps: I got the link from my son...
  10. The Yukon river got an ice dam and the flooding got pretty dramatic.
  11. I was finally able to pry the Doxa Sharkhunter off my wrist, and then this one called my name.
  12. Whoa, check this one out. It's got the Beads of Rice bracelet, and original screwdown crown. This thing ROCKS. Gaahhhhhhhhhh!! I DO NOT NEED ANOTHER DIVE WATCH. I DO NOT NEED ANOTHER DIVE WATCH. I DO NOT NEED ANOTHER DIVE WATCH. I DO NOT NEED ANOTHER DIVE WATCH. I DO NOT NEED ANOTHER DIVE WATCH. I DO NOT NEED ANOTHER DIVE WATCH. I DO NOT NEED ANOTHER DIVE WATCH. I DO NOT NEED ANOTHER DIVE WATCH!!! Jenny/Festina Caribbean
  13. Swimming, diving, hot tub, shower, all is good. No worries.
  14. I'm in for a $100 offer... who can top that?!
  15. All hail the dome!
  16. More domes anyone???
  17. Man, where do you start? I could put up hundreds of pictures of Alaska, it's so big. Instead here are the places I call "home". Here's a glacier after an earthquake ripped it in half. Those chunks are the size of houses.
  18. I can't seem to pry this beauty off my wrist.
  19. Ahhhhhhhhh, nice. There is nothing like the smooth feel of a gen crown.
  20. Yeah R, that's the phrase I thought would "grab" you. It's what makes the whole poem for me. Okay, now that we agree it's good to strive for what seems "impossible" ...read this: Somebody said that it couldn't be done, But he with a chuckle replied That "maybe it couldn't," but he would be one Who wouldn't say so till he'd tried. So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin On his face. If he worried he hid it. He started to sing as he tackled the thing That "couldn't be done," and he did it. Somebody scoffed: "Oh, you'll never do that; At least no one ever has done it"; But he took off his coat and he took off his hat, And the first thing we knew he'd begun it. With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin, Without any doubting or quiddit, He started to sing as he tackled the thing That "couldn't be done," and he did it. There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done, There are thousands to prophesy failure; There are thousands to point out to you, one by one, The dangers that wait to assail you. But just buckle in with a bit of a grin, Just take off your coat and go to it; Just start to sing as you tackle the thing That "cannot be done," and you'll do it. The top of Wolverine Mountain. Six Eagle Scouts in this picture. ANYTHING can be done when you try.
  21. The Call of the Wild - Robert Service Have you gazed on naked grandeur where there's nothing else to gaze on, Set pieces and drop-curtain scenes galore, Big mountains heaved to heaven, which the blinding sunsets blazon, Black canyons where the rapids rip and roar? Have you swept the visioned valley with the green stream streaking through it, Searched the Vastness for a something you have lost? Have you strung your soul to silence? Then for God's sake go and do it; Hear the challenge, learn the lesson, pay the cost. Have you wandered in the wilderness, the sagebrush desolation, The bunch-grass levels where the cattle graze? Have you whistled bits of rag-time at the end of all creation, And learned to know the desert's little ways? Have you camped upon the foothills, have you galloped o'er the ranges, Have you roamed the arid sun-lands through and through? Have you chummed up with the mesa? Do you know its moods and changes? Then listen to the Wild -- it's calling you. Have you known the Great White Silence, not a snow-gemmed twig aquiver? (Eternal truths that shame our soothing lies). Have you broken trail on snowshoes? mushed your huskies up the river, Dared the unknown, led the way, and clutched the prize? Have you marked the map's void spaces, mingled with the mongrel races, Felt the savage strength of brute in every thew? And though grim as hell the worst is, can you round it off with curses? Then hearken to the Wild -- it's wanting you. Have you suffered, starved and triumphed, groveled down, yet grasped at glory, Grown bigger in the bigness of the whole? "Done things" just for the doing, letting babblers tell the story, Seeing through the nice veneer the naked soul? Have you seen God in His splendors, heard the text that nature renders? (You'll never hear it in the family pew). The simple things, the true things, the silent men who do things -- Then listen to the Wild -- it's calling you. They have cradled you in custom, they have primed you with their preaching, They have soaked you in convention through and through; They have put you in a showcase; you're a credit to their teaching -- But can't you hear the Wild? -- it's calling you. Let us probe the silent places, let us seek what luck betide us; Let us journey to a lonely land I know. There's a whisper on the night-wind, there's a star agleam to guide us, And the Wild is calling, calling ... let us go.
  22. Be sure to let me know when you start taking reservations for your guest list!
  23. Only slightly different than my own dream... Don Sheldon's cabin overlooking the Ruth Amphitheatre up on the big mountain. I could spend the rest of my life right there.
