If the PloProf could have babies this is what would pop out!

I really want to get a couple of these hand sets when they become available again!

Just a simple ol' pic of my Ploprof with OEM Omega mesh bracelet... It's been a dream of mine to own one since the early 80s! Some thoughts/observations: 1. The rep clasp is total garbage (as mentioned before). It looks great but the adjust-on-the-fly mechanism is so poorly designed, it's literally a joke. It may work fine with the rubber strap, but it in no way works with a mesh strap since it comes loose as soon as the clasp is closed. 2. The lume out the box is less than average. I don't know why folks have been saying it's pretty good. Have you seen the rep lume on a DSSD? That is what I would deem 'decent' for a rep. 3. The crystal apparently has issues. The only issue I can 'see' is that the AR is not so hot. The remedy for all the crystal woes hopefully will be coming soon from the land of Poferijes & Oranjeboom 4. My bezel insert does not line up perfectly. Again, poor Quality Control during assembly. 5. The button really should unlock/lock the bezel ring. 6. Helium Valve is not perfectly centered. Not a big deal, but it still bugs me. 7. Aluminum minute hand is well done. 8. Dial is seemingly well-executed. 9. Interplay of brushed surface with polished edges on the case makes the watch look OEM. 10. Caseback font engraving is not smooth but 'grainy' (poorly done). Overall, I really like this rep despite my above comments. It's decently made, and its inherent flaws are rectifiable: new crystal, AR, relume, OEM clasp + OEM mesh bracelet.

Just arrived and I'm quite pleased with this interesting specimen. I've wanted this watch for decades now. Slapped on an OEM NOS Omega mesh bracelet to make it just right.

This is good news. I would love to be included in a group purchase when these become available. Notice I said "when" and not "if"... I have great faith in you to find the right CNC wizard! Cheers from an ol' pal -
By-Tor, I like the topic of this thread a lot. I have quite a few watches that I regret letting go of... It's hard to say but when it comes to reps, perhaps it is my ol' Ingy with Lello DW and superb AR. This rep was perfect in every way. I think it's a good idea for me not to mention the two Valjoux 72 Daytonas that I stupidly sold The dumbest genuine watch I have ever sold is my Pointed Guard 1675! I'm still kicking myself even after all of these years!!!! I still own another 1675, my first Rolex, given to me by my grandpa.

Big thumbs up with your new purchase! It is lovely! I dream of an El Primero franken like your previous 'Tona Cheers ol' pal

What is it about Rolex....that annoys you?
eunomians replied to brandwatch's topic in The Rolex Area
What bugs me, a self-professed vintage OEM Rolex collector for decades, is that there appears to not be any real 21st century reinterpretation of what the essence of Rolex used to be. In other words, there were countless classic designs that are worthy of recreation, in, say, a larger contemporary size... But instead Rolex has focused on modernizing useless aspects of their sports models. I like the fact that they've refused to change, but bringing back some real classics in a new & refreshing manner would be marvelous. I really like how IWC has recreated some of their classic models... They have all been done tastefully IMO--very different than lets say the Milguass or the ridiculous GMT with green hand These are poor recreations akin to Chrysler's PT Cruiser as being an homage to some sort of late 20th century ode to a failed early 20th century Art Deco design cue ----> not classic but tasteless! -

I've been touting new stuff (a slew of APs, IWC, Breitling, etc) for too long, so it's back to some classics for me. Despite all the new stuff sitting in my safe, there's nothing like hangin' with an old dear friend. In this case, a circa '68-'69 5513 with original twinlock and superdome. I really should replace the twinlock with the triplock parts I have. I have a NOS twinlock crown but for the past 7 or more years, I've been searching for a NOS twinlock crowntube to no avail. The bracelet and the bezel insert are not original to the watch (but I do have the originals in my possession/storage though). This ol' darling is super accurate--perhaps thee most accurate out of my mechanical collection. Impressive to say the very least.

Always a pleasure to hear from you Freddy333 Best regards PS. Holy smokes, nice Juan Trippe PanAm special!

I am very impressed with your 1675. Lately I have noticed that there are a plethora of serious top-notch supper modded reps coming to the forefront. The creativity and ability to think outside the box is fascinating. I'm glad to have been a member of the fora since the wee early 2000s... Lots has changed since the old days, but the inherent creativity of folks has grown exponentially. Cheers

Nice watch! Yes genuine... Approx. from '65 with original small-hour GMT hand. The watch was my grandfather's. He never had the hands or dial replaced--and he bought the watch new. It's an oddball misfit since it has the small GMT hand; a case of Rolex using up found caches of older leftover parts. Makes it more rare I guess, but I could care less because I will never sell it. This is now an heirloom piece. It's still, to this day, my favorite watch There are some veteran members from the old days that will remember this particular 1675 of mine. Cheers

Wait a sec, is anyone offering a plate mod? Or is this thread just a slew of individual projects that have been posted up for our confusion? In all seriousness, I'll reiterate my initial question: who is willing, capable & trustworthy at doing a plate mod?

I posted this response in RobbieG's 'All About ETA' thread today Everything has changed... Have any of you read the extensive article/rant/ultimatum in the August 2010 issue of Watchtime magazine with Swatch Group Chairman Nicolas Hayek? No more ETA movements/ebauches/springs for anyone outside of the exclusive Swiss group of cronies. "I'm not going to deliver anything--no movements, no hairsprings, nothing." -Hayek "Thank God he's doing it. He should do it immediately. It will only weaken the weak. All the weak [brands] should disappear" -Hublot CEO Jean-Claude Biver I'm all for in-house movements, but I'm personally against the idea of attrition when it comes to strangulating the small watch companies until they die. It reminds me of when Quartz movements were introduced and ETA bought 95% of the old original watch companies with scare tactics in the 1970s ---> "Ohh, you will go bankrupt trying to make mechanical movements now that quartz movements are around. Sell your company/tooling to us [for cheap] or die a quick death". Antitrust? Monopoly?
