  1. I can hear Homer saying that in my head LOL I actually colored the stitching on the rep strap that came with the watch yellow, but i never use that strap anymore. I've thought of doing it on this strap but I'm worried that once I do it that I will want it white again. Welcome to the Panerai obsession. The solution is to buy many many straps. Because one is never enough.
  2. I took another shot for you also, you need a 24mm strap to fit the lugs.
  3. This isn't the greatest picture of the strap, but I think this is what you're looking for Toscana, got it from tcstraps http://www.timeconnection.biz/
  4. I'm not a huge Rolex fan, but I decided to stop in our local Rolex AD while out and about old town today with the wife. Looked at a Sea Dweller and was quite impressed with it. First thing i noticed was how much more solid it felt than my LV Sub from Paul. The salesmen was nice enough, but didn't seem overly eager to get a sale and I'm pretty sure he didn't even notice the 177 on my wrist - not that i cared really but I always hope to at least have a nice watch conversation when I go into an AD. Oh well. All in all, a very nice piece but I'm still not sure that I need to ever lay out the cash for a gen Rolex.
  5. For the die-hards, i've actually heard that you should not wear a watch at all in evening dress, as you should be enjoying the festivities and not be concerned with the passing of time. I believe that's going too far myself - but I do think that bracelets and evening wear should not be mixed. Oh- have any pictures of that Chopard?
  6. I haven't found anyone yet. I send my stuff to The Zigmeister.
  7. Price was around 2.91 this morning for reg, I think the prem was around 3.30
  8. ^ that's the impression i was getting, but I couldn't find any solid info on them. A friend linked me the auction because he liked the watch - now I think i'll steer him clear.
  9. Was looking at this pilot's watch on an Ebay auction for $179US, i asked the seller what movement was in it and all i got back was '21 jewel automatic" Anyone know anything about this company? http://www.uhrbox.de/shop/UHR-KRAFT/AIRFOR...Datum::626.html
  10. I say someone in the Mass area goes to his house and has a 'chat' with him
  11. Since i put the SC on my 177, it gets noticed all the time - I actually haven't worn many other watches since i got this strap lol.
  12. vbarrett, what are you in the market for particularly? A roadster? A PROPER roadster? Or just a pretty convertible?
  13. Cool cars, but you can do a lot better for the money
  14. It's actually a Maratac Nato strap, i got it here http://www.broadarrow.net/maratac.htm
  15. Nope. I like the watch but not that much. I'd rather put that money towards my next gen purchase.
  16. Wow, talk about coincidence. I'm not sure what our timeframe is right now, just kind of throwing the idea around but i'll shoot you a PM if we decide to do it sooner rather than later. Yeah, i'd like to get up there for a car event, not sure if I'm gonna tow my car up there for it though and it's not quite street legal (or comfy for long trips) so I couldn't drive it up.
  17. yeah, I definately will be calling him when i'm ready for my next gen purchase, i don't care that he's in RI and I'm in VA. I also hope to get up there sometime for some of the car events he mentioned doing. yeah, this was the 2nd time we'd been there and we love the place. Funny you mentioned renting a house there int he summer, we're actually thinking of looking into buying a house up there and renting it out most of the year and using it as a vacation house.
  18. lol, i have a pic in my profile too if anyone were to look - if someone were going to steal my identy via a pic they would have done it by now
  19. I'll bite, only because I actually have a new picture of myself to post, taken over the weekend - wearing DSN 177 on SC strap
  20. Wife and I headed to Newport RI for the weekend to celebrate our 10th anniversary, while we were there we came across Grenon's where I met the owner who is a die-hard watch guy. he has some jewelry but the store probably 75% watches. We chatted for about 45 minutes about watches and cars and he showed me a some pretty cool stuff, one being an Azimuth Spaceship watch Built on a 6497 Unitas watching it move was quite interesting. Not something I'd wear but still very cool, and only about $4500. He had some U-Boats in stock, had to try one on - they are MASSIVE. He told me that the 55mm watches FLY off the shelves, and to all shapes and sizes of buyer. Strange. He didn't carry any Rolex at all, but said he could get it - which I had no problem with at all not being a huge Rolex fan. Anyway, if any of you are in the New England area and looking for your next genuine or just want to stop in and have a look around, I highly recommend the place, the guy had top notch service, knew his watches, and couldn't have cared less that I didn't buy anything - he seemed genuinely happy to just sit and talk watches with me. www.grenons.com
  21. They'll give anyone a LE watch these days.
  22. UAC can be turned off, AV isn't bundled with Vista because of court rulings, and I've yet to see Vista crash and I've been using it since beta. I don't understand why people hate it so much, other than it's always cool to hate on MS.
