  1. Thanks. And the amazing thing is they are not even over saturated in post production. Sedona is naturally oversaturated. LOL. Hard to believe that colors that bold really do exist in nature...
  2. Being the owner of the MMD watch in the pic I will only say this: I went on a tirade last year and bought WAY more gens than I ever should have. But in doing so I got the chance to evaluate many brands and some of their flagship and or trademark type pieces including IWC's Big Pilot, AP's Millennary, Jaquet Droz's Les Duex Fuseaux, Glashutte PanoReserve, and many more... That said, I will say that at ANY price, the UN MMD simply BLOWS away every one of them in terms of overall fit, finish, and luxurious build quality. The bracelet is simply divine just to run your fingers across, let alone wear. Everything about it, right down to the hardwood box with the mirrored piano finish and the 4-color watermarked parchment the COSC certification is printed on just oozes quality. I originally bought the watch as a "more interesting designed" replacement for a gen YM in the "Tastefully Blingy/mixed brushed-polished link/non-black dialed sports watch category". I got way more than I bargained for. Makes the YM seem like a cheap childs toy - and that is a nice watch. I say all this because if the rep (which has been confirmed to be coming) is even half of what the gen is, it might be the nicest quality rep ever made. It will be a tall order though as what really makes the MMD special can't be seen in any picture. It has to be touched... PS: We have a Florida GTG coming up and I will have a chance to handle the Diver Chrono rep for the first time there and compare the feel to the MMD. I have handled the gen chrono (had one for a day actually) and it is comparable (although no bracelet) in quality. The others at the GTG will have a chance to handle the gen MMD as well and compare what their perception of feel is as well so it should be interesting...
  3. Speaking of abstract, here are some abstract mountaineering orientations and narrow crops of some Sedona sunsets I did some time ago...
  4. VERY cool abstract stuff there ifly. Bravo...
  5. Nothing fishy. It is true. NOBODY does anything during the New Year - unless a person or business is truly exceptional. GZ literally shuts down every year that I can remember. I wouldn't think a second more about it if I were you...
  6. Sorry Pho. Maybe V2 will fix it. EVERYONE TELL YOUR DEALERS ABOUT THIS!!! The movement causes the date window to be higher than on the gen. The dial font placement is 1:1 but they overlooked that the higher date window would cause the mag to partially obscure the red "200M" font printing. And so it does. So if they do a v2 dial they just need to adjust the CNC to pinty it a hair higher closer to the center post. Techically the placement will be incorrect but unlike now you would never notice it then... It is always something, but then that is part of the fun I suppose.
  7. Nice watch, but pretty cluttered desk there my brother. Very un-libralike of you. Or am I the only anal retentive one with our birthday?
  8. We are pulling for you Laz. Call me and let me know if you got it. Nice Porto BTW...
  9. MMD today. Can't get enough of it lately - gets 2/3 of my attention maybe in the last couple weeks. So substantial and the flat caseback makes the balance just right... But I have a meeting later that requires a jacket so I'll probably switch to the trusty DJ then...
  10. YES! Forgot about that one. Great dress watch. Classic and elegant.
  11. A LOT of side bashing going on here both ways and its disappointing. So if nothing else let the capitalists come out in all of you. Although my work is not tied to economic factors since my trading is based on neither bias nor speculation on postive outcomes, whoever is President is of little consequence to me in the way I make my living. But the way I spend the money I make is greatly affected by the health of my country and the greater health of the world. All the millions in the world do nothing for me if my money is worthless. To that end I'm pulling for whoever is President to be perceived as doing a great job. I don't know how anyone could actually sit and hope that he should fail in order to prove whatever reason they think he didn't deserve to be elected. For whatever reason America is jazzed about him right now. It doesn't matter whether it is founded or unfounded, truth or untruth. It just is, and "is" in this case is the best possible situation given the current climate of fear. Markets have been selling off global largely because of fear. The only true anecdote for fear is hope ironically. Hope turns fear into optimism and optimism is the only thing at this point which is going to turn your ravaged portfolios into the black again. Black - hahaha. So let's not knock Obama. On the other hand, Bush didn't cause the markets to sell off, nor did his policies, so lets quit bashing him too shall we? Myself and a few others here could give you the entire picture of what caused the exact recipe of fear and crisis that caused the current state of the financial markets if you like elsewhere. But he didn't create the overlevered OTC swaps and forwards - or mark them to market at purposefully overinflated or worse unknown values that unraveled the world debt markets - the banks did. So unless you have a conspiracy theory of how Bush is secretly the Chairman of the Board and/or Director of Trading for the top ten world banks I don't really want to hear it anymore. But even if you are one who believes that he sucks and is responsible for everything no matter what anyone says, here is a news flash for you - he isn't President anymore so what difference does it make? So the smart man in this game cheers for whoever is winning. This isn't football. This is real and you want everyone to win, believe me. The fans buy the tickets and the tickets are revenue and revenue pays for the stadium. So go to the afterparty and have a drink. The beer is cold there...
  12. The 320 GMT is really nice and basic. Something about it... The 332 is sexier than a 5K an hour Las Vagas wh*re...
  13. Who knows, maybe they will correct these little color issues, etc. in v2?
  14. FYI guys, I don't know if it has been discussed specifically, but same deal on the steel version. It has blue indices, but most importantly the strap is blue and again, the dial is WAY silver and whatever that whitish silver they are doing is pretty off. Pho's/Lani's Blk/Red SS version is I'm afraid the only one to have. The black and gold is probably OK, but you have to live with the rotor being wrong and the gold color being a bit different...
