  1. I know you guys all enjoy exercise as much as I do. Here's a program that I came across that has really helped. The older we get, the more important it is to incorporate exercise into our daily routine. This is necessary to maintain cardiovascular health and maintain muscle mass. Just ask By-Tor or Lani. If you're over 55, you might want to take it easy at first, then do more repetitions as you become more proficient & build stamina. Warning: It may be too strenuous for some, and remember to consult your doctor before starting any new exercise program! SCROLL DOWN ... NOW SCROLL UP ... That's enough for the 1st day. Great job.
  2. Normal? What is normal? Suppose that X is a topological space. X is a normal space if and only if, given any disjoint closed sets {E and F}, there are neighborhoods {U of E} and {V of F} that are also disjoint. With more spectacular verbage, this condition says that E and F can be separated by neighborhoods. The closed sets E and F are separated by their respective neighborhoods U and V. X is a T4 space, if it is both normal and Hausdorff. X is a completely normal space or a hereditarily normal space if every subspace of X is normal. It turns out that X is completely normal if and only if every two separated sets can be separated by neighborhoods. X is a T5 space, or completely T4 space, if it is both completely normal and Hausdorff, or equivalently, if every subspace of X is T4. X is a perfectly normal space if every two disjoint closed sets can be precisely separated by a function. That is, given disjoint closed sets E and F, there is a continuous function f from X to the real line R such the preimages of {0} and {1} under f are E and F respectively. The real line can be replaced with the unit interval [0,1] in this definition; the result is the same. It turns out that X is perfectly normal if and only if X is normal and every closed set is a Gδ set. Equivalently, X is perfectly normal if and only if every closed set is a zero set. Every perfectly normal space is automatically completely normal. X is a T6 space, or perfectly T4 space if it is both perfectly normal and Hausdorff. Note that some mathematical literature uses different definitions for the terms "normal" and "T4", and the terms containing those words. The definitions here are the ones usually used today. However, some authors switch the meanings of the two terms in a given pair, or use both terms synonymously for only one condition, and one should take care to find out which definitions the author is using when reading mathematical literature. But "T5" always means the same as "completely T4", whatever that may be. Terms like normal regular space and normal Hausdorff space also turn up in the literature; these simply mean that the space both is normal and satisfies the other condition mentioned. In particular, a normal Hausdorff space is the same thing as a T4 space. These phrases are useful, since they are less ambiguous given the historical confusion of the terms' meanings. Fully normal spaces and fully T4 spaces are related to paracompactness. A locally normal space is a topological space where every point has an open neighborhood that is normal. Every normal space is locally normal, but the converse is not true. A classical example of a completely regular locally normal space that is not normal is the Niemitzki plane.
  3. Races? Oh? What's up?!!! Thanks for the search... I've exhausted all possibilities here. Any Pendletons I find are so nasty you wouldn't want to try it on. I think that brown/beige shadow plaid is perfect, if only it's "clear green" in a couple shades of lighter/darker. Just like the browns, but green.
  4. Take it a step "older" ... imagine the demand for a good no-crown-guards Sub or GMT
  5. *Excellent* response Alligoat. Well said.
  6. WOW! How'd you find that so quickly? The first one looks great... it's a traditional plaid he's after. I sent him the picture, let's see what he says. Dems, that would be great! Traditional plaid, grey/green "shadow" design, muted plaids. Check this one out: http://www.rokit.co.uk/product.php?product_id=MC150576 Something like that, in (using his verbage) clear green and grey. You guys are great! I'll update with his response about if this one from rokit.uk is what he's looking for.
  7. Thanks Ken, and you're right, the shadow plaid grey/green are out of production. More ideas?
  8. My dad's birthday is soon, and I've been looking for years to find him a green and grey Pendleton shadow plaid wool shirt. Size XL. I've been told that the place to look is Florida, because people move there and then realize they can't wear the wool anymore. So Goodwill and Salvation Army is "loaded with the stuff". Does anyone have any leads for me? Thanks in advance!
  9. I can point you toward some good ones in the Seattle area too, if you're thereabouts.
  10. Why is there no entry in Wikipedia for "Jetmid"?
  11. Okay, I have the answer. You saw it here first. Give every working man, woman and child in America a tax holiday for... some period of time. You get to keep EVERY dollar you earn. The result would be spending, investment and confidence like there's no tomorrow.
  12. If that's too complex for the empty suits in WashDC to comprehend, perhaps this will illuminate the sheer level of insanity of their "stimulus plan" ....... If the President wants to spend $1Trillion to create 3.5 million jobs it will cost $286,000 PER JOB to do so. Is that simple enough for people to understand? This is sheer insanity.
  13. Roger that... I sent the 6536 to Ziggy by registered mail and it arrived late, but it arrived. I feel your pain though... it will NOT be fun putting the 1665 in a box and mailing it, registered or not. That almost qualifies for a plane ticket. Hey. You're a pilot.
  14. @Dems, you might give Ziggy a long hard look for this. Seriously. My triple date pre-Breitling Gigandet was dropped and quit working right (I can at least blame this on someone else). It has a movement very similar to yours, v72c. Off it went to Ziggy and he immediately spotted its many problems, and was able to find a replacement to the broken main wheel and shaft through his network of parts people. Easy squeasy, it's back on my wrist now... perfect again. My 6536 was in DIRE need of a cleaning and service, so off it went to Ziggy. He went way, way above and beyond for me, and it's running like a champ now. My 1680 is there as we speak... it's the grungiest watch you've ever SEEN and I'm sure it will come back smelling like kittens and Jennifer's perfume. When it comes time for the DRSD to get serviced, I'll have Ziggy do it, if he's agreeable. He's that good. Here's a closeup of his work with a lume brush. This dial was NASTY when I sent it, with green goo glued to the dots. Now look at how smooth the indices are. The 9:00 stick was misshapen from the factory and he matched its bad outline exactly.
  15. Hmmmmmmmm! I had an OM years ago with the most gorgeous, lurid high domed Hardlex crystal... it got crushed (go figure) and the crystal delaminated. The bezel is dished on these things, and the crystal on that watch was domed up above the edge of the bezel. Since then I've replaced the crystal twice (go figure) with genuine parts, and neither of the replacements are as domed. Also, the new crystals are "lens" shaped in cross section, whereas the old ones were flat on the back. I'd sure like to find one of the oooooooooooooold ones. Does this description sound like what you've got there?

    My State burns

I saw photos today and it suddenly became real to me. Please be careful, Ken and all our friends Down Under. My prayers are with you.
  17. Snow angel? That's where I landed when I jumped out of the helicopter! Here's the last time she blew in 1990
  18. YEAH BABY!!!!! Here's what happened to Mt. Spurr when it blew. It used to be all pointy on top.
  19. Mt. Redoubt has been rumbling like crazy the last couple weeks and an eruption is imminent. I can see it out my window and the Alaska Volcano Observatory is updating activity reports every few minutes. Check it out.... http://volcanoes.usgs.gov/avo/webicorders/RSO24hr_heli.png
  20. Okay Mister Smartypants, then... Q: What is red and white and red and white and red and white?
  21. #1 is the room full of lions.... they're all dead if they haven't eaten in 3 years.
  22. #2 is all about photography!
  23. Here she is... a 1942 Martin D45 for a mere $135,000 Although this one will do as well, a 1941 D28 for only $75,000. A bargain!!
  24. Too bad this economic downturn is not also driving down the prices of guitars! The one I've been lusting after is still a bit overpriced for my tastes. ........... a mere $135,000
