  1. Here's a favorite from up in the arctic
  2. JTB is a force of nature. JTB walks on water. JTB can divide by zero. JTB can eat just one Lays potato chip. JTB is not JF. But this just well may be JF...
  3. Jetmid is my homeboy!
  4. The evidence consisted of a very cheap gold "Patek" found sitting in amongst a bundle of wiring in the router panel. Coincidence? I think not!! JETMID LIVES!!!
  5. Don't tell anyone but I think it was Jetmid.
  6. No worries, minor hiccup.
  7. Wow that's a nice gilt dial!!
  8. This is a really easy swap, heck I even did it without smashing my watch! When I reassembled it, I put a tiny wipe of grease around the inside and outside perimeters of the crystal where it seats against the case, then pressed the crystal retaining ring back down firmly. The ring went back on much easier than it came off, and I like to think the grease offers a bit more water resistance than would otherwise be there. And lo these 3 hockey seasons later, and dozens of practice sessions, the crystal hasn't knocked loose or sprung a leak. (@Freddy, I know... I know... I need to do it with the gen. It was eaaaaasy to tear the MBW apart, I tread a bit more carefully with chocolate dials.)
  9. The 1680 does not have a unidirectional bezel. It's held in place by friction and bidirectional.
  10. Well, you do have to admit their wristwatch is pretty nice
  11. Welcome! This place is all about watch information... lots of pictures and reviews will keep you occupied reading for days on end. This place will help you refine what you really like about specific models, and will reveal many new pieces that you might not have otherwise considered. Be sure to post some pics of your collection too!
  12. Welcome back JTB!!! It's great to have you back on board. You'll find we saved some Guinness for you, but you need to move fast else it'll get too warm (and Ken found the key to the liquor cabinet!)
  13. There's a very well written tutorial here somewhere that describes doing this... use a razor blade and tap it in beneath the crystal retaining ring, then work your way around, prying gently, and you'll see it begin to move up from the case. Keep going until you can slide it and the crystal off.
  14. Oh yeah, definitely. That was a standard Sub style bezel and it was nowhere near accurate. I wound up giving that one away.
  15. Here are some more that show details... Here's one I took years ago when I was thinking about modding a Silix Triple Red into a Milgauss
  16. Ah, the old Rya avatar. It brings back a lot of vintage thoughts. I know exactly what you mean about looking at your wrist and thinking "there is no way I should be wearing this piece." I've had the same poignant sense of denial twice, and in my case, the original purchase prices were appallingly low.
  17. Bezel overhang? Not way up here in the arctic...
  18. Lord have mercy... a horological seismic event. The open-ended rivets on the bracelet just mean it's the Brit version of the piece... the USA version had closed "pin" heads, if I remember correctly. As for the endlinks fitting poorly, your photo shows endlinks that fit exactly like those on my 1680. Completely thrashed and worn out, flattened looking like that. It's possible to get new 19mm end pieces, but I bet you'll like the look of the originals better. I have spanking new endlinks on my 6536 and they fit the case perfectly, but it looks TOO nice... y'know? It should look like it really is 50 years old. Congratulations, my friend. Coming from your father like that makes this piece absolutely irreplaceable. Wear it well.
  19. Gratulerer med dagen! To the backbone of the modding core of RWG, we salute you! To the one that makes it all happen on an orderly manner, we couldn't do it or have so much enjoyment without you. Congratulations on the day! -B
  20. Wow, another winner!!!
  21. Or at least put on a jacket!
  22. -80F is -62C
  23. Here's a picture from the Tetlin National Wildlife Refuge office, taken 4AM yesterday.
  24. Here's a frame grab from the video
