Never. The whole point is that it has basically been perfect for two hundred years and the bar it set at improving craftmanship and design as opposed to making something which is technically superior. The machine that is the mechanical timepiece is the marvel and to me, and as such nothing that is digital - watch or otherwise could ever peak my interest.

I'm gonna hang with SD this morning and sport the AT in Ti to go with his Slevin... Then later I have to go get measured for a shirt for my wedding and look for some cool cufflinks. That said, I'll wear the DJ which is what I'll most likely be wearing the day of the wedding. Then I can try and match the cufflinks to it...

Two G5's actually. But he did use the car to get from one hangar to the other...

I used to like to get boxes for photo props when I bought a lot of reps. The papers were always marginal - except Rolex booklets which provided a nice backdrop for pics. Most gen papers are kind of boring too, with one exception. The UN papers come in this cool leather portfolio with the chronometer test results on this cool parchment like security paper. There is an amamzing COSC logo as well. Anyway, not to get OT but I can see why someone would like papers for a watch if they are cool to make for better pics. As for "fooling" one self I have no idea what that is all about but to each his own. Hey, I know most have seen the watch before but check out these papers and how they just "make" the photos...

I'm sitting on my hands Toad. I swear... Somebody tell TT I'm being good lately too. I'm going out West soon and I don't want him to cancel our appointment for a cocktail (not that anything could stand in the way of TT and the bar anyway, but still..)

Hahaha. What silk pajamas? Have no idea what you are talking about...

Congrats Sam - always nice to hear what you have to say. Not so long ago I crossed my 1K and I like to say I would be easily at Powermax already if I didn't say so much in each post. It seems like Pugs couldn't be over 12K if he wasn't short and sweet (well usually...). You guys better watch out if I decide to start posting one liners. Anyway, congrats man and here's to another thousand and many more. Nice having you around.

Yeah, I bought the car off him when the jet-biz hit the skids...

Could be wrong about that number as I got it on the fly with some other prices, but I'm pretty sure that is it. Also, I think I remember the gen rubber with the Ti elements is like $1500 retail. Of course they are really nice and more like a bracelet than a strap but that is pretty steep huh? And yes, 22MM for the gen as well so it should fit.
-
No, I'm not going to weigh in here. Jake is undoubtedly watching...

The gen bracelet is going to be REALLY hard to find and pretty expensive if you get it new. I have a second UN which I've not yet photographed for here - a Dual Time 42MM GMT piece. I bought it new on a croc and thought for versatility I would source a bracelet as well. BTW, UN bracelets are just out of this world. The most luxurious ever. Nicer even than super high end brand stuff. Anyway, the gen bracelet is around $1200 in steel I believe at retail...

Took the AT for a spin up to the store for a couple of sandwiches for me and the future Mrs. G...

Yeah, I guess I am pretty much most of the time - except when I get the occasional hankerin' for winding up the RobbieG haters like tops in the Loonie Bin.

Yes, each and every one of them. Of course you don't see the dozens from each shoot that suck and only the one or two from each watch that don't - plus all the effort clone stamping dust and imperfections out in Photoshop - but that said, I'm pretty happy with the way most of them turned out that ended up in the collection thread after all. It is very time consuming so it is a but of a labor of love I suppose. Glad you like them. And yes, all my watches at the moment are genuine - although there are fine base reps for most of them that with a few inexpensive mods can be really close to genuine quality with a very little effort as you probably know. Me? I'm just too lazy, so if I fall in love with a rep I'll end up getting the gen - but falling in love with the rep is usually the funnest part.

Amazing TJ. Just saw this. I love the look of the harder edges. Much improved from the original. You are giving me ideas for mine now. Hmmmmm...

Yeah, the PM's are one thing and we all do that more often I'm sure with our forum friends but isn't it especially cool when you turn the corner and start talking with audio and/or in person. It is fun to be able to put the voice with it and here someone express themselves via another medium as a change. And thanks Shawn. I really do get a sense that my friends here are truly concerned for my well being and it means a lot to me. To that end, I'm proud to say that if there is ever anything any of the crew here needed or I could help them in any way, I hope they would never hesitate to ask.