  15. It shouldn't be a white dial. The other dial on the gold versions is silver and has black, not blue indices. I believe the indices on the rep are correctly black, but from both pics and handling the gen, the dial color is WAY off. Looks really bad to me. This pic still doesn't do it justice, but the gen is VERY silver and not whitish at all...
  16. Presidential success is largely a lagging indicator, to use a trading term. In other words, by the time the efforts of a President trickle into success or failure in something or other, a considerable amount time has almost always elapsed. The very bureaucracy of Washington nearly guarantees it. This is true particularly with economic successes or failures. To that end it is absurd to think that any President is ever judged on a leading basis. And yet they are routinely. What is closer to the truth is that things are starting to catch up around the time a term is over, so what often happens is the new President is actually incorrectly evaluated on the efforts of the previous one and then the next guy ends up getting the credit (good or bad) for what the previous guy did. And yet people think that it is always the current leader who is creating the good or bad stuff "now". Maybe in dictatorships or monarchy to a lessor extent, but not in a totally democratic system to be sure. If Obama were to only have one term, it is likely that much of his success or failure will really be based on the success or failure of older stuff catching up to him and the new President after him will inherit his successes and failures. Of course, even that conversation is moot, since the US Presidency is really an office of hope and feeling as opposed to one of concrete, verifiable success or failure in pretty much every social and economic issue. It is the machine with all its parts that creates the cause and effect in our lives and not the efforts of any one man - President or otherwise. However, it is interesting how the simple fact that the masses think he controls everything and is responsible for our destiny. It is fascinating to me how that whole phenomenon can actually produce positive and negative effects in the world, depite the fact that the office has little or nothing to do with whatever it is that is changing or where it comes from. One thing is for sure and that is that the entire world is obsessed with the American President and all it stands for. This is very interesting to more than a few political scholars since the design of the system he fits into should make for a far less powerful and instead a largely custodial role. .02
  17. Yup - all about the copper % really. And you are 100% right about that IM. Many people don't know actually that historically, rose gold was kind of the original gold watch and was much closer to yellow gold which Rolex actually made popular. Then, in order to differentiate, since YG and RG were similar, some brands started doing the other mix and calling it pink gold. There was even yet another mix which I believe had less nickel in it to darken it up that was called red gold for a time as well... Yup - all about the copper % really. 18. Price aside guys, I'm telling you - the bracelets are OFF THE CHAIN nice so lets hope they nail them. You won't be disappointed. BTW, I'll gladly take the UN board mod slot Pho - and just so you know, I'm doing a first ever introduction to the UN brand guide as we speak - sort of a primer for history, direction and achievements for the brand. Should be done soon. Hope you guys like it! I am nutty for UN and always have been. Hey Pho, won't be long now and you will see em' in the flesh...
  19. PS: I assume you meant a rep watch, but then I saw your comment about the Zenith and didn't know they had a rep of that, so are you talking gen or rep?
  20. VC Malte Chrono (40-41MM) is in my book one of the nicest dress reps around. Reliable Venus 175 copy movement that is not so different from the gen (which uses a Lemania based hand wind column wheel movement) and a very accurate dial. Looks super dressy with a glazed gator as I had on it when I had it. Wore it to a few black tie events and got many complements. Never got called out either obviously...
  21. Josh told me yesterday that the new DD's and DJ's with updates won't be ready until spring/summer. So everything is still the same with these for now - although I'm sure it depends on the dial choice. As it turns out these are a great matter of interest for me right now as I ma considering taking a great financial plunge and getting one of my grail watches - upgrading the gen DJ to a gen platinum Day Date with the glacier/ice blue dial. I had asked Josh if there was an upgraded dial in the offing because like usual, I would like to spend some time with a fairly accurate rep of it as a way of cementing the need. I know being steel it will never feel right, but I just wanted to try out the dial color and President bracelet for a while before spending $30K + on it. If there is an accurate glacier blue dial and it turns out I don't love that color as much as I think I do now I can save myself ten grand plus by getting another dial in WG as the glacier is only available in 950PT. So I am waiting for the next run of 08 DD reps because the current glacier dials are totally innaccurate. The look like turquoise instead of the subtle paleness of the gen. It is just AMAZING in person. Stop your heart for sure...
  22. This continues to be a great discussion. And I found another pic to discuss. This one is much more subjective. The fact that the "Swiss Made" font is off-center would immediately make the watch un keepable for me. But I wonder how many here would completely overlook it if that were the only sloppyness issue with the watch. I'm betting quite a few could live with that, although I couldn't...
  23. In your opinion, you mean to say I'm sure? I'm betting there is a watch or two that you might have, that members here who bought the UN Diver Chrono might not like as well. And I'm betting that they might resist saying anything so short, negative and subjectively unqualified about it in a thread about that watch, since no good can really come out of insulting whatever it is that you like - just as no good can come out of you insulting what they like... How about this instead: "I really don't like this design so much, as compared to some of the other UN diver watches." or "I don't like the look of the rose gold on this one, but it looks like they did a good job with the replication." or "I think I'll pass on this one as the $400 price tag is a bit steep. If it were under $300, I'd consider getting it but not in gold - only steel." or "My Mom told me that if I didn't have anything nice to say, I shouldn't say anything at all..." Signed, Your Conscience
  24. No. That is just it Pho. The gen is RG believe it or not. But their RG alloy mix makes for a color that is much closer to yellow gold than rose gold - hence why I sent the gen of this back. Yellow gold looks terribel with my blondish type skin tone. It is REALLY yellow/greenish in person and will only fade to something worse over time (the gen I mean). The rep plating is much more rosey colored than the gen and while not so accurate is much more pleasing to me. Looks more like Hublot or Rolex Everrose which is more pink than not...