Again today I had the pleasure of making the beginnings of another personal friendship with a long time "old school" member as Lani would call us. This time it was Lazarini who reached out to me from Eastern Europe (well kind of...) via Skype. I had some time to kill and got on a call with him and we talked for maybe an hour an a half about life, business, and you guessed it - watches, watches, and more watches. Isn't it cool the common bond we share and thanks to modern technology it is literally easy to just connect with virtually anyone from any walk of life. I'll tell you, with my health scare of late I am just more and more thankful for the little gifts. Between the heart felt responses from all of you on the board when I returned, another good talk with Lani that week as always, and now today turning another long time forum friend into the beginnings of another more personal friendship, I must say I continue to grow to appreciate RWG even more as time goes by. Such a great group of people we have here. So thanks to Laz for a great conversation and thanks to all of you for making this place what it is. And I would also like to offer that my Skype is always open and I'm pretty much always near the machine day and night so ring me up if the mood strikes you. I'm sure like all the rest so far it will be my pleasure to make your aquaintance. Especially the old schoolers who I feel like I know personally already. And I also recommend to all of you doing so with other forum friends as well. I think you will be amazed as I have at how cool it is to put a voice with the handle. Cheers, R

Thanks to Toad and the Col for the compliments as well. Much appreciated. I try my best to find good natural light setups and make the watches look as good as I can. Good subjects - good setups - good photos sometimes (if mother nature cooperates)

Thanks a bunch for the compliments man. Much appreciated. No smoke and mirrors. All are from AD's, but most started as reps I used to love - loved so much only the gen would do after all. Cheers.

I like IWC too, but wish they would bump up their movement finishing a bit. They kind of fall down against the others in that respect and I think they would get more respect with the elite if they did. GO is really great as a company - I had a Panomatic Reserve for a bit but I never wore it. It was also steel and to me a high end smaller strapped dress watch feels too flimsy and cheap if not gold or PT. Their finishing is amazing toom alhough Lange has that handmade kind of feel which is hard to describe and harder to justify the price differential though. I too like big dates and for now I get that with my UN Dual Time Big Date. Just something about that. I feel the way you do about UN obviously but what I didn't mention waqs how I like that they stay out of certain genres almost entirely. They are really into high complications and marine watches both of which they have arguable the most impressive achievemenets and heritage in the industry bar none, but they stick with what they know. I love that UN doesn't make a watch to compete with a Patek Calatrava or a pilot style watch or whatever. They stay true to heritgae and stick with what they know. IWC does too - although I wish they tied in the pocket watch heritage to the wrist a little more like they started with the FA Jones. I would like to see them expand on that idea...
-
From his post maybe they are the same, one lives on rubber and one on a bracelet? Cool how everyone compartmentallizes differently huh? Mine is more about dial colors, finishes and then further grouped by complication / design and Delta is more about final use.

I think the OP is probably more correct by calling it blue tint. I never really found any AR properties from that stuff either. Those PAM's especially. Even the UPO which claims to have single AR is a stretch if you ask me - I just don't see it (or I do see it - the crystal that is...), but at least that watch doesn't have that really horrid blue that those PAM's do. I'm not a PAM guy so I don't know which have and don't have AR - I do know a lot of the older ones don't but the newer do and it is a lighter single AR. I do know it isn't that color though. So take it off as instructed then have the Chief do a single for you on the inside if it turns out to be accurate for the model you have. Then it will look right. Nice and rich. Chief da man.

It dipped under 50F here in Florida last night and I have the heat on full blast...

I was never really a BP guy but I just checked out the Fifty. Jeez, what a retail price on those - $12,800 for a strapped dive watch. Anybody handle the gen? Is it really made great or somehow otherwise noticeably an expensive piece. Just wondering given it is so much more. But then I suppose the Breguet Marine line is right there as is the AP and VC counterparts so no surprise then. This is why I have always loved UN stuff BTW - it has that "high end feel" without the price - assuming the Fifty is in that camp. But there is a difference. If you hold a Rolex or whatever and then hold a VC Overseas or whatever you really notice a big difference in feel and finish. Just wondering if anyone here can relate anything on that to the Fifty.
